PRESIDENT CLUB UPDATES
SECA, Carrie Huang
Hello Grizzlies! This past month, SECA volunteered at two Science Olympiad competitions at UOP and McNair High School and the Spring Fun Day in Lathrop. We really enjoyed volunteering at these events! Due to some difficulties, our club was unable to attend DCON. Although we are disappointed and wish we could have gone, we hope you all had an amazing time and gained more knowledge and inspiration! SECA’s newly installed board is quickly adjusting to their positions, and we are very excited to serve our club. SECA is looking forward to the Suit and Tie Banquet that is coming up!
Lodi High, Giovanni Fernandez
This March we have done two service projects and have attended DCON!! During our spring break we went over to the River Fountains of Lodi retirement home and painted Easter theme pictures with the residents. During our break we also helped to set up and clean the Salvation Army of Lodi’s annual dinner. At this dinner we were also recognized for our involvement. Lastly we ended our break with DCON, at which we had every past officer, current officers, and five members attend. We are currently planning service projects with multiple organizations around Lodi and look forward to seeing everyone at the joint division banquet!
Elaine Ho, Cesar Chavez Currently we have transitioned into our new officers and everything is running smoothly. Past officers have been trying their best to train new officers so that next year they will be prepared. I am positive that next year will be better than ever with the lovely ladies leading the way. Next month Chavez will be volunteering at a marathon down in Lodi. We will be assisting the runners by giving directions and much more. We are also planning activities for the seniors who will be graduating within a few more months. We want our members to have special memories coming out of Key Club.

D27N/S JOINT Banquet Reflection The Division Banquet was really formal and a nice way to wrap up the Key Club year as officers transition. The food was delicious and the performances were entertaining. The turnout from both divisions was huge, but it was great seeing fellow Key Clubbers from the Division 27 South. The Banquet was a way for the senior Key Clubbers to spend time with one another before they got busy with graduation. Overall, it was easy to see everybody had fun and enjoyed the banquet.

Service Articles On March 30th, SECA Key Club volunteered at the Lathrop Community Center for Spring Fun Day, a day dedicated to making Easter enjoyable for kids from the ages of 2 to 11. We separated into different sections, which were designated for different age groups. We helped with the games for the older kids and entertained the younger ones. Games included sack racing, red light green light, a parachute, tug of war, and an egg toss. Toward the end, we helped organize a massive egg hunt for each age group. It was a very enjoyable experience and it felt amazing to see children with huge smiles on their faces that day, especially since I love little kids. Volunteering for Spring Fun Day is certainly an event that I will never forget!

Kiwanis One Day Children’s Museum On Saturday April 13th, my club volunteered at the Children’s Museum for Kiwanis One Day. Some of our members pulled weeds or cleaned the vehicles inside the actual museum. Some of my friends were assigned to the garden patio entrances. We had to clear the cobwebs and extra leaves and scrape off all the loose paint on the wood. Lastly we had to go over the wooden posts with brand new paint. Even though we were working in the hot sun, we made the most out of the experience by making fun of each other and seeing who could scrape the most paint faster. The sweat and paint on my clothes was worth it because we managed to make a few old parts of a museum look brand new again. While our club was there, children were visiting the museum, and they looked to be enjoying their visit because they were smiling and laughing. It’s great to know that our maintenance would help make the children’s experiences a little bit better. Volunteering at the Children’s museum was really fun, and I can’t wait until next year’s Kiwanis One Day!
