LTG LTG

Hello Division 26 North! I’m finally back from being gone for 2 weeks and I really missed all of you hardworking servant leaders. Even though I was gone, all of you continued to go above and beyond, which is well expected since all of you will reach the stars in no time! Additionally, we’ve done 1444 hours of service just from the month of June! Knowing how passionate and dedicated you are makes my heart so whole and extremely proud to serve all of you. Now that June is ove r, and July has just begun, don’t ever let the fl ame of service burn out, since you are the torch bearer that passes on a service fueled legacy to your members. The month of July is filled with opportunities, so make sure to keep updated with the division! Once again and forever...

L-O-V-E I LOVE MY D-I-V!!!!

Sergio Gonzalez Mount Diablo

OFFICER T CONFE

June 15 Concord H

On June 15th Mount Diablo Key Club officers attended the training conference, which ended up being a success for some of the officers who got to get a deeper understanding of what their job is. At the conference many of the people were having fun as they were doing various little games and activities. At the conference officers waited for their meeting to begin meanwhile, other meetings were held for the other officers respectively. After all of the meetings were finished, everyone was told to come into the main room, so they could learn skills for when your speaking in public. Ounce all meetings were finished they decided to end the day off with a group picture.

TRAINING ERENCE

Nina Flores Heritage

5, 2019 High School

On June 15th, various newly-elected officers across the division came together to prepare and gain extra insight on what this new term will bring. There were multiple workshops that each officer could attend while waiting for their own workshop, specific to their position, began. Members of our own DLT ran these workshops to help educate and give further guidance on what this upcoming year will have in store. Meanwhile in other rooms the importance of public speaking, ice breakers, and service events were being explored. I stayed in the workshop that was ran by our Spirit Coordinators, as we learned about the often overlooked importance of icebreakers. Another workshop I had the attended was Lily Yau’s presentation on public speaking. As an exercise to further help our skills, volunteers would go up to the front of the stage and say a short speech about who they were and their intentions moving forward in the club. Everyone was so supportive and outgoing! I genuinely feel like I acquired new abilities that will benefit not only my role as an editor but also my abilities as a leader and a team member.

WHITE PONY EXPRESS FOOD DISTRIBUTION Evie Robello - Concord

Concord High Key Club attended the White Pony Express Food Distribution on July 7th. When all the volunteers arrived, they sat us down in a conference room and gave us a small seminar on what to do with the food and an educational video explaining their organization. Once we all washed our hands, used sanitizer, and put on gloves, they showed us to the food room. The goal behind the White Pony Express is to redistribute food that has been un-eaten and been thrown away by big businesses and then given low income families in the contra costa district with no charge to the family. Our job was to sort food that looked rotten and put the good food into bagged crates and to look at expiration dates of liquids. When there was enough crates and all the food was unpacked, we were tasked to go into the freezer and pull out stacks of perishables that would be sent down to people who’s houses burned down in the SoCal fires. There were snack-packs, salads, wraps, and parfaits for breakfast.

This event was an extremely fun event and made many of our members very glad and happy that they attended it. This is in great part due to the relationship and interactions with all of the clubbers, as well as the activities that we did there. We talked, drenched each other in all of the chaos of the water fight, sang, listened to music, danced, told stories, drank boba, and ate some delicious pizza together. This event was an out of this world experience for all us; what’s more, is that we had so much fun while at the same time we were working towards the fight to end cancer. With those two factors in consideration, this event opened up a new love for our club and for what we do, leading us to really want to attend more events like this and do more for the club that we all love so much.

RELAY FOR LIFE: LMC Victor Nguyen - Deer Valley

On June 22, 2019, members from the division came together at Los Medanos College to help volunteer for the Relay for Life fundraising event. Starting at 7:00 AM, our members started off their service hours by filling up water bottles and ice into the coolers for the hot day to come, as well as by moving enormous tents to the nearby hose area, where they refilled numerous water buckets that would be used on the field for a crazy fun water gun fight with the kids that were present at the event. After some downtime, all of the members went back to work, going around the track and lying out the decorated paper bags of those who have passed away due to cancer. Each of the bags had a gift inside for their loved ones who would find and pick them up as they walk around the track.
