Hello Grizzlies!
Hello 27 North!
Thank you all for sticking around keeping up the amazing service and fundraising.
For those that attended, I hope Fall Rally North was a blast! It is sad to think that that this is my last Fall Rally. Nonetheless, this Key Club year isn’t over just yet! There are many more fun events such as District Convention coming up soon.
We are in the month of December! Oh how time flies by! The month of December can still be very busy! Don't forget to plan some service projects in this holiday spirited month! There is plenty you can do from canned food drives, making blankets, PB&J Sandwich making, clothes drive, or much more! We will be having plenty of events to look forward to, so please stick around and check out our calendar. District Convention is only a few months away! Make sure you are finalizing up your fundraising efforts to finally help out the club. DCON is an unforgettable experience that I recommend everyone go to! You won't regret it! Thank you all for your continual support! It is absolutely amazing to see our growth from last term. Keep on serving and don't forget why we do it!
-Antonio Quesada

Spotlight On Service Providing Basic Needs
How To Submit
December is a time for taking final exams, finishing college applications, and fulfilling last minute resolutions. It’s also the time for giving gifts and giving back to your home, school, and community. While your schedule may be packed, remember to make time to give to those who are less fortunate. In California, Nevada, and Hawaii alone there are almost 541,000 children who will not get to spend the holidays in a home.
Clubs can submit to the form in order to receive recognition, which can be found under the “Spotlight on Service Program” page under the “Projects” tab on the CNH CyberKey.
The SOSP theme for December is “Providing Basic Needs” because the CNH District believes that Key Clubbers can make a difference by hosting events such as toy & clothing drives, volunteering at shelters and soup kitchens, or giving a family a great holiday memory. This December, help provide families with the basic needs to survive.

Pictures can be sent to cnhkc.sp@gmail.com. All submissions are due on the fifth of the following month by 6:00 PM (PST) or 3:00 PM (HST). One or more clubs are featured every month.
KEY LEADER What Is it?
Why?
Key Leader is a weekend experiential leadership program for today’s young leaders.
SELF-AWARENESS – Accurately accessing one’s feelings, interests, values, and strengths/abilities, and maintaining a well-grounded sense of self-confidence.
This life-changing event focuses on service leadership as the first, most meaningful leadership-development experience. A Key Leader will learn the most important lesson of leadership—it comes from helping others succeed. Participants begin by attending a Key Leader conference, which is a weekend retreat. Large and small group workshops, discussions and team-building activities take place over the course of the weekend. Students have opportunities to learn leadership skills that will help them to change their schools, communities, and world for the better. While exploring leadership in a whole new way, participants will make amazing new friends and have experiences they will never forget. Positive, ongoing interaction with other Key Leader graduates offers continuing reinforcement, encouragement and growth of leadership skills.
SELF-MANAGEMENT – Regulating one’s emotions to handle stress, control impulses, and persevere in overcoming obstacles; setting personal goals and academic goals and then monitoring one’s progress toward achieving them. The ability to express emotions constructively. SOCIAL AWARENESS – Taking the perspective of empathizing with others; recognizing and appreciating individual and group similarities and differences; identifying the following social standards of conduct; and recognizing and using family, school, and community resources.
District Convention (DCON) is an annual event to celebrate the achievements of the past year, to elect the new district officers, attend workshops, and meet new people. The California-Nevada-Hawai’i (CNH) District of Key Club International is comprised of 40,000+ high school students from all 3 states.
WHY ATTEND? Gain knowledge by attending amazing workshops (i.e leadership development, life skills, and college planning workshops). Participate on voting on district bylaws and electing the 2020-2021 District Executive Board. Talk to and get closer to fellow Key Club members and student leaders from the CNH District. Celebrate the annual recognition of officers, members and advisors Experience the district talent show and keynote speaker. Experience the bittersweet moments of congratulating and welcoming the 2020-2021 District Board while saying goodbye to the 2019-2020 District Board.
IMPORTANT DCON INFORMATION Location Grand Sierra Resort (2500 E 2nd St, Reno, NV 89595).
Date March 13th-15th, 2020.
On-Time Registration January 28th, 2020 (cost TBA).

Delta Humane Society Abigail Lo - McNair
From October 1st-12th, McNair’s Key Club volunteered at Delta Humane Society from times 8AM-4PM. As Delta Humane Society is a no-kill animal shelter, volunteers had a fun time playing and building a stronger relationship with the animals as well as the staff. Members were able to work head on with the animals and complete the same tasks as the employees there. Many members volunteered at Delta Humane Society throughout the entire week of their fall break and they were able to work well with the environment around them! Many members have built strong relationships with the animals and even said that they wanted to come back and volunteer again! Volunteering at Delta Humane Society was an unforgettable experience and it is definitely a service event that we would be interested in volunteering at again! “I went to DHS for the past two days and it’s been great! The staff is great and all the animals are cool too. I wish I could take all of them home.”
MANLIO SILVA HARVEST FESTIVAL Hoan Huynh - Chavez Manlio Silva Elementary School opens the Halloween festival was on October 25th and Cesar Chavez Key Club served for this event every year. This event is for kids to play games, get candies, dress Halloween and cosplay. There were many shifts for volunteers to sign up and many sections for them to choose. Cesar Chavez Key-clubbers served for Lollipop pull, hospitality, and golf sections. People need to pay half or one ticket for playing one of their favorite games. Losing the game, they will still get one candy. On the contrary, they will get more candies. This is one of the best events because volunteers will guide the kids to any sections that they want to play, talk to the kids, direct them to know how to play games, and help other volunteers by passing out water bottles. This service event helped us to improve our community service, get to know other volunteers from different schools, and gain more experience to work with kids.
