A Message From Lt. Governor Chuofan

Hello Grizzlies!

Happy winter! I hope all of you are doing well! Just hang on for a couple more days, and it will be break and holiday season! Remember to stay warm and take care of yourself as the weather gets a bit cold and rainy! In the month of November-December, we experienced the situation with the toxic air quality of the smoke, and many of us were physically affected by that. I hope you all have recovered and doing well by now! It is important to remember that while we are out of “trouble, there are still people with homes destroyed and families torn apart. If you have the means to, please consider helping these individuals when you can! If not, keeping them on your mind is good enough as well! In addition, many of you were still out there serving the community, which was amazing! It is important to note that the term did not end with Fall Rally; there are still four more months left! Please stay on the lookout of any community service, especially if you are looking into completing any of the levels for the Member Recognition Program!

Speaking of recognition, Division and District Judging are coming up soon in the next month or two, so if you are even half thinking about applying to any of our contests, apply apply apply! By submitting the application/binder, you are ahead of everyone else by half a step already! Lastly, I hope everyone does something fun and meaningful during your well-deserved break! Sleep in, and spend some time with your family!

See you next month!

- Chuofan Yu

“December is a time for taking final exams, finishing college applications, and

Spotlight on Service Program

fulfilling last minute resolutions. It's also the time for giving gifts and giving back to your home, school, and community. While

DECEMBER

your schedule may be packed, remember to make time to give to those who are less fortunate. In California, Nevada, and Hawaii alone there are almost 541,000 chil-

PROVIDING BASIC NEEDS

dren who will not get to spend the holidays in a home. The SOSP theme for December is "Providing Basic Needs" because the CNH District believes that Key Clubbers can make a difference by hosting events such as toy & clothing drives, volunteering at shelters and soup kitchens, or giving a family a great holiday memory. This December, help provide families with the basic needs to survive. - December SOSP Guide

Question of the Month: Why is service important to our homes, schools, and communities?

Submit your answer to cnhkc.sp@gmail.com with subject line of: SP Challenge | 12 | D27N

Take part in the Spotlight on Service Program! Every month, there is a unique theme regarding service that we are encouraged to pursue by the program, and any projects that align with the given theme of the month can be submitted for a chance to be featured on the District Newsletter!

You may submit articles and visuals of projects to a Google Form which your officers should be able to guide you to!

B The transition into cooler weather did not stop our amazing members from volunteering at the Bread of Life, which occurs on the third Saturday of each month. At the event, our members packed food throughout the morning for families in need and pulled wagons to carry the

R E A D

food, which was brought to the person's car. In a way, they are doing the grocery shopping for needy families. Some of the items that families received were water bottles, crackers, and pastries. Our members worked hard to keep up with the

O F

pace of wagons going by their station and continued to put in their best effort until the last person in line that was in need got some food. This service event is one that

all members should go to at least once to see how their service is benefiting the community and those in need. - Michelle Lin (SECA)

On the first chilly Sunday morning of November, our Key Club members teamed up with SECA’s National Honor Society

members to help cover a mural on Miracle Mile in order for a new mural to be

created. They worked together to help

covered the wall with gray paint. Some

contributed to the completion of the job. Their planning of how to get the task done was excellent. With the excellent planning, they were able to finish covering the mural before the expected completion time! Talk about teamwork! - Michelle Lin (SECA)
