From Your President Michigan Junior Holstein

As we move into the springtime, the Michigan Junior Holstein members are excited as ever for spring show season and all the fun events and opportunities we have planned!

The junior board of directors just completed our sixth annual Holiday Cheese Sale and had another successful fundraiser, selling just under 350 total boxes. We added some new improvements and options to our sale and it went very well. We would like to give a special thank you to everyone who purchased from our sale and for their continued support of the Michigan Holstein juniors.

We recently held our spring basket silent auction at the Holstein and Jersey annual meetings. Thank you to everyone that bid on items, we appreciate all of the contributions! We also had a group of junior board members attend and enjoyed listening to the speaker and taking in everything from the MJCC and MHA meet- ings. Additionally, we look forward to seeing juniors in the show ring at the spring show again! MJHA will also be hosting a spring showmanship practice before the spring show for any juniors to fine tune their showmanship skills

It is also that time of year to start thinking about the National Holstein Convention. The convention will be hosted in Lexington, KY from June 23-27 this year. If a junior would like to attend and participate in a contest, MJHA helps in covering the cost of the trip. If you are interested in attending and competing in a contest, please contact a MJHA board member or myself at adalee.thelen@gmail. com. The deadlines for these contests are April 1 and May 1.
