Nu Omega Reclaims Twelve Brothers On Saturday, September 17, 2005 at the Nu Omega chapter Fraternity house (235 E. Ferry St.), Nu Omega Chapter had its annual Reclamation. This year was a break from the stuffy suits, formal program, and sit down lunch of passed years. Reclamation chairman Bro. David Craig thought it better if Reclamation was made to be a little more casual and inviting to Brothers who have been inactive, so he decided to make this year’s event a cookout at the House. This turned out to be an excellent idea because the house was flooded with Brothers financial and un-financial, active and inactive. Approximately 12 Brothers decided that it was their time to return to the fold and become financial once again. Another 10 discussed making payment arrangements so that they could once again become active members in the chapter. Bro. Craig should be congratulated for his continuous efforts and passion for bringing Brothers back to the Fraternity.

Rho Gamma Gamma Supports UNCF Walk Rho Gamma Gamma Chapter (Chicago), Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., participates every year with the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) “Walk-Run-Bike Skate-a-thon”. The chapter encourages brothers to register for the events as well as volunteers to help with the participants (passing out Gatorade & Granola Bars). The other Chicago chapters participate as well. This year Iota Chapter got the tent where all Ques were welcome to fellowship or assist others. Brother Art Norman (NBC5 Chicago New Anchor) was outstanding as usual with his words of encouragement and enthusiasm. The Chicago Ques raised around $300.

Tau Kappa Kappa/ Nu Omega Brings the Cruise Back to Detroit in Grand Fashion The Brothers of Tau Kappa Kappa Chapter Southfield, MI, and Nu Omega Detroit, MI worked together to pull off the largest cruise in Fraternity history. There were over 1,500 people in attendance and a great time was had by all. With four different levels of entertainment, free h’orsdevoures all night, and the Ques on board this event was the hit of the summer in Detroit. This event was a success due to the hard work of several brothers in both Chapters. Planning and executing this type of event requires commitment, and team work, and the committee members from both chapters did an excellent job. Both chapters felt really good to have the Cruise with the Ques back on such a large scale. One boat ride patron describes this boat ride as “just like the ones from the 80’s and early 90’s but better.” This was the general feeling from everyone on the boat and we plan to keep that trend going with all of our future events.

Que-mmunicator Rho Gamma Gamma Chapter to Assist the Hurricane Katrina Victims Rho Gamma Gamma Chapter (Chicago) was host of a Dance, Friday, August 31, 2005. Now, this dance was part of the Chicago Football Classic Weekend. Prior to the Grand Basileus’ directives, Brother Marvin McNeil (Rho Gamma Gamma Chapter) put together a plan to donate a portion of the proceeds to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Brother McNeil stopped the music while explaining that the men of Omega Psi Phi need to step up and help “OUR” people. “We shouldn’t have to wait on anybody”, he exclaimed. He also wanted to get 4 coach buses, fill them with food, clothing, &

water, send the items down to New Orleans, and bring back 4 bus loads of New Orleans Hurricane victims. The dance started off a weekend of fun, and it got quite a few people, brothers included, thinking about the situation of the people in the South. Tenth District 1st Vice District Representative Glen Mathews, also spoke and planned to get all the state’s representatives to contact all of the chapters to get an effort rolling to assist the people in need. This was a great day.

Saturday, September 1, 2005 Brother Jesse Jackson, Sr. was host of a rally during his Saturday morning broadcast. Many may not have known that the Chicago Football Classic will be played this day and the rally was to bring together the Chicagoans and the out-oftowners for a support effort. In the audience were both opposing bands: University of Arkansas – Pine Bluff (UAPB) Golden Lions and Mississippi Valley State University (MVSU), who gave the audience a sample of their melodic sounds.

A registered nurse was also available to provide additional information as needed. Dr. Calderone of Sore podiatry Associates, P.C., gave free foot exams to the elderly and offered to do anyStory future presentations and/or screenings for the Fraternity "pro bono". Many Inside Headline health conscious refreshments were offered to participants such as water, oranges, bananas, and plums. Mu Xi Second Annual Health Fair Chicago, IL– The Brothers from Mu Xi Chapter held its Second Annual Health Fair on September 18th 2005. This year’s theme was “Test Don’t Guess”. The health fair focused on the early detection of stroke, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, breast and prostrate cancer. The location for this extraordinary community service event was the Sinai Community Institute on the Westside of Chicago. The Westside of Chicago is a community overwhelmingly economically underserved populated mostly by

Latinos and African-Americans. In this community, diabetes, heart disease and stroke are the leading causes of death. During the health fair Mu Xi received support from local area businesses like; Dominick's Finer Foods, Walgreens and the Sinai Community Institute. However, the health fair would not have been a success without the participation of our venders, exhibitors and speakers who donated their time and resources.
