LTG INTRODUCTION Konnichiwa, Phoenixes!

With the hectic atmosphere in the air and the immense amounts of spirit drifting through Division 28 North, I hope that all of you are currently keeping up with your grades in school, extracurricular activities, and your family and friends life because your first priority should be your education and family! From that however, I just wanted to express my love for you Phoenixes out there because you all are doing such an awesome job so far. I am absolutely proud and ecstatic to see what all of you have done so far, and with Region Training Conference out of the way, we are out to attack Fall Rally South with our scorching hot spirit and service As the business portion for this section, I hope that ALL OF YOU have turned your dues in for the Early Bird status. If you did not, that is perfectly fine. HOWEVER, you must send it in before December 1 in order to be a club in good standings and marked with “on-time” status. Fall Rally South is just around the corner on November 19, 2011! I want to remind you guys of a few things that you should be aware of. Be mindful of the arrival and departure times for Fall Rally South since it is a fullday event, and we want to get everyone there and back as safely as possible. As of right now, please remember that Del Sol High School will be the spot to be at for when the buses arrive and depart. I will be making sure to give out the rest of those details at the DCM @ Eldorado High School on November 8, Tuesday, from 5 PM – 6 PM. We will be going over proper protocol during Fall Rally, division events coming up, and practicing our cheers. We’re already more than halfway our terms, officers! And that does mean that we will have to pass on the torch very soon. However, let’s make our time count with the best Division out there and live this year to the fullest! Have a great November, Phoenixes! And make sure to eat a lot during the wonderful Thanksgiving weekend! (: With tender love and care, Jarren Santos Lieutenant Governor 2011-12 Division 28 North Region 5 California-Nevada-Hawaii District

Recent Events Trick Or Treat for Canned Goods It is that time of year for East Tech and Las Vegas Youth Professionals, Trick Or Treat for Canned Goods for Salvation Army. The annual service project was established last year, as a way to combine each of the club's specialties and become active with the connection between Key Club and their sponsoring Kiwanis group. The project is a two week long process done every October every year. For each of the days, we would meet up in front of the school at 7 AM and end around 11 or 12 PM being the latest depending on the number of people. On the first day, October 9, 2011, we passed out flyers to every car and house at two of the neighborhoods next to the school. The key clubbers and Kiwanis group decorated the areas filled with fliers, leaving with no house or car left without one. The week after, October 16, 2011, my club and Kiwanis group and I returned to the neighborhoods to collect the canned goods. All of us went door to door, reminding our fellow neighbors on our visit to their area and the purpose to why are we doing this. We received plenty of donations to the point it filled up one of the adviser's pick up truck. The service project was a time consuming, tedious process that required everyone's effort into making this a success. Everyone did a good job in participating in this annual event and I'd like to thank all who attended this project's second annual food drive. We all did it in the name of, "Caring - our way of life." -Angela dela Cruz, East Tech President 2011-2012

ABOUT MONTHLY AWARDS, VISUALS, AND ARTICLES Monthly awards/Member nominations This is something new that will be implemented this year. Throughout the months, we will be having awards for Club of the Month and Member of the Month. Every month, a single member in your high school’s Key club will be nominated. September Club Snapshots Advanced Technologies Academy Another year has started with Key Club! Atech had their first meeting on September 8th, and we had many new, bright members. The first meeting ran smoothly even though we had a large crowd! We explained what Key Club is to new members and we shared with them some of our upcoming events. Many were excited about RTC and Fall Rally! Due to the popularity of dodgeball, we started the year off with an intense dodgeball game to raise money for Autism Speaks. Atech loves dodgeball, so we decided to host this 3 times this year! Another event we did this month was the Lorenzi Park Clean Up/Social. Members took time out of their Saturday and helped by picking up trash and wastes at the park. After the clean up, our wonderful advisors cooked burgers and hot dogs for our members. We also taught the new members some ice breakers. Overall it was a very successful event! Since RTC is coming soon, the club had a t-shirt designing contest. Many members participated and we received amazing designs, but our final winner was Dana Dimalanta. Congratulation to Dana and we all look forward to wearing her shirt design. To make it easier for the board to collect fees and count the votes for t-shirts, we had two split meetings. Dividing the classes into Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors. The meeting ran very smoothly and we were able to get all the information out. The board thinks this is a good idea and maybe we will do it every month or two month. Overall, the first month of the Key Club year started out wonderfully!

Legacy High School The month of September means the kick-off of Key Club! This month has definitely been incredible for our club. At our first meeting, we had 192 people attend! We did not expect such a great outcome that we even had to find a new place to host our meetings, but it was such a great feeling seeing all these new faces having interest in the club! Thus after our second meeting this month, we decided to give some of the new faces in Key Club a taste of what doing service is like, and for the first time ever we had a PB&J making for ShadeTree. We made 100 sandwiches to donate, and it was the first time any of us have participated in anything like it and we cannot wait to have another one soon and make even more sandwiches! Also, at the DCM this month, we are proud to say that one of our very own members, Ricardo Arzadon, was awarded Member of the Month for August! We are all so very proud and happy for him that his hard work and dedication was being recognized! Furthermore, our club has also started our very first fundraiser of the year with World's Finest Chocolate! It has been a success so far that all the boxes have already been checked out, some people have sold multiple boxes, and we have a great amount of profit coming in for our club. Now not only are we selling the boxes of chocolate, but we decided to host a booth at a major varsity home football game, Battle of the Bulls, and have a drawing for our 5 pound chocolate bar! In addition, we've elected our class representatives as well this month, and seeing their excitement to be more involved with the club is definitely inspiring; and speaking of inspiration, we've also had a visit by our very own Lieutenant Governor, Jarren Santos! It was incredible having him visit, show off his spirit, and chat with our club; and we definitely hope that his visit inspires our members, and hearing his excitement for our club means so much to us! We can't wait for you to visit again, Jarren! Basically, we've kicked off the month with a great start trying out new projects and getting new members, and our very own historian has also been working on our very first newsletter EVER! So we're pumped for this new year, and this month has been, without a doubt, awesome!
