Gyeong Ju was the capital of the Silla Dynasty for roughly a thousand years. As a result, the city and immediate surrounding areas possess a great concentration of rich culture and history such as palaces, temples, and artifacts. After Silla unified the entire Korean Peninsula in the year A.D 676, the city developed into one of the world’s major cultural centers. The area is called a “museum without walls” because of the wealth of historical buildings and treasure. Specifically, Bulguksa Temple, Gyeong Ju Folk Art Craft Village, Bomun Lake, and Gyeong Ju National Museum are historical sites that represent Gyeong Ju.

No pets are allowed. Bring your lunch sack, water and extra Korean won. Bring warm jacket and comfortable shoes. Yigidae Park is located in Yongho-dong, Nam-gu, Busan and has an esplanade (walkway) along coastal cliffs. Yigidae in Korean means a “path for people to view the sea and the sky, listening to waves while walking along seaside cliffs. The eastern part of Jangsan Peak (225.3m) meeting the sea has a beautiful view with many fantastic rocks and cliffs. The scenery of the rocks becomes more fantastic at sunrise and moonrise. In addition, the rocky areas are famous for great fishing. While walking down the esplanade, you can see not only the wide sea but also other attractions such as Gwangan Big Bridge and Nurimaru APEC House. The origin of the story, which was the most convincing, is as follows: when the Japanese army conquered Suyeong Fortress and gave a banquet at the beautiful palace, two righteous gisaeng (courtesans) volunteered to participate in the banquet by serving wine. They served a large amount of wine to a Japanese commander. When he became highly intoxicated, they held the commander in their arms and jumped down to the water, killing him and themselves. Thus, Yigidae serves as the memorial site for the two gisaengs who sacrificed their lives for their country.
