Greetings Grizzlies!
I hope all of you are enjoying this new, grizzlitastic year, and guess what? OCTOBER IS HERE and what does that mean?! FALL RALLY NORTH and halloween! To make it GRAMAZING and SPECTACULAR, we hope you bring your UNICEF boxes with you as you head out trick-or-treating! For more information, keep reading! As many of you may know, we are planning a divisional dance in December; though nothing is definite, be sure to come out and have some fun! DCM will be held before and must I say it will be fantabulous seeing all your grizzly faces! Stay tuned for more information!

REMARK
5 months have flown by already and it’s time to greet the autumn leaves with a great grizzly cheer. What’s up, Grizzlies! It’s your LTG, Justine, and I’m here to announce something BIG: Fall Rally North! The infamous Fall Rally is a legendary event among Key Clubbers and high school students everywhere. Key Clubbers all over Northern California will join together at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom for a day filled with rallies, fundraising, and roller coasters! Check up with your home club to get the latest information on transportation and fees. This is definitely an event you do NOT want to miss! Stay tuned throughout this newsletter for more detailed information on FRN. September came along with record service hours for this school year! Congratulations to the clubs who have dramatically increased reported service hours! Keep up the good work, family. Our community is thankful for all of the work you do!

KATHY LE, LODI HIGH
Hello, everyone! Allow me to introduce myself. I am Kathy Le and I am so excited to join the grizzly terrritory! Lodi High Key Club has not done any service events but has planned and emailed many places to get started. Right now we are holding a fundraiser for candle sales for PTP. We have not elected a historian, because we did not think that we needed one until I got this email today.. So we will be electing one our next meeting along with our committees. We’re not inactive, we’re just getting started! :) I hope I’m doing this right!
LAYLA YU, MCHS Salutations Grizzlies! September is finally here and this month is jam-packed with key club events! Our members had an incredibly fun time at CTF! Competitive events like these always make excellent bonding time for everyone. We are all winners for great sportsmanship and patience throughout the day! A few of our members joined with culture club volunteered at the annual Greek Festival! Our first official service event of the year will take place at Dell’ Osso Family Farms for Special Access Day. I’m sure many of our members will have an incredible experience spending their morning with kids, teens, adults, and seniors with special needs. To keep our service always in action, members are encouraged to bring plastic silverware donations for St. Mary’s Dining Hall weekly. We are very excited and can’t wait to get down to business!

This month SECA’s Key Club had our first club rush, and it was pretty successful. We had nearly 90 people at our first meeting, which is a really big jump for us and it went really well. We volunteered at the Heart Walk where we helped them set up and cheered on the participants. Some of our members volunteered at the Greek Festival with our Kiwanis club. We also finalized our ongoing service event with Peyton Elementary, so we will be there a few times a week tutoring. A fundraiser for PTP is also in the works. It has been a bit of a slow start, but we are getting things together and looking forward.

Club rush at Chavez had taken place last Wednesday. Many students anticipated to sign up for Key Club. Freshmans had no clue what Key Club does and our members nicely explained to them that we do community service. Once they heard our explanation they immediately signed up. Our goal of one hundred or more has successfully been achieved. We will have the chance to show new members are Key Club’s awesome cheer. Chavez has decided to fundraise with Skrathchers. We will get 90% of the profit made and I’m positive that by the time Fall Rally comes we would have raised $600.. We will sell glow sticks during homecoming. Each glow stick will be sold for one dollar. At the moment we are currently contacting the Stockton Emergency Food Bank. I am hoping that we are able to volunteer and have a great time distributing meals.
Lincoln has just resumed school. Since then, we have held a few Key Club meetings, informing previous and new members about what Key Club is all about, upcoming events, and what to expect for the school year! So far, we have seen many new faces in our club, and many are excited and eager to participate in service events and divisional activities! We held our first service event called “Senior Prom” at Golden Haven, where members will serve as dates of the elderly residents with Alzheimer’s in the facility. My officers and I have been creating flyers to recruit new members into Key Club hope to see many more new faces after club rush!

Bear Creek’s Key Club has finally participated in its first event – The Greek Festival. It was a huge success with 52 volunteers helping out in the dinning halls and directing traffic, in total, we accumulated 141 hours in just that one event alone! We are still collecting dues for RTC, T-shirts, and Membership applications; however, Bear Creek still hasn’t decided on the set price for Fall Rally… For the members who are deciding to attend this event, we have also enforced a rule that a member must help out with 3 events before qualifying to attend FRN. Other events include Coastal Clean Up, Family Day, and Advanced Placement Car Wash!

GREEK FESTIVAL On THE 7TH, I had the opportunity to volunteer at the Greek Festival where I monitored the children’s jump houses. The children really enjoyed themselves and I had fun getting to meet them and other volunteers. After the event, I was able to enjoy the festival. I tried new foods and watched the dance performances. Overall, it was a fun experience that made for a wonderful evening of service.

On the 8th, a handful of Key Clubbers helped out with the San Joaquin Heart Walk located at the University of the Pacific. At 7 AM, we helped unpack the boxes of apple juice and orange juices they planned to set out for the runners and walkers after they finished the path. After unpacking the beverages, 5 Key Clubbers helped with guiding the participants to their appropriate parking spaces. When the walk started, some of us joined the walk and cheered. Three remained at the starting place to hand out towels to the people who finished the walk. One of our members, Victor, dressed up in a ‘Mr. Heart’ costume and went around to greet participants. After the walk and the other forms of entertain ment ended, we helped clean up with the tables and chairs.

CREEK SIDE HARVEST CARNIVAL
I volunteered at Creek Side’s Harvest Fesitval to help work the haunted house. It was a fun experience We made people laugh, cry, and scream. My friend and I played the role of the grudge. We would sit on tfhe floor rocking back and forth. When people walked by, we would try to grab their legs out of no where. I was also a lost child stuck in a coffin that needed to saved. My other friend was a zombie, given the scary duties. He would chase and walk around staring at the kids. Though we spend countless hours scaring young children, I believe we spent quality bonding time with kids and overall, this is one of the best volunteer events before halloween.
