We have a few events planned for you, so please stay tuned for them! In addition, the February DCM is this Saturday on February 23rd, 2019, and we will be having an ice skating DCM to fundraise for the Eliminate Project! Remember that every $1.80 can save a life! In addition, the Honey Point quarters are ending soon; third quarter awards will be announced at the DCM, and the yearly award will be given at division banquet! Other than that, I hope all of you are able to attend the service projects that you are interested in! I know that the cold doesn’t stop our passion for service, right? That is it from me this month! I wish all of you a wonderful rest of February!

Bread of Life This monthly event was a very familiar event with volunteers at the Life Song Church from early in the morning at nine to noon on January 19th. After getting signed in or registered, the thirteen Key Clubbers divided into smaller groups and were assigned stations to work on. The mountain of food and drinks had to be packed into either grocery bags or paper bags. The assembly line consisting of enthusiastic volunteers were very efficient and the Key Clubbers with wagons quickly transported the goods to the waiting individuals who need them. This experience brought awareness to students on the conditions and the kindness of their community as well as ideas for future actions that could help their neighbors throughout Stockton.
High School Honors Concert On Saturday, January 12th met up at the Atherton Auditorium at San Joaquin Delta College from 3:30 pm to 8 pm to help with plating desserts and making hot beverages for the guests. Snacks ranged from bitesized sugared doughnuts to piles of flaky cookies. Drinks also consisted of hot chocolate, dark coffee, and coffee with milk. All the plating was done before the arrival of the guests, and then everything was brought outside on tables outside the theater doors. When guests arrived, volunteers were split into groups to manage each category of food and drinks, so it would be supplied at a constant and orderly rate while the guests waited for the event started. Once, the event started, volunteers waited until intermission to continue the same jobs. Overall, the event was a success, and there were many individuals who thanked us for preparing the sweets and warm drinks.

Rio Steam Night On January 28th, from 4 pm to 7:30 pm, thirteen volunteers assisted Rio Calaveras’ STEAM Night. Even though it was after school, this event offered a wide variety of display and physical experiments that students could learn from. For instance, there were booths in which individuals could plant their own sunflower and learn about the workings of plants, and in others, there were coloring pages meant for younger kids to show their creative artistry at the same time that they learn about science. Some volunteers were assigned to those projects, but there were also some who were needed to serve pizza and nachos for tickets. In addition to these great booths, there was also a star lab with a live presentation from a teacher and a show including a rocket launch from UOP students. Altogether, this event was not only exciting for the students and parents, but it was an inspiring experience for the volunteers.
Tiger Aquatics On the early morning of January 12th from 7 am to 3 pm, volunteers helped with making food and receiving orders from the visitors and swimmers who were participating in the Winter Classic Swim Meet. Eager volunteers were ready to sweep the cold away with their warm meals, and they did so quickly and effectively. There were breakfast meals such as breakfast burritos and pancakes in the earlier shift, while they transitioned to hot dogs and other food in the afternoon shift; Plenty of drinks such as coffee and water were also offered to thirsty customers. Between the shifts, volunteers were allowed to take a lunch break in turns, and they also enjoyed their warm meals. All six volunteers were able to contribute to the success, and at the end, the managers thanked them for their great work.
