Looks like another amazing month has come to an end, November came way too fast, don’t you think? It’s quite crazy how fast the year has been going, I wish there was a pause button to all this. Issue 1 was a great success, a lot of feedback and wonderful comments, thanks for the responses! Once again, if you would like to be in the newsletter, send in articles and visuals to my email and I’ll respond immediately because I would like to input a new segment called Stopping By for member interaction. Now that I got the hang of creating a newsletter, there should be more pages in it that
In this month’s issue of the “Longhorn Stampede”, have a look at Our Board for another round of questions as well as our new segment Class Representatives where you will get to read about our representatives. Recap has a full on spread on RTC and more events within the month of October and don’t forget the Need to Know section for the important stuff!
How has key club affected your life and what lessons have you taken from the club?
Since the time I was announced president, an extra gratitude and appreciation for Key Club has enlightened me! I feel now that I am in service to you, the members. Knowing that I want to please you is all is a humbling experience. Key Club has shown me to be a humble servant and to not serve with my interest but to please others in the process. This is why you all often see me so smiley and happy! Being in Key Club also has taught me many lessons such as being open to many opinions, ideas and varieties upon varieties of personalities! It feels so good to humbly serve to it!
First of all I just want to say Key Club is an experience that needs to be lived not read about, for that’s the only way to truly understand its benefits. For me, Key Club had thoroughly dissolved any previous feelings that I may have had against community service in the fact that it’s always boring and useless. With all the fun activities and spirit that endures in every event, there is no way that anybody would be able to believe my last statement to be true. Key Club has opened my eyes to see the world in a more inviting way for great opportunities and limitless hours of service, not only to better the community around me or the world untraveled, but to better myself and those near me. Without Key Club, school would just be school, and I probably wouldn’t have as much friends on Facebook.
Key Club has taught me the importance for our community. It has taught me the true lessons of service. There is more than one way in serving my community. Whether it is cleaning up roads, feeding the homeless, or removing graffiti from our city. If we take care of the little things, the little things will take care of us. We give to our city; our city will surely give back.
How has key club affected your life and what lessons have you taken from the club?
Key Club has affected my life tremendously. Without the experiences I have had with Key Club, I would definitely not be the person I am today. That may sound cliché, but it is true! Many people who have known me since freshmen year or maybe just even last year, they've seen a great GROWTH in me progressing into this year. In the years past I've always been soft-spoken, had little confidence, and was confused of who I was. However, through Key Club, I've started to discover who I was and I discovered who I WANTED to be. I've discovered where I fit in and my passions. In the past I would never have thought that I would want to be a leader because I had FEAR of failure and embarrassment. However, through Key Club I've learned that fear is something that has always held people back; even held me back, not just from being a leader, but from being myself and going after things that I wanted. Never in my life have I ever felt so inspired, but this club has been my inspiration the entire time; and never in my life would I have considered to want to continue leadership outside of high school! There were definitely some great leaders who have been my inspiration along the way and have helped me find the inner leader in me, and now I just hope to continue to inspire others and change lives the way those leaders did for me and help make the world a better place one person and one community at a time.
Well, Key Club has affected me in one way and that is positively. It has brought the tools for me to be a great leader, a leader of my peers. It has showed me many doors that were once invisible, yet now seen by my eyes and I have many more opportunities to better my future. I have met so many incredible individuals, all unique! Having their own quirks, talents, and persona; only the kind of people you would meet in Key Club. They are key clubbers, I am a key clubber. Thanks to Key Club my life has changed for the better and my future is brighter than ever.
There is too much to write to explain how Key Club has affected my life, for one, I have changed for the better, I am more outgoing than I use to be and it has taught me responsibility and organization. It has opened my eyes to see things more differently such as the act of community service which is something that you will be proud of shouting to the world. You get that sense of accomplishment and warm feeling of helping somebody out even if it was a simple act. Through Key Club I have attained leadership skills and faced my fear of being open. I am so glad that I can say that Key Club has affected my life positively and that I am a part of it. Key Club affected my life in the ways of how I think of the community, because before that I didn’t really do any community service. Now after Key Club I see many things that show me a great feeling when helping out people and the environment. The smiles on faces of many reflect me because I guess it feels great at heart. It’s a pretty cheesy reason but it’s what I think is appropriate, anyways there are many lessons that I learned after Key Club. Those are like the simple leadership, character building and caring. It helps me realize some steps for a brighter future. I am glad for associating myself with Key Club and helping those who are affected.
