It’s time to let your inner explorer, scientist and inventor out! Get ready to be creative, get messy and work as a Family using recycled materials to create new toys and answer challenges. Activities Include: Bouncy Huts, Cardboard Challenge Area, Rocket Target Range, Lego Builders, Cup Challenge, Toys from Trash (upcycled/recycled materials), Building on Water, Ever-changing Interactive Art and more. Food, drinks and balloon animals will be available for purchase. Material drop offs can be done the day of the event or at any CYS facilities until the project is completed.

Sat Cherry Blossom Festival 1 & 8 April Tour to ChinHae The Chinhae Cherry Blossom Festival is the largest festival of its kind in Korea with many different activities, art and cultural performances, and tons of photo ops! Start the tour at Gyeoung Hwa Train Station which has been in many Korean dramas and movies. Move to Chinhae Naval Base which open to the public during the festival. Take stunning photos in the 1.5km cherry blossom tunnel and around the base. Trip to Everland Amusement Park & Tulip Festival

Everland is the largest amusement park in Korea and holds an impressive tulip festival with over 1.2 million tulips and over 100 different varieties. Themed gardens, sculptures and paths are stunning to walk through. For those with the need for a bit more excitement, check out all the rides that Everland has to offer. Spend 8-10 minutes of the most heart pounding, adrenaline rushing, experience you have had in a while! If you want proof, you can have a video taken of the long trip down from the top of Mt. Yangbangsan. Rose Festival & Daewangam Trekking

The Ulsan Rose Festival boasts over 3 million roses and over 260 variety of roses. Themed gardens will amaze you with their splendor and is a perfect place to spend the morning walking in the Cupid Garden, Venus Garden or Rose Hills. Birds, monkeys and meercats can be found in the rose garden. After enjoying the roses, drive to Daewangam Park and spend an hour walking and enjoying the view of the mysterious rocks in the sea which look like a dragon. The German Village on Namhae Island will bring you around the World. Jecheon “Slow City” & Canoeing Tour

Korea has jumped on the “slow city” movement which is similar to the slow food movement, improving the quality and enjoyment of living. Jecheon is known for its beautiful reservoir and mountains and nearby Chungpung Lake. Take the first cable car connection from the main land to an island in Korea! Fly through the air over the sea, while looking out at the stunning scenery. Warrior adventure Quest (WAQ) is a soldier reintegration program which combines a high adrenaline activity with resilience skills training. 764-4440 or 764-4432

WAQ is endorsed and supported by FMWR and the Army Medical Department (AMEDD) and can be coordinated through USAG Daegu Outdoor Recreation located at the Camp Walker Community Activity Center. This training presents coping outlets to help Soldiers realize their own new level or normal during and after deployment. Units choose a high adventure activity (Ropes course/zip lining, rock climbing, ATVing, biking, rafting, skiing, etc.) which is tied to resilience training. The training enhances unit readiness by building unit cohesion.

Depart from the Camp Walker Lodging at 0915 The adventure begins at Camp Walker Lodge at 0915. Along the way we will share with you how to purchase subway cards and tokens, navigate and ride both subway lines and the monorail, explore a traditional Korean Market and the downtown area including Dongseongno, the busiest street of downtown Daegu. Explore some of Daegu’s famous alleys such as Yasi-golmok Alley, Gyoding Market Food Alley, Gyodong Market Electric Device Alley and Coffee Shop Alley, and learn how to return to Camp Walker on the subway.

-No pets are allowed on this tour. -Children 17 and under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Please bring won for the subway, food and shopping. Beginning Korean Classes This is an ongoing beginning language class. The basic class is aimed at helping non-Koreans learn how to pronounce, read and write the Korean language. Topics covered include the alphabet, numbers, currency, useful Korean words and phrases.

Join us for Acrylic Painting Thursday, 20 April / 1800-2000 Get together with friends, family or co-workers and enjoy a fun filled evening of art, conversation and fun. It’s a great way to learn something new from an enthusiastic, professional artist. We will explore tips, techniques and tools to get the most out of your acrylic painting The fee is $40 and includes all supplies to complete a painting. Fiber Arts Club

Learn how to quilt and sew $5 per visit (2 hour session) which includes use of sewing machines, surgers and sewing tools. The Camp Walker Fiber Club is a great place to exchange ideas, receive guidance or learn from other club members who have an interest in the world of Fiber Arts.
