Balthazar and Marchal promise immersive Christmas experiences, presenting menus bursting with the freshest seasonal flavours. Our talented culinary team has reinterpreted classic Danish Christmas dishes with a modern flair. You can also indulge in the Snow Queen’s White Gløgg, an inviting beverage served on our charming heated terrace and in the elegant ambiance of Marchal’s Wine Room.
This year, we’re delighted to have our own stall at the traditional Christmas market on Kongens Nytorv, the square right in front of the hotel. Here we offer a selection of exclusive Christmas decorations – perfect as a cherished keepsake of your stay or as a thoughtful gift for your holiday season hosts.

THE SNOW QUEEN’S WHITE GLØGG
If there’s one thing that embodies the spirit of Christmas at d’Angleterre, it’s our signature Snow Queen’s White Gløgg – a mulled white wine. Introduced in November 1999 alongside the hotel’s first-ever Christmas façade décor, this festive beverage has become a beloved tradition. On this occasion, our grand street terrace transformed into a shimmering winter wonderland, where fairytale writer Hans Christian Andersen’s iconic Snow Queen journeyed in her sleigh, drawn by majestic white unicorns.
This captivating display enchanted the entire city and garnered renown far beyond Copenhagen. Inspired by this magical scene, our head chef crafted the Snow Queen’s White Gløgg, an immediate sensation that has since become a cherished Christmas tradition for our hotel guests and locals alike.
Indulge in the Snow Queen’s White Gløgg either on our charming heated terrace or within the refined ambiance of Marchal’s Wine Room & Bar. You can also purchase bottles to enjoy at home or as a thoughtful treat for your holiday gatherings.

CHRISTMAS AT BALTHAZAR
This December, you can indulge in our captivating Champagne & Gløgg Cocktail, a festive masterpiece crafted with delicate champagne, d’Angleterre’s Gløgg, and an elegant topping of house-made gingerbread nut foam. The result is a sweet and spiced cocktail, brimming with the most delightful aromas and flavours of Christmas. Another beloved holiday favourite is our Snowball Cocktail, a visual delight reminiscent of its namesake. It evokes the warmth of a classic eggnog while offering a refreshing twist with a spiced foundation.
This year, we’re also excited to introduce a brand-new winter cocktail, a secret our bartenders will reveal as the holiday season approaches.
Every Saturday from 14:00 to 17:00, we continue our cherished tradition of serving traditional Danish Christmas gløgg with ”æbleskiver”.

Each day throughout December, we’ll unveil a new surprise behind one of the 24 doors on our advent calendar, and one lucky winner will be chosen.

Our signature Snow Queen’s White Gløgg is available by the bottle or to savour in-store. Outside, our charming pink trolley awaits, offering a spot to enjoy a warm glass while soaking in the city’s festive buzz.
As 2024 comes to a close, we transition from Christmas cheer to New Year’s elegance. Taking centre stage are the city’s most magnificent New Year’s cake and our flower-shaped ”kransekage”, available in a variety of delightful flavours. And for a truly stylish toast to the New Year, we recommend d’Angleterre’s own exquisite champagne. From 19 December to 2 January, we offer a dedicated playroom for children, filled with books, toys, and games. It’s a space where young imaginations can soar and joyful memories are made. On Christmas Eve, 24 of December, the magic of the season reaches its height with a special visit from Santa Claus, bringing gifts for all the eager children. And before bedtime, a special surprise awaits, ensuring sweet dreams of Christmas fill their sleep.
