What is Awakening Shakti ? Oooh this is a whole story in itself. And if you’d like more of the back-story and all the additional juicy details your very welcome to join the fb page, or IG where you’ll start to find more blogs and unfurling stories about our journeys ( & offerings ). (links below). In short though, Awakening Shakti ~ denotes to us living in true wellbeing, connected to and living in our bodies, where-in lies a little known wellspring of our life-force vitality. We tap into it occasionally through things like yoga, though it’s not often talked about directly; and through spending those quiet moments in nature - where we feel rejuvenated and alive, inspired & expansive afterwards. We usually then slip back to our minds, and all their usual worries, plans, anxieties, agonising dramas etc & forget those rare moments of peace, ease, relaxation & feel-good bliss. The things most of us are actually really looking for in life. And, this is kind of the ‘norm’, no? We live in a world that is very headcentred. When we are in our bodies i.e exercising, it is usually just to push our bodies into doing things and behaving in ways we *think they should. Rarely do we tune in and really listen to what our bodies are feeling and telling us. And yet this is the hidden secret to soo much of our health, healing, well-being & true thriving - on every level.
Mind-body link Science is now slowing catching up a little with the mind-body link, (= figuring out that our heads are not just floating around as separate entities, and there’s a body attached ;).) Our bodies are actually incredibly wise. There is a saying that ~ our minds can weave a thousand stories, and yet our bodies will always tell us the truth. Being too much in our minds can mean we miss the stress signals our bodies are giving us, & an accumulation of stress in our n/s is what leads to an impacted immune system and so much of our dis- ease.
Coming Home to Our Bodies Awakening Shakti ~ is a Centre of Wellbeing that encourages embodied living. It is an amalgamation of 21 years + of seeking & studies, around the world.
We offer: • Healing Bodywork Beautiful massages, & some rare, unique healing treatments such as: Chi-Nei-Tsang (a Taoist Detox Alchemy Massage) ~ to honour, and offer ourselves self-care/ nourishment time (our bodies do a lot of healing and re-integrating when we are deeply relaxed). • Classes and 1-1’s Learn Kundalini and Tantric Hatha Yoga; Taoist InnerAlchemy meditations & practices to powerfully cultivate, and harness that source energy within you; Learn to listen to the subtle nuances of your body and tap into its wisdom whenever you desire. These are practices to change your life. • Embodied Transformational Coaching Deeper dive wellbeing packages. A lot of what holds us back in our life, relationships, love-lives etc are deeply held subconscious beliefs, fears, traumas, patterns ~ through working in a held, supportive container, and learning to really listen to our bodies stories, we can access deep healing, transformation and liberation from things that may have held us back our whole lives - from our true potentials.
Benefits to being in our bodies: Reclaiming your confidence & personal power: When you're attuned to the sensations of your body, it leads you back to your Truth and who you really are. When you know who you are and what you want, you stop giving your power away & re-align your life. Feel the sensuality of life: When you're in your body you feel, taste, smell, hear, experience life with more sensitivity = tons more pleasure & connection to life & those you love. Emotional integration and agility: E-motions are part of our bodies energy. A lot of us repress the difficult emotions because we don’t know what to do with them. When we do this their energy gets stored or trapped in our bodies. When we can feel them, not only can we release them better, we can also tap into way more joy. When we can calm & care for our bodies, slow our breath, drop into the present moment - we can access and drink from an inner source. It can lead us back to ourselves & to creating happier lives cultivated by our true desires.

Saint Betti – A new restaurant in Wirksworth A brand new restaurant has recently opened in Wirksworth's market place serving delicious homecooked food and a selection of drinks. Saint Betti caters for everyone whether it's simply popping in for a drink or enjoying breakfast, brunch, lunch or an evening meal. It is set against a backdrop of quirky styled décor that is an infusion of contemporary, industrial and graffiti inspired designs, yet blended with a classic touch. Saint Betti prides itself on serving wholesome food, freshly made to order by its in-house chef, and delivered with excellent service. All food and drink sold at Saint Betti is either locally produced or sourced from local suppliers. This includes everything from meat from Wirksworth to roastery coffee from Buxton. Saint Betti also sells a range of world wines, a selection of Peak Ales, and gins from White Peak Distillery just a few miles away in Ambergate. Lee Richards, who set up Saint Betti, says, “Running a local business myself I know how important it is to support the local High Street as well as local producers and suppliers, which is why I'm ensuring I source all products locally.” Lee previously ran the popular “Coffee Bunker” in Wirksworth, a café offering light lunches and snacks throughout the day. However, when the larger premises in the market place became available he decided to move there instead. Increased space and seating means he can now offer an extensive menu with hot cooked food dishes that include steak pies, lasagne and chilli as well as vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options.
