Wencie Hoang x College Park Lieutenant Governor

Hello sizzling Red Devils! My name is Wencie Hoang, and I am BEE-yond ecstatic to serve YOU as your Lieutenant Governor for the 2016-2017 term! A little bit about me is that I love to sing, dance, travel, bake macarons, and film for my Youtube channel. At school, I serve as an oďŹƒcer in Hiking Club and ASB Leadership.

I hope that this year, that I will improve upon remembering names, because I want to not only work with you as an oďŹƒcer, but also as a friend. Although there will be speed bumps along the road, and that I can't promise you that I will be the perfect Lieutenant Governor, I DO want you to know that I will give you my 110% to ensure that every Devil experiences the magic of Key Club. As Miss Universe 2015 said when asked how she sees the title she possesses, I see this as a tremendous honor and responsibility. Instead of setting expectations this year, I want to encourage you to set goals. I have many goals for this year, but it would be impossible without YOU! Although I may be a disaster and super busy most of the time, do not ever hesitate to ask me any questions you may have. I love questions!

Musically, Wencie Hoang

A year in rewind...

Northgate Club Visitation Northgate Key Club had a club visitation with the Division 26 North Lieutenant Governor, Wencie Hoang on the last Saturday of June, the 25th. This particular event was held only for the officers. It was at Todos Santos Plaza in Concord that we met in order to discuss the club’s future events and strategies to earn more volunteer hours and to maximize the member's involvement to the events. The main questions were how to bring more members in and how to keep the members in the club. The officers and Wencie sat around the table and thought about new ideas and fun events. We agreed that the most important thing was for us to have desire for outreach and love for others in our community. Our close relationships, organized plans and creative ideas are prerequisites for the meaningful outreach. After even a short discussion, the officers were able to get much attractive and creative volunteering ideas of Northgate Key Club’s next year’s plan. The more thoughts we have, the better plans we do, and the more members there are, the happier events we have. -

CNH | KEY CLUB New Hall Park clean up On June 28, 2016, Key clubbers from Clayton Valley Charter High School volunteered at New Hall Park. The event helped keep New Hall Park clean. Key clubbers were able to pick up a lot of empty bottles and trash. Members went around New Hall Park looking for trash that was left in ponds and around the playground. Club members enjoyed each other’s company during the clean up. The park clean up event went well without any pressure on the volunteers. Jessica Holland, President recalled the even being, “fun experience and this event, for me, signifies what Key Club is about it was fun and we bonded with each other. This was a cool experience for key clubbers because they got to bond with other key clubbers while helping out for a good cause. Clayton Valley Key Clubbers are looking forward for more events like this. -Josh Castro, Clayton Valley High School Editor

Division 26 North Official Newsletter The Summer is never an interesting part of the Key Club year. With our busy Summer jobs and classes, events are hard to attend. The food bank and the Fourth of July Fest are some of the very few things that have been going on. The monthly DCM approaches and we hope to have members and officers go and spend some quality time with each other. We are very excited for the school year to begin so that we can show all the new high school students how great Key Club is. — Brian Choe, College Park Editor

AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 - FEBRUARY 18) You will have to work hard in order to see actual results. Everything superficial simply won’t do, and this is a time to dive in and do your best to get the work done. You will have enough colleagues supporting you and it won’t be as hard, once inertia takes over, as it might seem in the beginning. Close a chapter of your life to make room for a new one, and get the job done to make time for rest. Once Mercury, Venus and the Sun find themselves in the sign of Leo, you will meet new people and have to turn your focus to others. This should come easy if you’ve already paid enough attention to yourself before, and took care of all your personal responsibilities in a timely manner.

PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 - MARCH 20) You will have to work hard in order to see actual results.

ARIES (MARCH 21 - APRIL 19) In July, you will finally feel that the ruler of your sign has started moving forward. It will remain in Scorpio by the end of the month though, slow and steady, as if sweeping behind itself and what was left on its retrograde spree. Hopefully, you have done everything in your power to fix what needed fixing, but you will still be burdened by things you don’t accept, approve of, or simply cannot metabolize. You are not used to this state in which you are actually supported by your emotional self, when you realize that spending time at home and breathing in – does you good. You may find that oxygen is the best antidepressant and a cure for anxiety and impatience you have been suffering from for years.

TAURUS (APRIL 20 - MAY 20) In the first couple of weeks of July, many planets will be in good positions to support your growth and advancement. Use this time to mend some of the relationships that have been challenged by Mars in your opposing sign, and find a fine balance between career goals and time you want to spend with your family and people you love. The summer routine won’t feel very satisfying in a while, for things will get aggressive, too hot and battles of the ego are to be expected once the Sun enters Leo and your fourth house. This wave will slowly pass with the end of the month and there will be a lot to look forward to in August when the dust settles.

