The Pink Teapot
The Brief
A small cafe in Otley just started to sponsor a cricket club, and needs a banner designing for the cricket pitch, as a JGEP 8ft by 2ft. This is a very quick turn over brief, that requires to be done in a matter of hours.
Background
The Pink Teapot is a client that I have produced branding and printed ephemera produced for before. After sponsoring a cricket team, the client got back to me and asked for a banner designing. This is an American 1940s type cafÊ, that loves polkadots, and putting smiles on people’s faces.

Development
The Pink Teapot
The tone of voice for The Pink Teapot is quite cheeky, they have a lot of banter with their, customers and people don’t just go for the food they go for the experience. ‘For you with love...’ is a quote used on their business cards and menus, it is something that needs to be included in the banner. Also the polka dots needed to be included too. The characters of the three women who work there are appropriate for this as the reason why people go is to see these three a lot of the time, and for the food of course.

The Banner.
The banner has not yet been put up, although will be going up soon. Everything on the banner is important, there is not need to put the address of The Pink Teapot or any more of their information, as the cricket pitch is near the cafe so people will be able to find it. Keeping the cheeky tone of voice and the playfulness in the banner is important, as this is what the Pink Teapot is all about.
The design decisions going into the making of the banner were all taken from previous work produced for The Pink Teapot. Using a similar aesthetic to the business card and the menus and other printed ephemera in the cafe. Therefore everything needs to be in keeping with this.
