FLORY HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL by Anjali Khandelwal This year I volunteered at the Flory Halloween Carnival on Friday, October 24th. It was so much fun to play and entertain the kids while working at my carnival booth. It felt so good to give back and help out in my old school and support their students. I am so proud to be apart of such an amazing community and to create such a positive influence this night during the holidays.

REGION 10 TRAINING CONFERENCE by Brittney Sawai Our Region Training Conference was such a fun experience. It was great to meet and interact with new people from our division and others. The presentations were informative and nicely put together along with the speakers who presented very well. Being a new member of Key Club, this was an awesome learning experience as well as a social event.

KIWANIS FAMILY LIBRARY SERVICE by Kevin Nguyen On Saturday, November 1st, Moorpark Key Club, Kiwanis Club, and Builders Club helped out at a local library. After coming together, our clubs have realized how much of an impact we can truly make. We came together to work on the site of knowledge that provided a source of power for thousands of children to unite and learn. The strenuous works of a librarian were appreciated and lessened with us cleaning, cataloging, and shelving books for a couple of hours. Any deed of service, large or small, proves and shows how volunteering can truly impact our community.

Moorpark Club Goal: $100 Amount Raised: $133.28 # of boxes: 9 Length of fundraiser: ~2 weeks The most memorable thing about this fundraiser was seeing how much change can be saved up and donated to create such a great amount over a little period of time. - President Kevin Nguyen

Newbury Park WHEELS TO THE SEA by Kendall Sing The experience that I received from The Wheels to the Sea is one I will never forget. I learned the hardships and dependence many disabled kids had to face when having no motor control in their legs. I also got the chance to experience how it felt to live and be dependent on someone else for a period of time. I saw many kids who faced these hardships but still kept on a smile on their face. This trip will always remind me how fortunate I am and to live my life to the fullest.

FALL RALLY by Diana Tai Yesterday was my last Fall Rally. Thinking back to last year’s Fall Rally, it is amazing to see how much everyone has grown and changed, but is still just as passionate and spirited about Key Club. Once again I was able to meet Key Clubbers from schools all over Southern California, and it humbles me to see thousands of members gathered together to raise money and awareness for PTP. I was amazed by everyone’s spirit and the tutus and signs just get better every year. This year, 13 members from my club attended Fall Rally, which was more than we’ve had in the past years. I’m glad for this opportunity because I got to know each of them better and it makes me proud that the future of this club will in such capable and compassionate hands.

FALL RALLY by Joe Dixon Fall rally was a great experience because it allowed me to meet people from other schools in Key Club. Everyone was extremely friendly, with many offering free hugs and applauding at our chants. I thought the effort put forth my some of the districts was amazing, and I loved seeing people so motivated to improve themselves and their community. Overall, I would definitely recommend my fellow key club members to participate in Fall Rally in the years to come! Go Narwals!

FALL RALLY by Joslyn Wang The 2014 Fall Rally South was an amazing experience. It was my first Fall Rally, and I loved seeing all the different divisions and all the spirit they had. I was amazed by the amount of people who were part of Key Club and it was an experience I won’t forget. I can’t wait till the next Fall Rally! :)

Club Goal: $130 Amount Raised: $180 (Not all boxes are in yet) # of boxes: 25 Length of fundraiser: ~2 weeks The most memorable thing about this fundraiser was counting lot and lots of coins! Also, seeing all our members collectively help out with this great cause. - President Irena Yang

Oak Park MAKING A NEW SPECIAL FRIEND by Diane Kim I had such a great time at Friendship Circle! It was my first time going on October 26th from 1-3:30pm at Yerba Buena Elementary. I got paired up with Jamie, who is 13 years old. She is so incredibly nice and bubbly! I did arts and crafts with Jamie, along with music and just talking. The arts and crafts supervisor liked how I was encouraging Jamie with her fine motor skills. She is only two years younger than me, but I have a feeling I will learn a lot from her.

KEY CLUB TIE BLANKETS by Tyler Smith For a portion of our last two meetings, the Oak Park Key Club has been making tie blankets. This great project has attracted many members to the meetings, as they get important information and get to actively volunteer during a meeting. The blankets have different patterns and are turning out to be really cute. We will be donating these blankets to a children’s hospital or other children’s organization. The whole process has been really fun. This year we are trying to incorporate some active volunteering meetings, and so far this project has been a great start!

HOLLOW HILLS FAMILY FUN FAIR by Kelley Lam We attended the Hollow Hills Family Fun Fair this year! We had many volunteers come in and help put at various booths. We helped out at booths such as hair flairwhwre we helped the vender spray childrens’ hair with multiple colors and SPARKLES! We also helped out at a potty booth where we assisted in handing out prizes to little kids! We even got a picture of one of our members trying to be funny and entertaining the kids and people around that area. We loved the fact that we got to work and help our community and volunteer alongside other student organizations such as leadership and people from Builder’s Club. It was a lot of fin seeing and meeting new people and supporting one of our local middle schools!

