This book is the result of a series of experiments that were put together for the Graphic Futures module at the Cambridge School of Arts. For this project I decided to investigate some of the possibilities of doing calligraphy at a larger scale.
My main goal was to write bigger than what I usually do, going beyond A4 and standard sizes, while practising and perfecting my arm movement as I wrote vertically on the wall. At the same time I wished to better understand the proportions of each letter and how they behave in bigger sizes.
The large letters were produced in a really small room, so it is almost as if they needed to leave the room and be placed in an open space environment. The idea of holding the letters over my own body gave the notion of how big each sheet of paper was. Each letter had a different background and the richness and textures of each one of those backgrounds enhanced the quality of each letter, giving life to the whole alphabet.
