Letter From The Lieutenant Governor

What’s Poppin Narwhals?! I hope all of your summers have been going great so far! The heat is doubling down every day so make sure to stay cool and hydrated. Moving on, I would like to thank you all for attending the our Avengers Assemble August DCM! Throughout your busy schedules and summer break, the fact that you take time for Key Club is always greatly appreciated. There were plenty of great presentations to learn from and I hope you all took something away from each of them.

Now that we are done with OTC, we are hopefully going back to events in person starting with our Avengers Assemble August DCM! Check your emails and the Division Instagram for more details on that but get excited!!

Make sure to mark your calendars for the next big event, RTC or Region Training Conference! We are set to have RTC on September 25th, 2021 but the time and venue is still TBD. Stay tuned for more details. We are also going to be announcing the service project for August very soon so make sure you participate in that to rack up those service hours! With that being said, I hope you all stay safe, get vaccinated as soon as possible, and enjoy the rest of your summer!

2021 October News! D42E As the school year has continued many clubs have started wonderful service projects and fundraisers! To the left are some wonderful service projects that many key clubs in the division have put together! Some clubs have also just hosted their club rush this past month and have recruited some new amazing narwhals!

RHS Key Club Is Fundraising for PTP D42E - Royal Key Club Editor, Ella McCrossan Royal High School’s Key Club had its first fundraiser of the school year to raise funds for the Pediatric Trauma Program (PTP)! This is a fundraiser that the club has held in previous years but had to hold off on last year due to the school closures. The club bought boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts in order to sell by the dozen for ^ A photo of our amazing narwhals pre fundraising ready! $10 a box at the first football game of the school year. RHS Key Club members, including a majority of the board, set up a table and sold the donuts before and during the game. The fundraiser was a huge success! The club sold 90 dozen donuts! This number is the largest RHS Key Club has seen with this fundraiser, so the club plans on continuing this fundraiser at as many football games as ^ The cutest infographic to support an amazing cause! possible!

Westlake Key Club Hands out Donated School Supplies D42E - Westlake Key Club Editor, Emmy Adler The Westlake High School chapter of Key Club has had a very successful return to school! For many Key Club members, quarantine prevented them from participating in community service, so we are so thrilled to get back into the swing of things. We’ve had a multitude of service opportunities offered to us, the first one of the school year being handing out donated school supplies with Westminster Free Clinic! This event took place on Wednesday, August 11th, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the United Methodist Church on 1000 East Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, 91362. This event’s objective was to distribute school supplies donated to the church to those who needed them. Participants helped hand out backpacks and school supplies, which hopefully gave those who received them an excellent start to the school season!

^ An incredible infographic promoting the amazing event!

Color A Smile and Cancer Kids First D42E - Simi Valley Key Club Editor, Jensa Thomas We decided to share two remote volunteering projects that our club members could join. The first service project was Color a Smile. This project is a nonprofit organization that distributes cheerful drawings to Senior Citizens, Troops Overseas, and more. . Similarly, the second service project, Cancer Kids First, revolves around art-based volunteering. Cancer Kids First also has other opportunities that can be found on their website, but since we were sharing art-based service opportunities, we highlighted Cancer Kids First's art team. The best part of these service opportunities is that these projects are something Key Club members could easily do from their own homes, helping them stay safe from Covid yet still create a difference by providing a smile to others who need it the most.
