LTG’s Opening
  Hello Devils!
!
We're already in the month of July! Can you believe it? I hope that everyone is having a safe and lovely summer, soaking in the sun, volunteering, fundraising, and spending time with your ohana.
!
I would like to congratulate everyone for all of your hard work, whether it was serving our community, fundraising for PTP and Eliminate, or even BEEcoming a better leader. For those who don't know, this year's theme is to Celebrate! Service, Family, Leadership. I want you to always keep this in mind, in how little or much you accomplish at a time, CELEBRATE!
!
Speaking of celebrating, 4th of July is coming up and we have a service project! We can show our devil pride at a 4th of July Festival at Mount Diablo! I wish I could be there to experience it with y'all, but I will be away at International Convention. I know that whether I'm there or not, you all will always impress me with all the things you do for your community!
!
Later this month, we'll be celebrating with our sister division, Division 26 South! It's time for the Summer Olympics! We will be competing with and against Division 26 South, so bring your Dgame, Devil game! I cannot wait to see y'all soon!
!
Keep in mind our Division goals, something that we'll be celebrating and striving for all year! (:
! Always burning with service, ! Jennifer Lam

Looking at these numbers, you may think they’re impossible to reach! But they’re not :) Every year, Division 26 North has grown in its quantity, quality, and achievements. This is our year! The Division Leadership Team and I have created these goals for each club because we know that and every single one of y’all can achieve this goal.
!
This year, our theme is CELEBRATE! We can celebrate Family by growing our ohana in membership, Leadership by reaching our PTP and Eliminate goals to prevent injuries and MNT across the world, and Service by achieving our hours by helping our homes, schools, and communities.
!
It’s GO HARD OR GO HOME! <3

College Park Last meeting and Relay for Life As summer approaches, the school year is coming to an end, as well as our last meeting before our seniors graduate from high school. We had a slideshow of the 2013-2014 term, and gave out awards to outstanding officers. We will truly miss all the seniors graduating this year, especially David and Monica that did so much for our club. Don't forget: Once you're a Key clubber, you will always be part of our ohana!
Relay for Life While seniors are busy for college and others are studying for finals, Relay for Life is a great opportunity to get away from stress. We fundraised for the American Cancer Society, helped at the registration booth, walked laps, and placed glow sticks in Luminaria bags. Although the day was long, it is definitely one of the biggest and the most exciting events of the year. - Charissa Tseng, Editor

Northgate We look forward to the upcoming International Convention Meeting, as well as the Officer Training Conference. Throughout our weekly meetings this month, we have been in contact with one of our partnered sponsorships, Rustic Pathways, and, after a given presentation, have encouraged other members to join and participate in the adventures and services offered through this program. Since Key Club never stops, we are also planning for future Key Club events and are creating new fundraising ideas to raise awareness and advertise the importance of our cause.
Campus Work Day This month, Northgate High School’s Key Club attended and participated in the Campus Work Day, at Northgate High School. This event was beneficial for the campus, volunteers, and the community. We made our presence known throughout the day, and all of the members socialized and worked together to restore the campus for a neater environment. Many people attended, and after hours of work, food and water was provided for the volunteers after the hard day. - Juliette Bautista

This month of May, Concord High Key Club volunteered on Memorial Day for KidsFest in Concord, CA. Our fellow D26N school, Mt. Diablo, was there with us as well. The D26N Red Devils collected food cans from the community, who would receive a dollar off admissions at the carnival. All of the canned food from the event was donated to the food bank in Concord. KidsFest is a great carnival that is hosted by Mt. Diablo High every Memorial Day Weekend. Just being a part of it was an amazing! Seeing tons of children get active with the community and seeing so many volunteers helping out was just a plus! That’s it for this month of May. Sizzling with Service the Concord High D26N Red Devils! - Gagan Lally, Editor

Antioch On June 4th, right after the last day of school for Antioch High, some Key Clubbers put in some fantastic volunteer work! Jordan Henderson and Isaiah Chhon of the Antioch Key Club are hauling books back and forth, to neatly organize the seasonal Book Sale at the Antioch Public Library! This was Isaiah Chhon's first volunteer project, and towards the end, showed us that he wasn't afraid to break a sweat! - Francisco Loya, President

Mount Diablo Our Key Club volunteered at the KidFest this month with the Food Bank. We worked the whole Memorial Day weekend at KidFest, and it was a fun experience. For the Food Bank, we helped collect cans and handed out coupons to parties for their donations. We also helped organize the cans and bins, and we helped set up and clean up for the Food Bank.
KidsFest Inside the KidsFest, several members did various jobs of face painting, kid art, and more assisting with the free events and activities that the festival offered. Some also helped with admission, handing out tickets to customers and providing guidance information. When the event was over, members also helped with some clean up. - Lesliejane Pada, President

Pittsburg So far, we have only been celebrating the graduating seniors for the last few weeks of school. We distributed our leis to the Seniors and we managed to raise money for our club by selling those leis. Other than that, we wanted to congratulate all of the seniors that earned their Key Club sashes for graduation. We encouraged them to join a Circle K club in their college if they have one. The only other thing we are planning is our agenda for the year with our local Circle K and Kiwanis Clubs. We are trying our best to organize more summer events for the members.

