Concept and Development
Tiger Print
The concept for these printed patterns are to be quite nostalgic, using characters and Christmas scenes in the patterns. Trying to avoid the materialistic side of Christmas, and stripping it back to the natural side. The natural side the Christmas often is more appealing to people than receiving extravagant presents, which often makes people happier, which will be perfect for gift wrap.

A lot of people hope for a white Christmas, therefore creating snowmen will give the idea of a Christmas scene whilst including a character. When making the pattern it is important to think about the colour scheme and making sure that Christmas colours are used such as Red, Green and white. Dark and light blue for the sky and outdoors could be used too.

Snowman
Tiger Print
Snowman is a simple yet effective repeat pattern. Using a single character and the white and blue colour scheme gives the effect of a natural outdoor scene at Christmas. It is pleasing to the eye, not too busy or cluttered and will work well for M&S. There is a large range of wrapping papers available already but none with a snowman, therefore this would fill a gap in the wrapping paper market.

Christmas Trees
Tiger Print
The Christmas tree scene gives the image of a natural outdoor Christmas, this is something that M&S need in their wrapping paper range. It is more of a subtle wrapping paper, using minimal colours and detail which will appeal to an older audience rather than being colourful and childlike. The colours used in this wrapping allow greens for Christmas to come through but mainly using greys and whites, this is to keep a more natural aesthetic.

This printed pattern is purely for decorative effect. Taking advantage of the character use in the gift wrap as this is something that Tiger Print are looking for, character wrapping. The colours used work well together, with the blue representing outdoors and the reds for Christmas without being too clichĂŠ and standard. Although throughout there is use of greens and reds to keep the Christmas theme.
