CLUB   UPDATES COLLEGE PARK College Park has been involved in many service events, such as the 4th of July event with Kiwanis in Moraga and Concord, Relay For Life in Walnut Creek, and Food Bank. Officers and other active members are getting ready for the new school year by prepping for our Walk-Thru to interest potential new members, most importantly freshmen, to join our Key Club family! - Vivian Chong, President

CONCORD As the summer comes to a close and we're all getting ready for an exciting year back at school (mostly exciting because of all the key club possibilities), it fills me with joy to say that Concord with be starting the school year with 200 service hours! We're exciting to hit the ground running, by the time this newsletter is published, we will (hopefully!) have gathered many new eager members from our school's orientation. Oh I hope they know all the fun they're getting themselves into! - Vanessa Martinez, President

MOUNT DIABLO

Mount Diablo is currently working on presentations for our club at our school walk through. We have submitted a request for a table in order to promote ourselves and have a planned set up for us to present and promote our club. Currently, we only have a table for the walk through for returning students. We are looking towards recruiting underclassmen and hope to get a table at freshmen orientation as well, we have been looking into several ideas and designs in order to stand out and get the idea of Key Club across. Along with promotion, we plan to continue organizing our plans for this school year with a board meeting the weekend before school starts when all our officers are available. - Lesliejane Pada, President

ANTIOCH For the Antioch High Key Club, we recently had a registration day, and advertised for Key Club! It turned out great: we already doubled our club members! Also, Pittsburg president, Roy Golingan, came to help out in our time of need! He was a great person to educate interested freshman. Speaking of helping out, The club president of Antioch High school, Francisco Loya, went to the Dozier Libbey registration and helped with their Key Club sign ups! Their was a great turn out for their registration. For future plans, we have our first club meeting soon! It's exciting to see what's in store! - Francisco Loya, President

PITTSBURG Pittsburg Key Club has recently conducted a joint board meeting with the Los Medanos College Circle K. We were planning out the activities throughout the year and we are collaborating on a big fundraiser for the Eliminate Project with our local Kiwanis. We are hoping to have these joint board meetings once every month to further strengthen the relationships between the high school members and the college members. Our plans include combined service projects and PTP fundraisers. - Roy Golingan, President

Food Bank

Produce Program The Food Bank Produce Program gave volunteers an opportunity to give food away to the less fortunate. In the parking lot of Holy Rosary church, Key clubbers greeted the public and handed out fruits and vegetables; sometimes even striking up a small conversations with people. The key clubbers really enjoyed the experience and what it offered. - Francisco Loya, Antioch President

Monument   Crisis Center

This month we’ve had the wonderful opportunity to work with the Monument Crisis Center in Concord! The center is remodeled and better than ever- they no longer just provide food, but also classes and programs such as yoga, day camps, and karate! Once there, we began packing bags of food to be passed out during food delivery. After we finished that, we made lunches- including PB&J sandwiches, of course- for 75 of their youth day-campers! Sadly, we did not get to eat with them or anything, but we had the satisfaction of knowing that the kids would get to eat our homemade sandwiches! - Vanessa Martinez, Concord President

Relay for Life Walnut  Creek

Relay for Life is an event that College Park Key Club enjoys to continue to volunteer for. We worked the registration booth, as always, and there were more of us expected so the members took turns doing tasks. During my free time, I walked around the track to collect beads to mark how many laps I have walked. College Park Key Club worked alongside Northgate Key Club alumni as well as DVC students, so it was also a time of making new friends and spending time with old ones. I stayed for the duration of the entire event, and the Luminaria Ceremony was especially spectacular. - Joe Willemsz, College Park Vice President

Editor’s Closing Roy Samuel Golingan | Pittsburg Key Club President | DNE

Hello my Red Devils! Thank you again for the submissions you do every month. I want to see more and more quality pictures for the coming months so let’s go out there and serve! I know that the madness is starting again, all the AP classes will get overwhelming alongside the responsibilities within Key Club, even I get stumped with the amount of work that I need to do, but keep in mind that your health is more important, so get enough sleep and you’ll be prepared for anything. Good luck to everyone starting high school again, and keep that devil spirit alive! Ignited with service, Roy Golingan

Looking at these numbers, you may think they’re impossible to reach! But they’re not :) Every year, Division 26 North has grown in its quantity, quality, and achievements. This is our year! The Division Leadership Team and I have created these goals for each club because we know that and every single one of y’all can achieve this goal. This year, our theme is CELEBRATE! We can celebrate Family by growing our ohana in membership, Leadership by reaching our PTP and Eliminate goals to prevent injuries and MNT across the world, and Service by achieving our hours by helping our homes, schools, and communities. It’s GO HARD OR GO HOME! <3 OFFICIAL DIVISION 26 NORTH NEWSLETTER | SEPTEMBER 2014
