message from the lieutenant governor Hello Grizzlies! Fall Rally North is all over! This does NOT mean our service and fun stops just yet! We still have the rest of this journey to get through. I want to thank all of you for being such a great family this term. You all continue to make me proud, with your amazing dedication and passion for making a change. Don't forget that we have plenty of events coming up this year like our dance and DCON! Make sure to keep raising money for District Convention 2020 in Reno, Nevada this year. Remember to continue working on your e-portfolios NOW for contests as well as think of some unique service projects and events to continue this year! So far, we have raised $5,721.57 for PTP and served 8,092.5 hours! Our increase in PTP funds and service hours is absolutely amazing! Thank you all for your amazing efforts. Lastly, at this time, a lot of clubs may be experiencing some declines in membership! DO NOT PANIC! Just make sure to have consistent FUN and MEANINGFUL meetings. Continue home club events, interclubs, and starting division events. Remind your members about our scholarships, graduation items, and awards. Then, feel free to contact me about any problems your having! I am here for all of you! See ya Grizzlies!

Trick Or Treat For UNICEF Since 1950, Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has raised nearly $177 million. Key Club International is partnered with UNICEF, raising funds for The Eliminate Project. Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF works in 190 countries around the world helping save and improve children’s lives. A yearly campaign runs from early July to late June the following year. The busiest time of the year is most definitely October during Halloween as students go around with small cardboard boxes asking for coins as donations. These boxes can be ordered as early as late August as orders will start shipping before September 12th. The latest a club will be able to order is October 24th, so plan accordingly! When all coins are collected, do not send UNICEF any cash! Instead, make an equivalent donation to UNICEF using a credit card or writing a check. All donations are tax deductible and you will receive a receipt in the mail.
Host a Halloween dance and collect admission donations! You can even provide food in exchange for donations as well. Be creative with themes such as a Murder Mystery, or incorporate a carnival. Host fun activities such as a costume contest, scavenger hunt, or put on a haunted house!
Partner with your local Kiwanis Club to host a Trunkor-Treat by decorating an appropriate parking lot and setting up activities. Invite community members to visit each vehicle or booth for fun treats and activities in exchange for a donation! Have members volunteer at the event as well and promote UNICEF!
Set up a booth at school where students can send a small bag of candy with a note or message to another student in the school in exchange for a donation. You can even add information regarding UNICEF on each note! Then have members deliver the candy and messages to students on Halloween!
Awake-A-Thon Awake-a-thon is one of Key Club's biggest fundraiser in which all of our funds are going towards Pediatric Trauma Program. There were service opportunities such as creating letters, bracelet, safety posters, and butterfly-Lollis. This event was one of our most tiring events as this event is from 8 PM to 8 AM. Key Clubbers fight themselves to stay awake through the night as do various other things like make friends, sing, and play games. This event was one of my most favorite as I feel like I got closer with a lot of Key Clubbers. Kalvin Ram - HCA
Pediatric Trauma Program Week MONDAY - Mini Me Monday TUESDAY - Tips & Tricks Tuesday WEDNESDAY - Wholesome Wednesday THURSDAY - Team Up Thursday FRIDAY - Fund Fact Friday PTP stands for the Pediatric Trauma Program. Trauma is the leading cause of death of children 14 and under in the United States. As a district, we fundraise to help create local projects; provide funding to train pediatric nurses, doctors, first responders; provide new medical equipment, etc. The overall goal of the pediatric trauma program is to reduce the number of children killed or injured by trauma. Pediatric Trauma Program Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness for the Pediatric Trauma Program through daily challenges. Thank you to all that participated this week! Thanks to your help, we were able to raise awareness for the pediatric trauma program.

Walk For Life Although the morning weather was overcast, the SECA volunteers still dedicated their morning to providing help to local events. Waking up and arriving to the event at 8 a.m., volunteers registered at the front booth. After getting signed in they were able to stroll around and take a look at the various booths that were being set up until their assistance was needed. SECA Key Clubbers were directed towards helping out the registration booth. At the booth, supporters of suicide prevention were able to register and receive a specifically sized shirt and a drawstring bag, which volunteers handed out. “It’s amazing to see so many people out here to support a cause they believe in. It’s even greater to see them all wearing one color to stand united,” Chelsea Enriquez remarked as she handed individuals their yellow shirts. After plenty of supporters were signed in, the walk began and the volunteers were moved to different stations. The locations they were placed at led supporters to walk in the correct direction. SECA Key Clubbers helped reroute the individuals that were led astray from the path or cheered them on to finish the walk itself. Overall, the volunteers felt victorious in the end to make onlookers recognize that receiving help is life changing. - Claire Rasamee (SECA)
UOP INTERCLUB Celina Padilla Middle College
On September 29th from 12 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., many Middle College Key Clubbers could have been found at the division and Circle K interclub! They gathered together at the University of the Pacific to meet UOP CKI members and do service. For the service portion of this interclub, members not only made cards, but also bracelets for children. Personally, I know that our members truly love making these little crafts for children because I know they know it is for a really good cause and always brings a smile to the children who receive them.
