From the Jersey Desk Michigan Jersey Cattle Club

We recently met in Mt Pleasant for our annual meeting. This year we partnered with Michigan Holstein Association and offer a stand alone annual meeting featuring an online sale with social hour, a guest speaker, and an integrated annual meeting. We appreciate MHA work and forethought in planning this successful event.

The sale featured 12 jersey cattle offered up by our members. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the jerseys will come back to MJCC to help us support future opportunities for our members.

We welcomed Ethan Haywood to the board. Ethan is a bright young breeder who has a keen eye for good Jersey cattle and has helped his farm focus on breeding for high genomic animals. He’s hoping to make an appearance with some cattle at upcoming shows to try his hand at showing. Welcome Ethan!

Vice President as Allison Schafer stepped down to focus on her farm. Thank you, Allison, for your service to the board.

Last summer our secretary/treasurer resigned. At the beginning of the year, the MJCC board decided in order to maintain our strong working relationship with MHA we would utilize the same secretary/treasurer they had hired. Please welcome Carrie Delong as our acting secretary/treasurer.

We are looking forward to winter ending and whirlwind of shows and sales beginning.
