Why Is The Sky Blue? By: Derica Blue light is scattered in all directions by the tiny molecules of air in Earth's atmosphere. Blue is scattered more than other colors because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This is why we see a blue sky most of the time. ... Also, the surface of Earth has reflected and scattered the light.

Why do we yawn?

One is that when we are bored or tired, we just don't breathe as deeply as we usually do. As this theory goes, our bodies take in less oxygen because our breathing has slowed. Therefore, yawning helps us bring more oxygen into the blood and move more carbon dioxide out of the blood.

What Causes a Rainbow? A rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction, and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicoloured circular arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.

Seasons on hunting By: Sheldon Medford :) There are seasons of hunting, but this time of year there are not as many as other times. This time of year there are a few of them. Here they are: rabbit, grouse, squirrel, chucker, partridge and qail. Chucker and partridge open on October 1st and rabbit, grouse, squirrel, and quail open on September 31st. Coyotes, ground squirrels, raccoons and possums are all year around and you can hunt them all year.

Quick tip ● When hunting birds you want to be loud to scare them. ● When raccoon hunting you need to get a trappers licence or hound dog hunt and you don’t need to be quiet. ● When you coyote hunt you do need to be quiet. ● Possums are hard to find so you may need to set out a trap or you will not kill one.

Parkinson’s Plus Disease By: Sadie Purington What is Parkinson’s Plus? Parkinson’s plus is a disorder that is in the central nervous system that causes difficulties in movement and often tremors. However, it is not a fatal disease, meaning those diagnosed with it will not die from the disease itself, but the alignments and symptoms caused by it. The main 4 symptoms of Parkinson’s are tremors, rigidity, postural instability (troubles with balance), and bradykinesia (gradual loss of quick movement). The symptoms are hard to diagnose because the symptoms closely mimic other conditions. The 4 most common types of Parkinson’s Plus syndromes are; Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, Multiple System Atrophy, Cortical-Basal Ganglionic Degeneration, and Dementia with Lewy Bodies.

Definition Tremors- involuntary quivering movement, meaning making someone quiver or shake without choice

Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) PSP is a rare disorder that causes problems with stability and balance. A symptom that most separate PSP from Parkinson’s disease and other conditions is problems with eye movement that occurs in addition to body movement problems. More common symptoms are difficulties with speech and swallowing that become worse in PSP than in Parkinson’s. PSP developers more quickly than Parkinson’s and usually leads to disability within 5-10 years.

Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) Cortical-Basal Ganglionic MSA is a series of 3 related disorders that Degeneration (CBGD) slowly but progressively affect the nervous system. The first disorder is Olivopontocerebellar, which causes problems with balance, coordination, and speech. The second disorder is; Striatonigral Degeneration, which is more similar to Parkinson’s, causes slow body movement and stiff muscles. The last disorder is Shy-Drager disease, this interferes with automatic body functions that are controlled by the nervous system, such as breathing, heart rate, digestion, and blood pressure.

How was Parkinson’s made? In the 1800s, a London doctor named James Parkinson began writing about a disease he found in many of his patients and others in his neighborhood. Each displayed involuntary trembling in hand or arm, some stooped forward, talking short, and quick steps when walking. He called it “Shaking Palsy”. He published a paper about it in 1817. James was one of the first to study it while 60 years later, Jean Martin Charot, a French neurologist continued his work, and in honor of his research, renamed it “Parkinson’s disease”

CBGD is a neurological disorder that over time causes many areas of the brain to shrink. CBGD has similar symptoms to Parkinson’s disease, such as stiff, rigid movements, tremors, problems with balance and coordination, difficulty speaking and concentrating and progressive problems with moving, thinking and remembering.

Dementia with Lewy Bodies (DLB) DLB is a brain disease that causes progressive changes with movement or thinking. In DLB abnormal structures called “Lewy Bodies” form in different parts of the brain. Some symptoms of DLB, such as confusion and memory loss, may mimic those of Alzheimer’s disease. These symptoms may occur in DLB because the structures in the brain affected by DLB are similar to those affected by Parkinson’s or Alzheimer’s diseases.

Endangered Animals: Amur leopards

https://www.worldwil dlife.org/species/am ur-leopard https://onekindplanet .org/animal/leopardamur/

“Amur leopards have thick white or cream fur with large, widely spaced black spots called “rosettes” covering the head, back, tail, and legs. Amur leopards have long bushy tails of 32–35 in. The long length comes in handy during cold winters, as they can wrap them around themselves for warmth. Amur leopards, also known as Far East leopards, Manchurian leopards or Korean leopards, are found in the Russian Far East. Their range is small and confined to forests of a temperate region crossed by the Amur River, a natural boundary between China and Russia. They are the only leopard subspecies adapted to survive in both extreme snowy winter and hot summer climates. Amur leopards are nocturnal, so sleep during the day in cool caves or sheltered spots. Amur leopards are carnivores. They are opportunistic so are not fussy eaters, but prey consists mainly of roe and sika deer, hares, wild pigs and badgers. Although, when feeling brave, they have been known to eat young black bears. Food can be scarce, so if they have food left over, they may drag and hide the remains from other predators that

By: Sara combs might fancy a nibble. With less than 70 left in the wild, Amur leopards are on the brink of extinction. The main threats are poaching for their fur, hunting of prey species, and habitat loss due to farming development, growth of cities and human induced forest fires. The small size of the population means inbreeding is also becoming a problem. Genetic diversity is low and as such individuals are at risk from abnormalities that can impact health, reproduction, and survival. There is still hope that Amur leopards can be saved from extinction. For example, effective conservation measures in a Russian National Park have resulted in the Amur leopard population almost doubling from 30 in 2007 to 57 in 2015.There is still hope for the amur leopard.”
