HI ALL YOU WONDERFUL PHOENIXES! How's your summer been so far? Can you believe that school is in just about a month? It's definitely hard to believe that summer has flown by, but my summer has been greatly spent with family, friends, and Key Club! I actually spent the first week of July in Orlando, Florida, for the Key Club International Convention! The experience was unlike any other. I was able to bond with so many Key Clubbers at Universal Studios and Epcot, meet Key Clubbers from all over the United States and even Jamaica, attend workshops and educate myself, dance my nights away with the Eliminate Dance, participate in the intense debates with the House of Delegates, and simply create memories and indulge myself even more into the Key Club world! I definitely encourage anyone who's interested in attending International Convention to attend next year's in Washington D.C. Anyway, school is getting closer as we speak, and although I wish our break can last forever, I'm so excited to be meeting the new Key Clubbers that will be joining our lovely organization. Be sure to welcome everyone with open arms and show them the caring and inclusiveness that Key Club has! Make some new friends and show them why you love Key Club so much because the Key Club love is contagious! Show them that spirit you have for serving others, because one thing that is definitely unique about Key Club compared other service organizations is the love and spirit you all have for serving. I remember volunteering at Three Square, and I remember walking in with this spirit that I had for serving because of Key Club. However I noticed that many of the other volunteers did not have that same spirit, so your spirit is special, Phoenixes! Keep it going and keep it burning forever! Never let the torch die down. Now here are just a few reminders. Don't forget that shirt designs are due on August 18th! We want to have a super fantastic shirt to represent our fiery division, so encourage all your friends who are talented and artistic to create a shirt design! Also, don't forget to continue submitting articles and visuals, and especially do not forget to continue serving. If you're having an unproductive summer, get off that couch and turn off the computer and go put a smile on someone else's face! Lastly, don't forget that if you ever need anything, you can contact me at anytime. However also, don't forget that if you ever need anything, you have your lovely division here to assist you as well! We have 14 schools within our division, Phoenixes. We're all one family, one TEAM. Together Everyone Achieves More, so never forget that you have your fellow phoenixes beside you if you ever need anything! Enjoy your last month of summer, and I can't wait to see you all soon!

INTERNATIONAL BY Silvia Lee | RANCHO
ICON 2012 was an extremely memorable experience. It was a jam-packed week of fun and I absolutely adored the time I shared with my fellow bees. From the incredibly long lines at Universal and Disney to what seemed to be ridiculously short goodbyes, ICON was crazy yet surreal. I realized that I never fully grasped what being a part of an international organization was like until the start of the convention. Throughout the convention I met so many amazing people. At the Service EXPO I met people who were passionate about their projects and were more than willing to share their vast amounts of knowledge and information. At the general sessions I saw each district unified as one, big body. At the dances I watched people dance the night away with friends and strangers. During our free time, there wasn’t a single moment where I could walk around without some stranger asking me where I was from and how I was enjoying the convention. Everyone was so kind and warmhearted. Being able to meet so many people with different backgrounds, pasts, and dreams from all across the country, and even out of it, was exhilarating. It was fascinating to see that such different people could aspire for the same thing, for a better world. ICON was a wonderful experience and I definitely encourage more people to try to attend next year’s ICON in Washington D.C.!

FIREWORKS BY Rosalyn Ngo | RANCHO Why not end the first month of summer with some great, action-filled volunteering? Out in the early morning, on June 30th, Lalisa Nopkars and I helped build and sold enticing fireworks towards the community! Not only that, I was able to meet great people from our sponsoring Kiwanis Club. Given this opportunity was very interesting, and I am looking forward to make an impact and make a difference at other events.
BY Lalisa Nopkars | RANCHO On Saturday, June 30, our Bulletin Editor and I had the opportunity to sell fireworks in a booth outside on the intersection of Rainbow and Patrick. Us two, along with our co-advisor, assisted our sponsoring Kiwanis in setting up the booth for sales considering it was the first day of sales. After setting up, we walked to neighboring businesses and informed them about the booth while handing them flyers. Even though we weren't able to sell any fireworks in those few hours, being able to participate in the booth was very enjoyable. It was a great first experience and a pleasure to work with our Kiwanis in any way possible!

