Enjoy exploring GyeongJu, a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site and the ancient capital of the Silla Kindom (57-935), on a casual bike ride. Some of the sites you can visit on your self-paced tour are the CheomSeongDae Observatory, CheonMaChong Ancient Tomb, Stone Ice Storage and much more. The section of the DMZ is located east of Paju (where the JSA and 3rd tunnel is located). This tour includes Goseokjeong Pavilion, the 2nd tunnel, Cheorwon Peach Observatory, and Woljeongri Station. Departs/Returns: Camp Walker Commissary: 0515/2300 Camp Carroll CAC: 0615/2200 Distance: 5.5 hours one way (depending on traffic) Fee: $55/Adult, $50/Child, $20/4 & Under, $200/Family of 4 (transportation, entrance fees, English speaking guide). -Must provide staff with passport # or DoD ID at registration. -Must bring your passport or DoD ID (whichever you registered with) on tour. -Bring a jacket and comfortable walking shoes. -There are strict dress and behavioral codes, collared shirts for men, and no ripped jeans, revealing clothing or open-toed shoes. -Bring Korean won for meals, snacks, water, etc. Minimum/Maximum: 30/43

GeoJe Island Sea Fishing Tour
Drop a line off a fishing boat while gazing at GeoJe Island and the beautiful blue waters. Some of the fish that you may catch are red sea bream. Whale Cruise
Spend time in the Whale Museum which includes a 3D room, whale submarine room and even a room that is designed like a whale’s stomach. Next move to the Whale Experience Center which features an undersea tunnel, photo zone and more. After all that excitement, board the cruise ship and keep an eye on the water for whales! The basic class is aimed at helping nonKoreans learn how to pronounce, read and write the Korean language. Topics covered include the alphabet, numbers, currency, useful Korean words and phrases. 16 FMWR Outlook
Fiber Arts Club Learn how to quilt and sew! Tuesdays / 1800 Camp Walker Community Activity Center $5 per visit (2-hour session) which includes use of sewing machines, surges and sewing tools. Club participants may bring in their own projects to receive guidance, exchange ideas or work on during club time. Children 15 and under must be accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian.
Thursday, 15 June / 1800 Camp Walker Community Activity Center We explore basic jewelry making, beading, wire bending, basic sawing techniques, pattern stamping and metal piercing (cutting into metal). We will learn tips and tricks on how to change basic objects into “up-scaled� jewelry, how to select beads and how to put it all together. We will also explain how to use all the basic tools and what tools you really need for your jewelry making kit. During this class you will be able to create a bracelet, necklace or earrings. The fee is $40 and includes all supplies to create your project. Also included are light snacks and two beverage tickets for either water, soda or wine.

Subway Adventure Program with the Community Activity Center 17 June / 15 July / 19 August Depart from the Camp Walker Lodge at 0915 Along the way we will share with you how to purchase subway cards and tokens, navigate and ride both subway lines and the monorail, explore Seomun Market and the downtown area including Dongseongno, the busiest street of downtown Daegu. Explore some of Daegu’s famous alleys such as Yasi-golmok Alley, Gyoding Market Food Alley, Gyodong Market Electric Device Alley and Coffee Shop Alley, and learn how to return to Camp Walker on the subway. Please bring won for the subway, food and shopping. The adventure begins after the Camp Carroll bus arrives at Camp Walker Lodge approximately 0915. We will return to Camp Walker by 1530. No pets are allowed on this tour. All children 17 an under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Camp Carroll Community Activity Center Learn How to Play Traditional Korean Games Games are deeply imbedded in both the history and culture of Korea. It is not uncommon to see games like Baduk (“GO” in English and Japanese) played on Korean TV stations. Join us on Monday evenings from 1800-2000, for a fun filled evening of games like “Hwa-tu”, Jangki-a dice game, Yuknori-a board dice game with wooden sticks. Our Korean staff will introduce one game each Monday, explain the rules and how the games are played in both English and Korean.
Open Table Tennis & Table Tennis Tips Whether you are an enthusiastic beginner or an accomplished table tennis player, the Camp Carroll Community Activity Center wants you to come out and play! Join the staff from Camp Carroll CAC every Tuesday evening from 1800-2000 for our Open Table Tennis program. If you are new to the game or want to work on your form, join us on Thursday evening from 1800-2000 for Table Tennis Tips!

Waegwan Cultural Walking Experience 24 June & 29 July Join the staff from Camp Carroll Community Activity Center the Last Saturday of the month, June 24, for our Cultural Walking Experience of Waegwan. Explore the fascinating historical landmarks, the rich environmental history and the interesting cultural history that is Waegwan. Our walking experience will begin in front of the Carroll CAC at 1100. We will walk along the streets outside gate 4, climb the path to the monument on top of Hill 303 and explore the city market where you will be able to purchase local seasonal produce. Then we will go to the train station and learn how to use the train, bus and KTX system. Along our journey we will visit historical landmarks and learn about the points of interest in Waegwan. Our walking journey will end at Camp Carroll at 1500. Please wear comfortable shoes, bring water, money for food, shopping and the bus. Cost for the afternoon is $5. Comicon Trip with Camp Humphreys / 3-6 August CYS is partnering with Camp Humphreys to take youth to Seoul for Korea’s first Comicon!