Hello Key Clubbers! This is my first year being in Key Club. I hope that I make a lot of friends here and meet all of you on a one on one. I am really chill and a relaxed person. I love to be part of big things and I know that Key Club is that thing that will send me out to do the stuff I love to do, so I can’t wait to have the most amazing time of my life in Key Club.
I’m a junior. Second year of Key Club. I actually tried to join when I was a freshman, but I didn’t have the time to. Sophomore year I was dedicated to myself full time. SO this year I ran for junior rep. I did all this because it was a way to help out the community. I’m here to serve everyone, especially my fellow members. I plan to run for an officer next year. To show the potential of this club and the individuals in our group who supports and do their service.
Hey Key Clubbers! This is my 3rd year of Key Club. I remember joining Key Club when I had no idea what I was doing. I learned what Key Club meant during that time. A my 3rd year of Key Club service, I’m hyped up to show the community, school and our members what the Key of Key Club really means. We are the Key to teaching others about leadership through community service, showing how our club can make a huge difference and having a good time while we are at it.
Eyy Key Clubbers! I am your Sophomore Rep. This is my first year in Key Club, I joined this year because I wanted to be part of a group whose goal was to improve more than what is just around them. I learned about Key Club through a friend and found myself loving Key Club before I was in it. I soon realized that Key Club wasn’t just a club but an ohana (family), so I ran for class rep and it has honestly been an amazing experience. I can’t wait to make more memories with you all!
This is my first year at Legacy, however not in Key Club. I’m just like any other kid, ambitious and always trying new things. As a freshman I heard how fun it was to go to RTC and Fall Rally, but after those passed I stopped going to meetings. But I knew that when I would join Key Club again this year, I needed to be more dedicated. That whole mindset ultimately led to me being a class rep, which I’m happy to be!
About me: Well I’m Dominick Anouvongs. I’m Laos and Thai. I like to dance and love to listen to music. A very nice guy. I love to watch and play sports. I go for the Ravens and Lakers. Well that’s mainly it about me.
*Daniella is the other Freshman Representative for our Key Club. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, don’t be afraid to go up to her and talk to her!
On Saturday October 8th, the officers and many of the RTC attendees headed over to Aliante Park to learn new cheers and to have some fun bonding with fellow members. The sun was out and the members were ready to have some fun, although a stop to the ice cream van was a little treat to those who needed to cool off. After some cheers and periodic five minute breaks, ice breakers came into play. “I love my neighbor”, “Hey baby” and “Ride that Pony” was a great way to boost the energy and end the day to Cheer Mania.
On Thursday October 20th, Legacy Key Club held their yearly induction of new members into Key Club. While many members and parents walked into the cafeteria, where the event was held, officers did last minute adjustments. The members dressed formally with a hint of blue to go with the theme “Everyday I’m Key Clubbin”. After the speeches given from Ms. Hofhein and Alyssa Sarti, members came up one by one to claim their recognition of a new member and some photos. Afterwards the music began to play and cake, cookies and capri suns were being served to finish the induction.
REGIONAL TRAINING CONFERENCE o
October 22, 2011 was the day of this year's Regional Training Conference, and what a blast the clubs sure had! We arrived there early in the morning getting ready for a day of spirit: painting faces, hair spray paint, capes, and more! However, not only was it a day of spirit that the clubs were able to experience, but they were opened up to the world of Key Club. Everyone attended workshops that allowed them to see more in depth of what Key Club is about. It was as if everyone made a discovery into a whole new world because this organization is a different world on its own, and seeing all the new members’ faces of how great this organization really is definitely seemed to inspire them. Now, our club walked into RTC not being as loud nor as spirited, but by the end of the day, it was as if something hit them. Everyone united as one and supported one another. They broke the status quo between each other and begun meeting and hanging out with new people. A bond was building at RTC within our own club and amongst others and it shown when we were of the six finalists in the cheer competition!

UNICEF
Springs Preserve For those of you who signed up to volunteer at Springs Preserve thank you for doing so! Those who helped out were given positions where they gave out prizes, guided the children, helped punch cards, helped with food etc. They made the Haunted Harvest fun and successful for the kids who came out in Halloween costumes and it was a great way to get some service done.

To raise money for project eliminate, members went around with UNICEF boxes and or dressed up in the UNICEF box to get any donations they can to go towards the great cause.
Walk to End Alzheimer’s Key Clubbers from others schools as well as Legacy were able to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which was held at Fashion Show Mall on October 29th from 9am to 10am. Though it was not a Key Club held event, Key clubbers still called out cheers and supported the event by walking through the interiors of the mall and donating as well.
