The Brief
Something More is a new design studio that has just opened in Duke Studios. For the brief, we had to choose a subject out of a hat that were everyday businesses that we all use but don’t have a lot of choice in. Then we had to brand it, and make it stand out amongst the rest of our peers that have the same subject.

All water companies have a colour scheme of blue. They blend in with one another. This is something to avoid, blending in with the other water companies. Also a lot of the water companies found include a water droplet in their logo or as their icon. Try to find a way to show water without using a water droplet, this is something that would stand out amongst, along with not using the standard blue.

Concept and Development
Something More
The concept for Clear Water is to create a better relationship between the consumer and the water supplier. This is so that the customers can understand exactly where their money is going, what they are using it on and how much they are spending. Choosing an alternative colour scheme, rather than blue will make the bills stand out more. Making the information more appealing will also encourage people to actually read it.

The idea of using bubbles in the type creates the idea that there is liquid inside the type like water. Most water companies end their name in ‘Water’ therefore changing lots of other things this should stay the same. As well as this, calling the brand ‘Clear Water’ is in keeping with the concept and the brand message, trying to be clear with the customers about where their money and water is going and coming from.

Clear Water.
A water supplier that isn’t hiding anything, keeping it all clear for the customers to see. Including where their money and water is going, and showing how they can save water too. Clear Water will keep in touch with customers each month, so there will be a better relationship with the customers and the company. You can’t chose your water supplier but you can chose how you use your water.
Colour Choices
Water companies are often blue and white, this is a typical colour use to represent water. Also a lot of people don’t know a lot about their water supplier or are aware about what they are paying for. Therefore using this colour scheme will attract their attention, it will stand out amongst other water suppliers, and the colour work well together. Yellow is a warning colour, therefore grabs the attention of the audience.

The bills are simple and to the point, showing what the customers money is going on exactly. Page one consists of the monetary value os the bill, including a perforated payment slip on the bottom and a free post envelope to send back. Page two consists of how the customer has used water in their residence. Comparing usage of the customer to the usage of their neighbours, and showing how much they are saving each month.

Something More
Clear Water stands out form the rest of the water suppliers. It is using different colour schemes and staying away from the blues, this is so that it comes across as more interesting, and important, using yellow, grey and black. Clear Water is available for the North of England, whilst the head office is based in Leeds, this would be competing with Yorkshire Water, although it is more appealing to customers.

How you can save water.
Brief 4
Using the same colour scheme as the brand there will be a small leaflet in the back of the bill to show customers how they can save water and knock money from their bill. This is something that will change every month, giving more options on how to save water. Later mentioning how saving water can help others and what the customer is contributing to the world by standing by Clear Water.
