May dcm and banquet On May 30th via Zoom, Division 27 North held a joint Division Council Meeting and Banquet with Division 27 South. With a staggering number of over one hundred attendees, the event proved to be a nice opportunity for the divisions to gather once more since quarantine has placed a barrier on gathering at events in person. At the DCM portion of the meeting, Lieutenant Governor Sebastian Flores facilitated new and old business, goals, club updates, and monthly recognition. Following the DCM, the banquet was a reflection of the achievements of everyone's hard work throughout the term, as well as a heartwarming and emotional goodbye to the Immediate Past Lieutenant Governors, Antonio Quesada and Nicole Nguyen. At the event, officers, members, clubs, and the DLT received recognition for their efforts throughout the term. Before everyone parted ways, video clips of events throughout the 2019-2020 term, taken by the Immediate Past Tech and Media Task Coordinator, Teya Wasel, were put together to reflect the good times and memories of the term. The banquet was a celebration of the successful old term, and the beginning of a promising new term.

e-lemon-ate challenge

toss it out tuesday

On Tuesday's Challenge of the Eliminate Week, i took part in the challenge of giving up fried chicken, which I frequently buy, and used that money saved to donate to the Eliminate Project. The purpose of the eliminate project is to protect the lives of mothers and their children. With the donations made, knowledge would be disseminated of maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) and purchasing vaccines. Furthermore, this was a meaningful donation to make because it pushed me to be selfless and save lives. $1.80 saves a life, and since I made a donation of $15, I made the contributions to save eight lives. Seeing other key clubbers on social media take part in this challenge of unleashing generosity to give up their personal desires, ranging from boba, starbucks, donuts, and fast food and use the savings to help mothers and their future childrens gave me the glimpse of the powerful contribution key clubbers all over CNH have when they unite together to fight MNT. article & visuals l 12

e-lemonate challenge On Wednesday of the Eliminate Week, Key Clubbers were encouraged to take a video of themselves eating a lemon to spread awareness on MNT. The Eliminate Project focuses on protecting mother and her future children from maternal and neonatal tetanus, known as MNT. Funds raised goes towards providing vaccines and spreading awareness of this disease. Though it was a sour and painful lemon to eat, I knew publicizing the challenge on social media would i nspire others to take on the fun and meaningful challenge, learn more about the Eliminate project and MNT, and donate as well to save future lives.

friends of the library

At this service event, volunteers helped price and relocate new book donations to prepare for the opening of the store. Because it is a non-profit, all books are donated and any and all money they make goes directly to libraries and programs to help educate children. They also make countless donations to the Salvation Army. Due to the closing of the bookstore, there were many donations that were in need of pricing, organizing, and replacing. With COVID-19 being a big issue, it was mandatory for volunteers to wear a mask and gloves and social distance as much as possible, as you can see in the pictures provided.

cards for healthcare workers

Last Month on May 8th, Division 27 North hosted a service event over zoom in which we made "thank you" cards for the health care workers who help treat COVID-19. As we entered the zoom we were asked to change our names to help keep track and organize the people who joined. Four members of our board along with our Advisor attended this division event. After an initial greeting we were broken off into smaller groups to stimulate conversation as we made the cards. Our LTG separately joined every group to make sure we were working and staying on task while also having fun, and he had to keep count of the number of cards we made. In the end we were all tasked to go to a nearby hospital and hand out the cards. Some of our board members dropped off their cards to a member who's mom is a nurse at St. Josephs Hospital. The nurses were very thrilled to see the cards and were very appreciative of our deeds. Overall this was a very wholesome and fun.
