Jamie Lynn Phan | Middle College This year, Region 6, 14, 15 and 16 hosted its annual Under the Sea-TC for members and officers to learn more about the LTG position and the candidacy process. This training conference took place on December 11th, 2021 from 9 AM - 3 PM at Sacramento State. This conference included a variety of workshop presentations that were curated and presented by current Lt. Governors themselves. In total, there were around 6 informational workshops throughout the course of the event. Breakout rooms were scheduled in between workshops where attendees were split into groups led by respective Lt. Governors. I was in the pink group which was led by D44S Dino’s very own LTG, Raelyn Esguerra. During my breakout sessions with “Rae”, other group members along with myself received personal advice from Rae about the candidacy process and answers to some of our pressing questions. Towards the end of the event, there was a mock caucus session that occurred where attendees would be able to volunteer to be asked a random question by one of the Lt. Governors for practice. A caucus question is a question that club delegates ask a Lt. Governor candidate at an official Conclave where the election process for a Lt. Governor occurs. A caucusquestion allows for delegates to have Lt. Governor candidates elaborate more on certain points included in their speech or literature and to hear the candidates cover any points that they did not explicitly mention before. I volunteered to be asked a caucus question by Hailey and it was a thrilling experience! All attendees were given a supplemental packet to take home containing an abundance of vital information from each presentation. I took lots of notes and tried to absorb as much advice and information as I could. Overall, this was a very enjoyable training conference that was organized by Hailey and ith the assistance of the other Lt. Governors. I learned so much but had fun at the same ime!

Jennifer Pham Middle College The Blue Grizzly DCM was located at Nelson Park from 4:30PM to 6:00PM. This event occurred on December 19th as it was rescheduled due to weather conditions. Attendees were required to wear their masks, bring a wrapped/bagged gift (no more than $5), and their COVID waiver forms. Members and Officers were encouraged to bring cozy blankets to stay warm, wear warm clothing, bring picnic mats/blankets to sit on, and lights for decoration. Executive Assistants, Joy Talaroc and Angie Nguyen, and Division News Editor, Lydia Her, greeted and checked in attendees and made sure all the required forms were present. Throughout the night, our Spirit Task Coordinator, Peter Nguyen, served hot chocolate with marshmallows to attendees! As everyone settled down under the gazebo, Lieutenant Governor, Hailey Phan, began the monthly recognitions for the month of December. Club updates, service opportunities, member recognition awards, and the progress of the division goals were talked about during the DCM portion. For the rest of the event, the game of White Elephant occurred! Joy Talaroc was the first person to steal a gift. This got to many attendees to steal gifts such as candles, hot chocolate bombs, and many more. Every attendee was able to go home with a gift that ranged from legos to even plants. This was the last DCM of the year and many members and officers can say that this DCM ended well.

Middle College's Word of Thanks

Words of Thanks is a Middle College Key Club service opportunity that many members and officers are encouraged to take part of. This service opportunity is for healthcare workers to thank them for all that they do and for senior citizens and ill patients. Members and officers are able to write about themselves, tell a joke/quote/story, or write an uplifting message. The types of letters that members can make include a physical letter that you have to mail yourself, a digital/typed message that you can send through a digital form, or a photo message that you can send through email. Members should be creative and add designs with color. The overall idea of this service project is to write/type to healthcare workers, senior citizens or patients words of thanks to them. Members can find inspiration online if they are struggling to find ideas. These thank you messages will definitely uplift others.

Jennifer Pham Middle College

Hospital Cards is another service opportunity that members can start their New Year off! This service opportunity includes writing a meaningful card (not just a few words), having color, being creative, and being kind and respectful. Members are creating meaningful cards for a local hospital! One card made equals 30 minutes. The maximum a member can make through this service project is 4 hours which equals to 8 cards. Each card is encouraged to have kindful and encouraging words to patients. As you have completed all your decorative cards, you must deliver the cards to 500 W Hospital Rd French Camp, CA 95231 at the administration building.
