Recognizing outstanding leadership and spirit from July and August! CONTACTS
Hello Devils! I hope you are all staying safe and taking care of yourselves! Despite our circumstances, I hope you all continue to serve just-- if not twice-- as hard as when we were all together. Please use this time to educate yourselves more, not only in Key Club, but with the issues rising around us. The world needs our help and voices now more than ever, and I hope that Key Club teaches you that community concerns not only those we know or see everyday, but everyone who shares the same human kindness and love, whoever and wherever they are. Thank you for your hard work as always, and I'm super pleased that we're still able to progress towards our term goals despite our limitations! Keep that fire burning, devils! with a spark for service,

1. I've never had one specific Key Club moment but I'll tell you why that is. Every single event that I go to, I am reminded of the great things that Key Club represents. It's not just a service organization. It's an opportunity to express yourself freely, amongst friends who are doing the same exact thing, bringing each other out of our shells and having a good time all around all whilst still giving to others in the community and beyond. 2. To new Key Clubbers or those who barely know about Key Club, I encourage you to keep striving farther into your Key Club journey because you will create life long memories that you will never forget. Even if it's just a Zoom call service event, all it takes is just one person to take one step. From then on, magic happens<3. 1. My Key Club moment was at Region Training Conference two years ago when I was in group Iris, I'm still friends with some of the people from my group and it made me realize how much I loved Key Club. 2. Even though this term's events have been mostly through Zoom, it's always good to stay positive for the future:).

Hello Red Devils! With Covid-19 and the school year rolling in, I hope you are all continuing to remain active and serving your community. Who would have thought this school year to be online and the pandemic still ongoing, right? Well despite that, thank you for your hard work and passion for a whole half of this roller coaster of a term. You heard me right-HALF of the term. We are already six months into the 2020-2021 key club term, and before you know it, we will soon be electing our next Lieutenant Governor for the 20212022 term. Whew, but let's not think too far into that. For now, keep doing what you're doing and stay safe! Hope to see you all soon,

How has Key Club impacted you, your life and/or school? Key Club has impacted my life in many positive ways. Through Key Club, I was able to make really awesome new friends via meetings and events. Key Club also allows me to feel like I am truly making a difference, with our service projects organized by my chapter's wonderful leaders.
What made you join/fall in love with the club? I first joined Key Club because it was recommended to me by one of my friends over the Summer. What truly made me first fall in love with the club was the Region 9 Olympics. I had such an amazing time, and the Olympics really showed me what a great community that Key Club creates with students from a multitude of areas.
Over quarantine I have just been tryin physically and mentally healthy. I've time to myself to just relax and refec some of my favorite activities like li going for walks. I also started try skatboarding and baking. I have reall best out of this very much not ideal si

Hey devils!! First, I’d like to say how proud I am of our division for continuing to serve and fundraise while in quarantine. I know there haven’t been too many fundraising opportunities, but I hope to change that in the weeks to come. One fundraiser that’s in the works right now is our Devil Café. We plan for this to be a joint fundraiser with D26S and the idea is that we’re going to sell drinks and food for you guys to pick up!! I’m currently working on a fundraising and dues guide for the treasurers in our division to refer to if they need help with anything. Dues season is right around the corner, so please, feel free to ask me any questions you have about paying dues. Thank you so much for all your hard work devils and I hope to see all of you soon!!

Charity Miles Walk Article By: Kevin Nguyen, Freedom
From July 12th to July 25th, Freedom Key Club members immersed themselves within artistic sessions of painting rocks! The Painted Rocks event called for members to find rocks and paint on them with a positive image to share with our community by placing them in public areas for people to see. This event worked hand in hand with our Charity Miles event as it called for members to go on walks and find a rock in order to paint them. Furthermore, it called for the improvement of our member’s health by taking time for themselves without going on a screen!
Freedom's tech editor, Kevin Nguyen, says "I found the painting of the rocks as vigorous since it granted me a reason to get out of the house and get breaths of fresh air... Every breath that was taken during those walks had the capacity to, 'bring a life into the light' as it taught me to appreciate the Earth and its beauty. Overall, the painting of rocks to bring to the community made me feel like I was bringing a positive part of me to society during a difficult time in our lives, making me very happy".

On July 22nd, the officers and members of the Clayton Valley Key Club came together on a Zoom call Article By: Kelly Lam, Clayton Valley and got a chance to sit down and relax while still doing our service. Prior to the meeting, participants were toPrior print out multiple coloring pages from Color A Smile. Color A Smile is a nonprofit organization based off of cheerful coloring pages. After completing the coloring pages, members send off their work to the organization’s P.O. box. From there, the pages get distributed to senior citizens, overseas troops, and anyone in need of a smile. President Jailyn Arangorin states that, “I really enjoyed the Color A Smile Event we held because coloring was really calming and nostalgic. Seeing each other’s coloring in real time was really fun too. I liked how different we all colored even if it was the same design. It brought me a smile too!” Additionally, treasurer Jimena Jimenez voices that, “the Color A Smile service event was really thrilling and brought a creative side to everyone. I enjoyed it, not only because we got to color and socialize together, but also because we were making others happy at the same time.”

Bracelets Of Hope
Article By: Nick Martinez, Mount Diablo
On August 23 at 4pm, Mount Diablo held an interclub event with Alhambra, DozierLibbey, and Deer Valley Key Clubs. This Zoom event was one hour long and intended to share to our members how to make bracelets for the Bracelets of Hope event! We went through Youtube tutorials of different bracelet making styles. Even pausing between steps so attendees can catch up with the current step. These bracelets would then be collected by an officer and sent to the Washington headquarters for their organization. They create friendship through these bracelets between foster homes, domestic violence shelters, and homeless shelters. Members who wanted to participate were also given the option to receive thread for free from us. The total amount of bracelets from all four clubs was 379!

Online Tutoring
Adapting to these new times, the College Park KEY Club, Article By: Jasmine Valenzuela, College Park along with many other CNH divisions has made the switch inlective in service tactics to partner with different online-tutoring organizations in our collective efforts to still offer opportunities to club members. With the CP KEY Club, our club has partnered with 2 different tutoring organizations: Each One Teach One, and Meaningful Teens, both of which offer similar services but are utilized by different student volunteers. Volunteering for Each One Teach One tutoring, one of our VPs, Kaitlyn explains why she decided to step up and participate: “I wanted to do Each One Teach One because it was super consistent since it is a scheduled two-hour tutoring session a week so I was able to fit in my schedule perfectly.” Despite the other responsibilities she may have, because of the more flexible nature of digital meet-ups inherent in the service, she is able to balance school and commit time to this new type of service. The adaptive nature of online tutoring means as long as she can get two hours in with their tutee, she’s able to schedule sessions whenever she’s available. “Online tutoring is so unique because it is all up to me when and how I get to volunteer. I can volunteer around my schedule which is very convenient.” Collaborating with Meaningful Teens, another VP, Samuel describes his personal anecdotes while working with their organization. “Meaningful Teens has offered me a plethora of different projects and a diverse range of students for me to help out. Currently, I’ve been busy teaching English for both a high schooler from Ukraine and a Mexcian Businessman at the same time. As you could probably surmise, the experiences I get from both students have been different, but equally rewarding.” Now has never been a better time to take a leap. You never know when you’ll be so drawn into teaching people online that you actually forget why you started!
