DRILL TEAMS

Wildwood Wranglers

The Wildwood Wranglers Drill Team consists of students and horses performing choreographed maneuvers to music. To be eligible for the team, students must be in our Leaders in Training or Young Leaders program and have graduated from our Horsemanship Team. This team is unique in that our students practice once a week on horses that are not their own (these horses are for all activities at The Ranch, not just performances). During the practices, we utilize the principles of equestrian therapy while engaging with students. The benefits of equine therapy consist of increased self-esteem, confidence, and leadership while learning teamwork and the importance of a strong work ethic. They're learning difficult maneuvers and learning to navigate difficulties in life and ultimately succeed in the next steps of their life. You can experience their hard work and dedication at rodeos, horse fairs, and county fairs in Iowa, and our annual Faith & Family Celebration at Wildwood Hills Ranch. See the Wildwood Wranglers in the Pavilion on Friday at 5:15, Saturday at 2:00 and Sunday at 2:30.

Wildwood Wranglers Veteran

Wildwood Hills Ranch of Iowa offers a unique program for veterans from all branches, all ranks, and various years of service. All service men and women are welcome to participate in our equine therapy program. The program begins with veterans learning to ride a horse, care for it and groom it. Once that’s accomplished, they learn a variety of drills and routines followed by a variety of opportunities to perform at parades, horse shows and county fairs. The level of involvement depends on the individual’s comfort level and goals. Members of the program are not required to participate in the Veteran Drill Team to be a part of the equine therapy program. Many veterans are surprised by the progress they make in their recovery process and are thankful for this highly impactful opportunity. Several veterans have called this program life changing. See the Wildwood Wranglers Veteran Flag Presentation in the Jacobson Arena on Friday at 8:00am and 12:00pm, on Saturday at 8:00am and Sunday at 8:00am.
