Spirit Training Conference Leilani Lor

| Mcnair

The first Spirit Training Conference of the year was quite eventful, as we had training sessions with members of the Spirit Team and even had a small spirit battle led by Spirit Task Coordinators Habeeb and Peter. We started the Training Conference with an ice breaker that is similar to Hug Fest, as Habeeb or Peter would yell out a topic and number, indicating for us to get in a group based on the topic and number. After the ice breaker, we were put into a single-file line and numbered off to be put into our respective groups to learn our division chants. We were later divided into two big groups for a mini spirit battle, one led by Habeeb and the other being led by Peter. We competed with each other to see who was the loudest, and Habeeb’s group won. Our very own secretary, Jason Tran, was allowed to keep the Spirit Training Conference spirit stick, as he was the loudest person in Habeeb’s group.

Our very first Spirit Training Conference happened on September 12th from 1:00PM to 3:00PM. The event took place at the American Legion Park, which is close-by to the ice rink. Covid waiver form, masks and key club spirit were required by all attendees! Our two spirit coordinators, Habeeb Khan and Peter Nguyen, led the attendees through two icebreaker activities. Members and officers were then divided into groups, featuring our spirit team as leaders in each group, to learn the division’s key club chants in preparation for RTC. The attendees spent roughly an hour learning chants like Big Bank, DIV, D27North, Get Grizzly, and many others! During our water break, members and officers could use this time to go over the chants for the spirit battle that would take place shortly. During the spirit battle, whoever showed the most spirit would win the STC stick made by Stella Torres, our Member Recognition Task Coordinator. The spirit battle was divided into two teams: Habeeb’s and Peter’s. The winner’s team would be determined by how loud and in sync a team was, judged by our LTG, Hailey Phan. Jason Tran, McNair’s Key Club Secretary, won the STC stick and that was determined by our Spirit Coordinators. We had another event to attend after STC ended, which was Grizzlies on Ice. From 3PM to 5PM, Grizzlies on Ice took place at Oak Park Skate Rink. Many members and officers were able to bond and skate!

STC was such an amazing event that every member should experience. It was so much fun learning new chants and doing friendly spirit chant battles. I never thought I would be attending just because I’m a really shy person at first. I absolutely love being able to talk to other members and get out of my comfort zone. But just enjoying this time for this key club event since this will be one of my last STC since I’m a senior. STC I started to lose my voice. But it was so worth it! Distressing over school

HCA's First Meeting

After many delays our first meeting has happened. Throughout the meeting we went through Key Club 101. We as officers mention our service catalog. Which is a google slide that has many online services. So if any members or officers can't make it to the DCM’s that have services or anything like that. There's always an option to do online and finish your service hours. For example Cranes for Cancer; every 5 cranes that you create equals 1 hour of service. Also our president Alynna basically made all the slides that she created. But added a barcode in that barcode is the linktree that has everything that is needed for the officers and members. Everything was straightforward but at the end we should have added an ice breaker because we did mention the meeting was going to end at 4 and it ended at 3:30. So now we know that if there's extra time we should add a service or just anything because the students will have to call their parents and just say that the meeting ended early.
