You may have heard about… The government’s National Tutoring Programme (NTP) which is a £1 billion coronavirus catch up package for children whose education has been most affected by the long school closures.
Many parents with eligible children have not! The package is designed to allow Tuition Partners to work with small groups of children or on a one to one basis to boost their progress significantly. This is based on high quality evidence from randomised controlled trials by the Education Endowment Foundation and is designed to supplement the quality classroom teaching as a powerful tool for schools after such an unprecedented difficult time. It has been proven that the more disadvantaged children will require additional tutoring and support to shore up their lack of progress during the closures. The Government has established the NTP to be accessed by schools for their pupils as the best way to make sure tutoring is effective and linked to what pupils are learning in school.
So where does Jo at Kip fit in? Jo was approached by a large local academy which manages many schools and who wanted to take advantage of the NTP scheme. Kip meets all the criteria for being a Tutoring Partner because it employs only qualified teachers, can assess and measure the academic level of a student at the beginning and end of the tutoring programme and demonstrate in detailed terms the actual measurable progress that has been made. It is acknowledged as a safe guarding organisation and
mirrors the school curriculums. The academy asked Jo to provide tuition for around 100 students from its schools during the summer and looks set to continue the extra support provision going forward. The tutoring is funded by the NTP government scheme making it available for parents who would not normally be in a position to access private tuition for their child. Each child has a customised personal programme to address their specific educational needs and is part computer based and part tutor led. Kip offers places in small groups thus ensuring each child has maximum tutor interaction without being overlooked throughout the session. It can accommodate family or small group ‘bubbles’ in compliance with the Covid 19 regulations. Access to the scheme is only through your child’s school if they are participating in the NTP scheme. The school is in the best position to know you, your child and their education levels to make these decisions and if you want to know more you can ask them yourself or look on the website for more information www.nationaltutoring.org.uk/faqs

COMPUTER TIP Record Your Accounts A recent failure in Windows 10 meant the system had to be rebuilt from scratch which meant reinstating various software items, some of which had been purchased. Because these were originally installed a long time ago, the email addresses used to register them was no longer valid and the passwords long forgotten. If you need to restore things like Norton, McAfee or Malwarebytes or even if you just need to log in to check or alter your payments then you MUST have a record of how they were set up.