Service Projects
OPPORTUNITY VILLAGE BY Chris Nowlin | A-TECH On July 14, a few Key Clubbers and I went to Opportunity Village to help setup for the Magical Forest event in December. It was really fun and exciting. I did not know that Opportunity Village starts this early to setup for Magical Forest. A few members and I were assigned to shape Styrofoam to make them look like bricks. It got really messy! When we were done shaping the Styrofoam, it looked like we were covered in snow. After we were done shaping the Styrofoam, other member were assigned to heat the Styrofoam to give it the bumpy effect that a brick has. As soon as we finished heating the Styrofoam, we took it to the forest
and assisted some of the Opportunity Village workers in making the castle. Seriously, that castle look pretty awesome when it was done. I was amazed. Our last task of the day was to separate the brown rocks from the white rocks around the castle. That was a really long and tedious job. It was worth it though, because the castle looked amazing. This community service project was exhausting, but it was worth work because I had fun helping out Opportunity Village. I look forward doing more community service with Opportunity Village and going to Magical Forest in the winter!

Monthly Highlights Monthly Highlights: May Member of the Month ALLISON JAE LENON Allison Jae Lenon has truly shown her dedication to Key Club around the school and the community. Even though she did not receive an officer position, she continued to participate in many events and continued to have an uplifting attitude to motivate those around her. Allison attended every general meeting and whenever she has the chance, she always asking questions about Key Club and offering the new ideas. Apart from her constant participation, she attributes a positive, upbeat attitude that
A-TECH participation, she attributes a positive, upbeat attitude that is contagious to other Key Club members. As a freshmen, she shows more involvement to her school and community than even the most dedicated seniors in our school. Allison Lenon truly deserves the Member of the Month award because she has shown that she is a Phoenix, and more importantly a Key Clubber, a leader who embodies optimism, spirit, character, and the desire to better the community!
Club of the Month: A R B O R V I E W
Monthly Highlights: June Member of the Month MARBELLA HERNANDEZ We nominated Marbella, not only because shes a great member to our Key Club, but the fact that she is doing a great job as Vice President as well. Ever since last year and this month she has never missed an executive meeting, general meeting, or event! She's been there to assist the officers and others! At executive meetings, Marbella always pitches in with ideas to better the club. She was great
CHEYENNE during recruitment week, inviting in a lot of people to sign up for Key Club. Also, her great personality helped a lot; for example at the Fightzlinez she was great with talking to people. I really think she deserves to be noticed for her hard work this month and the many more months to come.

Monthly Highlights: July Member of the Month JESSICA DIAMSAY Jessica always does her work without being reminded, and she always goes above and BEEyond what she is asked. She continues to communicate with the members and officers this summer and continues to do anything she can to help. She definitely does not
ECTA deserve to feel unappreciated for all the hard work she puts in as club secretary and as a member in general. She has a great attitude towards her job and towards Key Club which is why we nominated her.

JULY CLUB SNAPSHOTS ARBOR VIEW With summer finally here our members are very much enjoying their break off of school, but are definitely not taking a break off of service. We are keeping in touch with our members through the Internet and phones, and doing our best to make them aware of any service opportunity that presents itself. With Fourth of July coming up, members have been able to volunteer in a fireworks stand to help make sales. Although it is extremely hot in the stands, our fantastic members continue to work hard anyway. The project started on June 28th and will continue right up until the 4th of July. The members of the board are also working hard to find projects for the upcoming months of summer, as well as make plans for the upcoming school year. For now, we are all enjoying our summer full of sun, service, and spirt!
CHEYENNE During the month of June we had quite a few events. The week before school ended we had a campus clean-up day and invited new people to experience a piece of what key club does. We also had a couple of people go out to the Three Square Volunteer room where they set up, sorted, and distributed food to people in need. Near the end of the month of June we had an EXEC planning conference to discuss the upcoming events and to prepare for the meeting we would be holding on June 27. During the EXEC conference we also worked on some team building skills and learned new ice breakers. We also went through the an educational powerpoint about Key Club 101. One main event that we all very much enjoyed was the Vegas PBS Flight Lines charity event. At this event we were given the chance to inform people about PBS and the event that was taking place and we also got to dance so that people would join in with us. We were also given the wonderful privilege of meeting a famous BMX rider by the name of Ricardo Laguna who was very kind. Some of us stayed with Ricardo to help with anything he needed and the rest of us sold bubbles and glow sticks for the children. A few of us were also at the raffle table helping people sign up. Another great thing we did this month was our EXEC retreat/social. A few of the executives and Mrs. Mercado got together at Buffalo Wild Wings to discuss things about the club and eat some wings. Our president and Mrs. Mercado ate a significant amount of wings and had lots of fun together. They even got to play some games and win high scores.

PLEASE SEND IN MORE ARTICLES AND VISUALS!!! Although I am glad that a lot Key Clubbers continued to do community service throughout the summer, I want you guys to write about them. Share them with your fellow Key Clubbers and it takes at most 10 to 15 minutes of your time. Well, this is all I have to say for now and I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the summer! :D