RELAY FOR LIFE by Kelley Lam We attended and volunteered at Relay For Life! We had five volunteers go and it was soo much fun! We got to help our Kiwanis Family at their food truck and our members helped cook the burgers and wrap them up for the people! It was a lot of fun and it was a great way for us to connect to our Kiwanis Family while serving food to people who are walking at Relay for Life for a great cause! The members that participated said that they had a lot of fun and that it was a great opportunity for them to meet new people in Kiwanis, and they said that it was an amazing thing to see just how much Kiwanis helps our community out! We saw and were made aware of certain events coming up, and we got to spend the day getting closer and building amazing relationships with not only our Kiwanis Family, but people from other schools in Simi Valley like Simi High!

Royal Did not participate in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF this year.

HOLLOW HILLS FESTIVAL by Jessica Cornel It was my second year volunteering at the Hollow Hills Family Fun Fair along with my fellow Key Club member, Shaan Chima. We had a really fun time being in charge of the bouncy slide. It was nice to see that when I got to the Volunteer desk, that there weren’t any places for me to go help out. There were more than enough volunteers already but I did what I could, and the other volunteers were so helpful as well. We had such a great time and we can’t wait for next year’s Family Fun fair.”

SAMARITAN CENTER by Katie Guadagno On November 7th, I volunteered at the Samaritan Center with a few fellow Key Clubbers, as well as Kiwanis advisers. We served food to the less fortunate and made simple conversation in addition to singing fun songs together as we worked. Overall it was a joyous, eye opening experience.

FALL RALLY

by Jessica Cornel

My second year at Fall Rally was just amazing! I met so many people from other districts and the spirit from them is just amazing. Although I’ve never met them, I’m just really glad that I could meet them with such ease and give them a big hug! Fall Rally and Key Club in general has truly changed my life and I’m truly happy to have this opportunity. I had a true Kiwani’s Moment.

FALL RALLY by Lynn Reardon I was really nervous since it was my first Fall Rally. I got over my nervousness when I saw how nice everyone was. I got to do the how do you feel cheer and ask others. I feel that I got closer to the other Key Club Members. I loved the accessories we got. The signs were really cute! I’m sad that some of the members won’t be with us next year. I wish you guys the best and thank you for being with us this year! I love you guys!!!

Club Goal: $100 (realistic) and $250 (dream) Amount Raised: $260 (Not all boxes are in yet) # of boxes put in classrooms: 10+ Length of fundraiser: ~2 weeks The most memorable thing about this fundraiser was seeing the support we got in classrooms. Teachers reminded their students about the box everyday, and these ended up being the heaviest boxes. - Vice President Sally Deng

Thousand Oaks MYSTERY AUCTION by Mihoko Kubo The auction was such a fun experience for everyone. We bid on mystery gifts that were wrapped so we didn’t know what they were until we paid for them. There were silly items like a bag of grapes to more prized items like a $25 Starbucks gift card. I auctioned off a mini travel-sized toothpaste which was sold for $10.02 by an eager fellow, whose hopes and dreams were crushed when he found out that the neatly wrapped petite box was a tube of minty goodness. At least the $10.02 contributed to ELIMINATE as well as a brighter smile.

PAINT-OUT GRAFFITI by Irene Jang We went to a tunnel with a lot of graffiti on Wendy Road. We cleaned the outside and had to go inside the tunnel to paint a few sections, and then also cleaned the wall of the other side. It was next to the freeway so it made me feel industrious. It was so much fun! The Kiwanians were very nice and outgoing and humorous and they even brought donuts for us!

Simi Valley SYCAMORE ELEMENTARY HARVEST CARNIVAL by Grace Ponce On Friday, October 24, 2014 Simi Valley High School Key Club members volunteered for the Sycamore Elementary Harvest Carnival. The Sycamore Elementary Harvest Carnival was a pleasant experience. I was one of the many volunteers that helped run the booths and made sure everything ran smoothly. I helped collect tickets for a “Fishing” booth, and I also supervised the obstacle course. The obstacle course was a popular area for the children and many of them raced each other. The Harvest Carnival was filled with fun for both the volunteers and the elementary school children. Club Goal: $50 Amount Raised: $76.59 # of boxes: 10 Length of fundraiser: ~30 days

Westlake FALL RALLY by Sophie Bartley On the crisp morning of November 15th, Westlake key club members Rachel, Erika, Jennifer, and Sophie set out to conquer fall rally. A first time for all, it’s fair to say they were a bit overwhelmed by the thousands of other key clubers and the numerous cries of “how do you feel?”. The spirit rally was an experience unlike any other as the Westlake members learned what it truly means to have spirit! They got to cheer along with the other clubs and root for the lieutenant governors to be sold. Overall, fall rally was an exciting adventure that really brought the four girls together and made them feel like true key club members.

Did not participate in Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF this year.