Contributing to the local community and promoting Wirksworth as a visitor destination plays an important part in Lee's business. This is no more evident than in the name he's given to the restaurant. Saint Betti is named after the seventh century Saxon monk who travelled to Wirksworth from Northumbria where it is said he founded a church on the site where St Mary's Parish Church now stands and became its first priest. In addition to its ground floor restaurant, Saint Betti also comes complete with an outside terrace that catches the sun, perfect for enjoying a drink whilst watching the hustle and bustle of the town. There is additional seating upstairs, which also serves as a function room that is available to hire. Whatever the occasion, Saint Betti is the perfect place to catch up with friends, celebrate a special day or just watch the world go by, whilst supporting all things local. Saint Betti is open daily from 9am-4pm (closed Wednesdays) with evening bookings from 5pm10pm on Fridays and Saturdays. For further details, or to book a table phone 01629 820900, email hello@saintbetti.co.uk or visit: www.saintbetti.co.uk

ARE YOU A WORRIER? There’s a lot of talk nowadays about anxiety. I deal with more anxiety issues than any other complaint, usually when that anxiety has begun to cause ‘dis-order’ in that person’s life; stopping them doing what is good for them or driving them towards behaviours that are not. The fallout and symptoms from that anxiety can be assessed for severity and frequency and that determines whether someone is deemed to suffer from Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD) or not. Lower level anxiety (unwelcome, uncomfortable though it is) is much better labelled as good old fashioned worry. The word worry comes from the old english word meaning to strangle, which is a good indication of just how uncomfortable it can be! The difference between FEAR and WORRY, is that fear is a response to immediate danger; a falling tree, or a physical threat, it is a temporary state to enable is to keep safe, whilst worry is a response to an anticipated or imagined threat. It is always imaginary as it has not actually happened and you have to visualise it. The physical bio-chemical signs of fear and worry are the same - raised cortisol and adrenaline, pumping heart, digestion stops, a pale face as blood rushes to the limbs to enable flight. These are intended to be short term measures to help us get out of danger and yet worry can leave us in a permanent loop of these physical signs coming round and round again. The more we experience worry thoughts unhindered or uninterrupted we create neurological motorways for more of the same behaviour: we create a HABIT of worry thoughts that starts to become as automatic as driving your car home.
security (jobs and homes) that you imagine you could not cope with. You could try this Self Guided Meditation to face misplaced fear: Bring to mind situation of subject that is a regular source of worry for you. Step into it and start to play your usual pattern of thoughts about this future problem Notice the detail of the worry thoughts - how is the self doubt showing itself? Are you planning or rehearsing or trying to figure something out? Are you judging, do you hear an accusatory voice or see images? Notice how this is showing itself in your body. Bring your attention below your chin to your body below: where are these feelings positioned? Do you have a sense of movement or temperature, or a sense of colour? Focus on breathing through this feeling, moving your attention from the worry signs to breathing. Offer yourself some comfort, what do you need to tell yourself? Maybe it’s as as simple as ‘it’s Ok”. You may like to place your hand on your heart to add to this sense of reassurance. ‘Real, but not true’ - use this phrase to interrupt the pattern of your automatic worry thoughts. Fabulous Family Run Firm
The success of Matlock based specialist plumbing and heating engineers N Jenkins and Sons Ltd can be attributed to them being genuinely customer focused. A family business established in 2016 in response to many years’ experience seeing the gas engineering trade lose sight of what is important: safety, reliability and professionalism. N. Jenkins and Sons are a close knit family run business that is managed by Neil and Rachel Jenkins, they are fortunate to be working alongside three of their sons, Leigh, Kieran and Bradley, whilst waiting in the wings are two more offspring, who’ll have to wait a few more years before they’ll be old enough to join their siblings. “What makes us different” said Neil. “ Is that we are truly customer focused, we ensure that our customers are really satisfied with our service, so they really want to remain with us for the long term”. N. Jenkins and Sons currently have a team of eight engineers, which makes them big enough to cope and small enough to care. They aim for a job well done every time, and pride themselves on arriving when they say they will, carry out the work promised and charge you the price that was agreed. Their engineers are friendly, polite and professional, such as recently qualified, former apprentice, Travis who epitomises the
spirit and attitude that’s prevalent in this family firm. From a dripping tap to a full domestic or commercial central heating installation N. Jenkins and Sons are happy to take your job on. All their engineers are Gas Safe registered and adhere to the Department of Health's guidance on working safely during the Covid 19 pandemic. What makes this firm really special is that they keep you in the loop every step of the way. For example, if the engineer is going to be late, then you can expect a text message to let you know. You can also expect that your quote from the initial consultation to the finished job is fully transparent, with no nasty shocks, reflecting their integrity and professionalism. For complete peace of mind, there are a number of boiler care and central heating system maintenance plans available to customers. These start at £9.99 per month upwards.
