Festivals The most popular Indian festivals are Navratri, Diwali, Ganesh
Chaturthi, Durga puja, Hili, Ugadi, Rakshabandhan, and Dussehra. Are also popular harvest festivals like Snkranthi, Pongal, Raja sankaranti swinging festival and Onam, Nuakhai.
Some festivals are celebrated by different religions. Some important examples are Diwali celebrated by the Hindus, sijes, jainist and Buddh Purnima. There’s a festival called Dree that add colors in the culture and is celebrated by the Apatis in the west extreme of India.
Gastronomy One of the indian gastronomy is the dishes of rice, pulses and vegetable stewed, with sauces made with different curries and vegetables oils. Also are typical fried snacks and breads without yeast (chapatti). Sweets can be also scented with different spices, and the most important drinks are tea, coconut milk and yogurt, for example. Naan Bread is a flat bread, made of wheat flour and generally without yeast. Naan bread it’s different from chapati bread because its shape (the last one is round) and chapati is
generally cooked on a plate called tava.
Indian fashion Traditionally, the typical style of the Indian culture are:
-Dresses:
Sari: a long linen made of silk. Indians roll up the sari around the body. (For women)
Dhoti: a rectangular piece of cotton. It could be white or cream. Indians roll up around the waist and they join the dhoti passing between their legs. (For men)
Lungi: it’s very similar to dhoti, but Indians sew it like a skirt.
-Trousers:
Salwar (for women) and Kurtas (for men): they are trousers, similar to a pyjama. Legs are usually loose at the superior part and narrow at the ankles.

Bindi: it’s a point located at the forehead. The red bindi was used only for Hindu married women, and the colourful bindi was used for single women. But actually all the bindis are
incorporated into the Indian fashion. ď ľ
Sindoor: is a traditional red or orange-red colored cosmetic powder, usually worn by married women along the parting of
their hair.
RELIGION AND MYTHS THE MOST COMMON RELIGION: The most common religion in India is the Hindu religion. Close to 800 million Indians (80.5%) are Hindus. Other religious groups are Islam (13.4%), Christianity (2.3%), Sikhism (1.9%), Buddhism (0.8%), Jainism, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, bahaisme the other.
