The Brief
Intern magazine came in for a day brief. Create and invent our own independent magazine. Get into groups of 5-6 people and think about creating a crowd funding concept for the magazine. Distribute jobs evenly, present to the rest of the groups and receive feedback.
Concept
Stay Magazine is a collaborative concept for a magazine that tries to get young professionals to ‘Stay near, travel often.’. It is a magazine that shows the benefits of vacationing in the UK. Using all British aspects of the production of the magazine from the printers, to the font used called Perpetua. Each issue is a different season, highlighting the different places to visit for different seasons, Issue 1 being Winter, and Issue 3 being Summer.

Researching into current magazines and trying to find a gap in the market for us to accentuate on. Whilst doing this it showed that the more aesthetically pleasing magazines and more successful magazines are those which are simple with a full bleed image and minimal text. This is something that we will include in our magazine covers. Through research and hobbies of people in my collaborative team of me, Melissa H, Melissa G, Sam, Sarah, Caitlin and Amy, we found that there is space for a magazine about travelling, but more specific to the amazing destinations/places in the UK.

STAY
Stay will have an issue released every season, this will highlight the best places to visit for each season. For example in the autumn the winter edition will come out so that people will be able to go through the magazine and decide where they want to go on holiday. The cover photo and the images in the magazine are going to trick the consumer into thinking they are looking at a place abroad, whereas it is actually in the UK. Above are two examples, one of the summer and the other of the winter issue.

Audience
The target audience for this magazine is people with a higher disposable income, this includes couples or single people, but predominantly couples. Busier couples with a higher disposable income that can’t afford to take a week off work to go on holiday, but do like to go on vacations. This is the solution for them as each season there is a new issue showing amazing places in the UK that they can visit for long weekends, this means they are not wasting time on travel.
