LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR’S WELCOME

OFFICIAL DIVISION 26 NORTH NEWSLETTER | JANUARY EDITION

PAGE 3

Hello! The term is slowly coming to an end in 2 months. With this said, your next Lieutenant Governor will be elected soon! Conclave will be on January 10th, so I hope to see all of you there to vote for your next Lieutenant to serve you, the Division 26 North Red Devils! Since my term is almost done, I want you all to know that it has been an honor to serve as your Lieutenant Governor. Although it may have been rough or slow at times, I'm so proud of everything we have accomplished so far. We've doubled our FRN attendance from 115 to over 200, We've made it to the final round at FRN again (two years in a row), and we've raised over $1,400 for the Pediatric Trauma Program. If that doesn't make you proud, I don't know what will. Remember, the Eliminate Project is nearing its deadline and District Convention is right around the corner. Finish this term with reaching our goals and celebrating Service, Leadership & Family at District Convention. Let's end this term with a spark! I love you all! Burning with love and service, Lt. Governor Jennifer Lam đ&#x;˜Š

WHAT IS DCON? Each district conducts a convention in the spring for the Key Clubs within their region. At District Convention, district officers are elected, club officers are trained, and individual clubs are awarded for their dedication to service.

But that’s not all! You get to meet Key Clubbers from all over the CNH District, make new friends from different states, shout your lungs out from spirit battles, and dance your night away at the Governor’s Ball. DCON has so many activities, to do, so don’t miss out!

On a chilly Saturday afternoon, Concord key club paired up with Love Is The Answer to warm the hearts of the Stonebrook Senior Center. We had a ‘big performance’ for those who are able to leave their beds. For those who could not get out of bed, we ‘Decked the Halls’ by singing through their hallways! We also had the chance to talk to some seniors one-on-one, and hand presents out to every one we sang to! It was a heart-warming event that all members loved, so we plan to make a tradition. - Vanessa Martinez, President

VETERANS’ PARADE

Our Key Club, right beside the Kiwanis club of Antioch, cleaned the downtown streets the day before the event happened. During the Veteran’s parade, we had the opportunity to old the Kiwanis flags and walk through downtown! Very exciting with hundreds of spectators present to support our veterans. - Francisco Loya, President

This month, Pittsburg Key Club volunteered at the school’s Food Drive. We arranged the food into handbags and distributed them to the families in need. We are currently talking to the organizers of this event to make it into a monthly service event since this could help several families in the community that are struggling to have a sufficient supply of food for their household. - Roy Golingan, President

OPERATION: CHRISTMAS CHILD

OFFICIAL DIVISION 26 NORTH NEWSLETTER | JANUARY EDITION

PAGE 15

Operation Christmas Child is a Christmas project held by Samaritan’s Purse. They collect giftfilled shoeboxes from donors and deliver them to less fortunate children over 150 countries during Christmas time. College Park Key Clubbers volunteered at a drop off location, where we organized the single shoeboxes, fitted them into larger cartons, and carried the cartons to the truck where it will be shipped soon. Volunteers also watched a video about the entire process of this project and heard a lot of heartwarming stories from the children that received a gift. This organization has delivered over 100 million shoeboxes to children all over the world, and College Park Key Club is proud to be part of this project every year. - Charissa Tseng, Editor
