Walnut Key Club

Walnut Key Club assisted Westhoff Elementary School’s Family Festival on May 17th. Walnut Key Clubbers were told to help set up and run game booths and floaters for the children at Westhoff. For instance, some Walnut Key Clubbers were assigned to work at a basketball station, allowing kids to try basketball for the first time, possibly creating new interests for them. Additionally, Ellies were able to join the fun and play alongside the children during their breaks. The Walnut Key Club volunteers were not only able to help Westhoff’s event proceed smoothly but also connect with the students at Westhoff through friendly interactions, leaving impactful memories of delight and excitement. General member, Kyle Le stated, “It was a lot of fun volunteering at Westhoff because I was able to help out the children while also hanging out with my friends.”

Overall, Westhoff’s Family Festival created an opportunity for Walnut Key Club to create a significant impact on the community’s elementary schools.

STEMSTERS WORKMAN HIGH SCHOOL

Last month on May 22nd, 2024, Workman Key Club worked with STEMsters to host an egg drop experiment at Holy Trinity Lutheran Preschool. Four of our members, along with one member of STEMsters, first taught the children from this school about physics concepts such as gravity and collisions. Then, we went on to help them build contraptions made out of straws, cardboard, tape, and rubber bands in order to prevent their given egg from cracking when dropped during the experiment.

Overall, This was a very fun event that allowed us to socialize with kids as well as creatively educate them about important scientific topics.

In the words of our Key Club President, Serenity Tran, “It was fun getting to socialize with them and learning how their minds work in creative ways too. I personally got to meet kids who work outside the box and are determined to succeed. I hope to host and participate in more events like these!”

OFFICER MEETING

DiamondBarHighSchool

Startingthetermoffstrong!

In this past month of May, it was a busy time for all members, it being AP and finals season and especially officers getting into the new 2024-2025 officer board. As a celebration and introduction to the new term, our officer board held a lunch meeting where each officer brought a candy and we made a candy salad.

This event allowed for us to get to know other officers, break the ice, and preface us on an overlook of our duties and the year. We introduce ourselves on camera while pouring in our sugar filled bags and watch as the candy salad fills up like a symbol of our ideas in the year ahead.

We will pour our thoughts into our club and watch as they swirl together into one sweet creation.

BREAKFAST SERVICE EVENT

n this beautiful morning of May 18th, from 7 am through 12 pm, the scent of freshly cooked pancakes filled the air as the Covina Keyclub and Northview Keyclub joined hands for a service project. We spent our time, eager to help, as we set up the breakfast area and transformed it into a welcoming haven for all attendees. Side by side with our Kiwanis partners, we joyfully served steaming hot pancakes to all coming and shared smiles, creating a wonderful atmosphere of togetherness.

OIt was a gorgeous testimony to the value of teamwork and service as we reveled in the knowledge that our efforts truly made a difference in the lives of others.

WHAT WILL YOU MISS THE MOST ABOUT THIS SCHOOL YEAR?

“I will miss hanging out with all the graduating seniors and all my teachers this year. I’ve made many memories with them, and will miss them dearly, but I’m wishing them luck in college!!!”

“The thing I will miss the most from this past school year is the people!!! I made so many amazing friends over the years that I love so much and spending my senior year with them was so amazing. Key Club especially has helped me build bonds and make memories that i’ll never forget and miss forever :,))”

“What I’ll miss most about this school year is probably having my sister at school with me. She’s graduating this year so I’ll no longer see her in the halls or have her to help me on the farm.”

“The thing I will miss the most this school year is the seniors I’ve interacted with through Key Club! From our IP LTG Abbi to General members like Rebecca from Nogales. Each of them, especially my IP President Pedro, inspired me to put myself out there and push forward no matter if I was scared or if I doubted myself. They have given me so many amazing memories that I won’t be forgetting anytime soon. To the seniors who helped me get to where I am in Key Club. I love you guys so much and I’ll for sure make you guys proud.”

“I will miss the memories made with the class of 2024. I’ll miss the events hosted such as the DCMs and volunteering opportunities. One of the main memories I’ll miss is the Skating 4 PTP event. It was really fun and was hosted on the day of my birthday.”

IICEBREAKER ICEBREAKER CEBREAKER

I will miss my friends from this school year since some of them are moving schools.”

“...I am not gonna be able to relive my Junior year of high school, and that I won’t be able to be a 16 year olds high school student anymore. I miss those senior friends that I have made throughout this school year. And that most of the seniors in high school were really fun to hang out with. But sadly.. they all have graduated”

is getting the opportunity to see my friends every day. Without school, I wouldn’t get to have lunch with them every day, walk them to class, or work on homework together even though we end up getting nothing done. Not only did I get to spend time with the people I’ve known for years, but I’ve also become closer to those who I’ve rarely spoken to. Compared to last year, this one made me enjoy the classes that I once dreaded because of the people I’ve connected with. Although the summers are meant to spend time with friends, school gave me the privilege to speak with them every single day.”

“What I will miss about this school year are the wonderful teachers that I had, along with my friends who were seniors. With Key Club, I will miss my friend being a part of the board because I know how hard he worked to be an officer. I will also miss all the interactions I had with people all around the school because it might not be the same next year.”

one of the main things I will miss this school year are the memories I created with my friends. As much as I wished for the school year to end quickly in the beginning, now that the end of the year is approaching, I want everything to go by at a slower pace. I’ve learned this school year to appreciate time as it goes by too quickly. It was amazing to see how much my friends and I have grown together throughout the year. However, a new year will soon approach, and there I can start creating even more memories with the people I love which can also make it exciting!”

“What I will miss most about this school year is definitely my AP Lang class and my Robotics class. Both of those classes were just so enjoyable, it felt like I knew everyone and everyone knew me! Being able to talk to people and collaborate on projects was fun. I’m really hoping I get to have a class next school year that was s awesome as those two classes!”