GEMINI (MAY 21 - JUNE 20) Cats spend 66% of their life asleep. You will feel like you were asleep in the beginning of this month, with so many planets in the element of Water. Things will flow easily, but far from the pace you’d like them to develop in. Slowly, you will warm up, get a bit more passionate about your desires and get to productive work with actual meaning. After you’ve found purpose, however unconscious of this process you might be, everything will get easier and move faster. Cancer is always linked to family time, but in your case it is in correlation with finances too. Overspending and lack of awareness of its flow will make you restless and raise your pressure for no good reason. Set financial limits for yourself in the first couple of days, and stick to them in weeks to come.

CANCER (JUNE 21 - JULY 22) This will be an exciting month for Cancer representatives and you are lucky to be one of them. Not only will you have the opportunity to truly recognize who you are and discover your inner potential, but you will also be the star of the month, with many doors open and enough energy to go through them. Be open for all sorts of relationships, for they could bring so many wonderful, new things in your life at this time. Introvert Cancers will have the opportunity to speak out and show their inner world in full bloom. The beginning of summer is always enjoyable to you, but this is an energetic year, productive and reinvigorating, if you only move.

LEO (JULY 23 - AUGUST 22) As a true lion, you’d like to sleep 20 hours a day, and if you have the opportunity to do so, don’t hesitate. The summer has started for everyone but you. Only a Leo knows when the change is complete and when it is really warm and sunny. Expected creativity will find its way into your life only after the first several weeks have passed, and the basis has been made for you to shine. Enjoy the time with Venus and Mercury in your first house. Communicate freely, dance, love and go out whenever you feel like it. Don’t put restrictions on your need to smile and socialize. Instead, understand that this is a moment that is about to pass and has to be lived through every second of the day.

VIRGO (AUGUST 23 - SEPTEMBER 22) All the blinking in one day equates to having your eyes closed for 30 minutes. Your physiology asks you to see the world with eyes closed for a part of the day, so don’t fight your basic needs. You need to incorporate some faith and blind activities into your daily routine, or you’ll get swept by the tiresome details you sometimes give too much of your attention to. Spend a lot of time with friends, in slow and tender conversations about possible changes you want to make in your life. Nothing will happen overnight and perhaps the time wasn’t right to make a move until now. Still, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t make it in months that are before you, and all you need is a way to understand your own needs better.

LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 - OCTOBER 22) Although the previous month was seemingly fatalistic, your faith in humankind will quickly return. There are still many things in front of you to untangle and resolve, and you will have the ambition and the energy to do so in the next couple of weeks. Your fallen ego will finally get a boost and you’ll remember that you are capable to do a lot, if you only didn’t doubt yourself constantly. Surprise others and be surprised. Add some spice to your relationships and nurture those friendships you can truly rely on for years. There will be enough time to turn to self-analysis once the summer has passed and the overall atmosphere pushes you to dig within. This is a time to understand who has value in your life and give your attention to those who deserve it.

SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 - NOVEMBER 21) As a wounded soldier, finally gaining some strength and regenerating after a long battle, you will start your slow motion forward once again. It will not be easy to regain your positivity, but your intentions and your mind will be clear and steady. Be practical, constructive, and create something from what you already possess. You don’t have to win a lottery to form fine surroundings as a basis to reach for some things you crave for. Give yourself time. Impatience will only make you nervous, but won’t really resolve anything. After you synchronize your wishes with your possibilities, your goals will wait for you to reach them step by step. Reality is on everyone’s side once we are completely honest with ourselves.

SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 - DECEMBER 21) A 1 minute kiss burns 26 calories. Imagine how thin you could get if you’d only kiss more. Venus in Leo will remind you of ways to share love with the world, of creative forces you can feel when in love, and of those that are far away, but close to your heart. Processes in your mind will be unstoppable, people you think of incredible, and you’ll feel the need to contact someone you haven’t talked to in a while. The past should normally be left in the past, but nowadays it can get hard to determine where the past lies. With so many social networks at our disposal, we remain in apparent contacts with people that might belong in what has ended. Update your lists of friends, and think long and hard where the past and the present start interfering with each other.

CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 - JANUARY 19) Yes, Saturn, your ruler is still retrograde. It will be retrograde throughout July and you can bang your head to the wall as much as you want to, this fact will not change. Frustration is growing as you return back again, over and over, to repair broken things, correct spelling mistakes, and fix everything you or someone else messed up in your life. The recipe for happiness lies in your smile, if you haven’t figured that out until now. Imagine yourself found in situations with people you laughed with, remember your humor and ways to put a smile on their face. What you need is optimism and joy, not rational, coolheaded behavior that always gives the same outcome in the end.