Spotlight on Service
  Relay for Life, Pleasant Hill
College Park participated in the Relay for Life at Pleasant Hill Middle School. At the relay, we worked the registration booth, cheered people on, and everyone's favorite, setting up the Luminarias for the night. The Luminaria ceremony meant a lot to me because I lost my dad to cancer. During the lap around the track, I read all the Luminarias, and they made me realize how many people were affected by cancer. It felt emotional to remember all those who had passed away. This moment was very powerful. All in all this event was loads of fun and I will definitely go to future opportunities. - Matthew Kaneda, College Park

  The Neon Run, San Francisco
The Neon Run was the largest service event we attended recently. It was at the Candlestick Park in San Francisco and we had around 15 members volunteer, making us the largest group to be there at the event. It was a lot of fun because we threw colored powder at people running and also enjoyed the party that came right after volunteering. - Roy Golingan, Pittsburg President

My high school career was filled with ups and downs, but I am so grateful I had the opportunity to explore the world of Key Club, especially in my senior year when making life decisions became most prevalent. Key Club taught me that great things are truly possible if you are willing to communicate, show initiative, inspire/be inspired, and most importantly, give back to those around you.

!
High school has been the four years that allowed me to learn about many different perspective in life through many clubs and programs that I've been lucky to be exposed to. These past four years has been full of roller coaster moments that brought me tears of sadness and tears of joy. However, I do not regret a single moment of my life because I believe that every moment has a purpose that made me who I am today. One of the most unforgettable moments of my high school career is no doubt being part of Key Club all four years. Although It took me until the end of junior year, I learned and understood the importance of key club in our community. Key Club helped me develop skills that I am able to use in my life now and in the future. I was able to be involved in various organizations that hoped to make the community better. Even though there has been stressful moments as well, I understood that everything would pay off after all the dedication I put into Key Club. All the life long friends I have made in Key Club have similar goals, motivations, and interests as I do. For this reason, I was able to connect with people easily which made my Key Club journey even better. For all those who have had their Key Club moments, keep staying active and make sure you keep motivating yourself and others to be active in Key Club. Take on new challenges such as running for officer positions or chairman. You will definitely enjoy holding a leadership position and will learn more about yourself and Key Club. For those who are young, take advantage of the high school life. This is the time of your life when you can go out and do many things with it. Take advantage of all the opportunities that are given to you because I can guarantee you that it will not come again once you graduate. I strongly encourage you to be active with Key Club by attending DCMs, FRN, DCON, RTC, etc.. Overall, enjoy life to the fullest! OFFICIAL DIVISION 26 NORTH NEWSLETTER | JUNE 2014

Region 9 Banquet
The Region 9 Banquet was a ceremony to officially say goodbye to our past LtGs, to welcome the new board, to award the officers of their hard work, and to commemorate the accomplishments and the memories of Division 26 North, 26 South, and Division 2 throughout the 2013-2014 term.

What can you say about the Banquet?
!
It was my first time going to one of our banquets and honestly, it was one of the most touching experiences I have seen. I can tell how close and meaningful it meant not only to be co-members and officers, but to be friends that we can depend on. I’m so grateful to have viewed how much we, as a region, have accomplished, and I can't wait to see what’s next from our upcoming officers this year! - Roelyne Reyes, Pittsburg VP

The Officer Training Conference The Officer Training Conference was the first out of many sessions for new officers to learn how to manage their club, to make new friends within the Division, and to know what it truly means to be part of an amazing group of leaders.
!
It was a long and tiring day for all of us, but in the end, everyone was thankful for the amount of time our LtG’s put into this event, and how they managed to ensure the success of our division for this term.

Editor’s Closing Roy Samuel Golingan | Pittsburg Key Club President | DNE
I have to say Desiree Choe was my inspiration to choose this position. Her newsletters showed that Division 26 North had the potential to be recognized more, to be known by the whole District, and then it happened, she received a Distinguished Editor award during DCON. I hope to follow her footsteps in achieving that award again for the Division. As I said in my previous newsletter, it’s our Division’s time to shine and be out there!
!
Hopefully summer will bring in more members to bond together and make more connections, I hope to see amazing pictures of service throughout this break, and I hope that we will finish many goals this summer so that we are ready for the upcoming school year!
!
And to all my Red Devils out there, have a GOLDEN summer full of service, spirit, and burning passion for Key Club!
