ZETA PHI CHAPTER INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA
ZETA PHI MONTHLY REPORT AUGUST 2015 Greetings Brothers, peace and blessings to you and your families. It truly is a pleasure to be amongst the brothers once again. Since our last gathering in June, the Brothers have been hard at work stimulating and disseminating the values and Cardinal Principles of what we hold so dear to our heart. It brings me great pleasure to bring you the Chapter Report for the month of August.
June 10, 2015, the Zeta Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity once again manned the Grillz at the NPHC Annual Cook Out. As various members of the Divine 9 gathered at Broad Ripple Park, the skies were filled with Sun only to be shadowed by the smoke rising from below. In usual fashion, the crowds grew as the day slowly rolled along. The one constant visual of the cook out was the long lines that developed along side of the Purple and Gold. As Omega tradition holds it, Brother Charles Johnson finally relinquished the Grill to those fair haired youth who is passing that way. Although it was hard, he found himself orchestrating both grills and leading the charge to another successful cook out. Great Job to all of the Brothers in attendance, the bar has been raised once again. Zeta Phi Chapter

3RD Annual William E. Baugh B-Que
The third Annual William E. Baugh B Que occurred June 13th at Riverside Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. The above picture is a sight into the fellowship and relaxation that occurred. Brothers chose this day to celebrate the “The Big Man” of the Frat to honor a well known and loved Bridge Builder of Omega Psi Phi. Well over 6ft in stature Brother William E. Baugh the 15th Grand Basileus 1935-1937 is also known as the “School Master, Mr. Reclamation and Retention, and not to forget the “Iron Man.” Brother Baugh was married to Mrs. Tommie Knox whom together they raised their family with firm roots in the City of Indianapolis. Brother Baugh lead the charge in reclaiming Brothers whom found themselves straying from the oath that we all pledged to follow. Brother Baugh traveled out of his own pocket to College institutions near and far to establish Chapters seeking to find the light of Omega. The Auspicious Zeta Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi has produced and been home to a multitude of Great Brothers whom deserve to be recognized. In the event we chose to celebrate these men, it would be safe to say it would take a few months, maybe more to correctly thank these Brothers for all of their accomplishments. Brother Baugh worked tirelessly without hesitation and often alone. This further shows that no matter how many Men are involved, that Omega Train will always steam down the track. Personally, I have never heard of any Man being applauded with a half hour standing ovation until I learned of my Chapter Brother, “The Big Man” of the Frat.”

TAKIN IT TO THE GREENS Living up to the watchword of the Fraternity, the Brothers dug in and anted up for the call from the Ladies of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated. Northwest High School was the location that sat poised for Omega Men to take over its grounds. As Brothers laid out the plan of action, it was easy to see the vegetation of the grounds had lacked enthusiasm from its caretaker. However, a new day has come and very soon the weeds were removed and the stumps up rooted. Brothers were thoroughly immersed as the outcome would be the wood from several shovels broken in half, “hmm”. Fresh mulch surrounded the entrance and the trees that adorned the pathway to education. Thank you to the Delta’s for inviting us Brothers to do what we do best and that is, lead from the front.

2015 INDIANA BLACK EXPO
The 2015 Indiana Black Expo proved to be a festive celebration of Afro American Art and Culture. The various vendors and establishments in attendance definitely uplifted the community and those that traveled to attend. Brothers proved to be so Auspicious that on Saturday we also ran The Tuskegee booth as well. The “Great Accommodator” himself as WE.B Dubois often referred to him would have praised the Brothers as we spoke of the Illustrious history of one of Alabama’s 2nd Finest Historically Black Institutions of higher education, (Go Bama State Hornets). The Men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity produced literature that showcased the talents and contributions to the youth we all serve. Visitors to our spacious tent were overwhelmed with the amount of work that Omega has been involved in. Upon discovering the Ques display, mothers anxiously escorted their sons to meet the Men of Omega with the intentions of showing them a Brotherhood like no other. Several young brothers received applications to become involved with the Lamplighters as well as received information on the soon to come Omega Jr’s. Unfortunately, many of the young Brothers in attendance had never heard of a Fraternity. These same youngsters have never heard of our prominent Brothers in Medicine, Science, Ministry and other leading areas of life that were birthed through our beloved Omega. Throughout the Weekend the Lamp we all carry, shined bright enough to cover the entire convention center without electricity. Thank you to all the Brothers in attendance, we made a significant impact.

Editors Notes: Omega Chapter: Brother Taylor Livingston Baker Jr. Alpha Chapter, First Aro American Prosecutor in Marion County. “Stop the Hunger” On August 1st Brother Clyde Posley and The Antioch Baptist Church participated in the “Stop Hunger Now Initiative.” In 2 hours from 10am to 12pm, Brother Posley along with dedicated members of the church gathered in the basement of the church to feed 10,000 people, that’s after getting off to a 15 minute late start. Walking down into the basement the visual was the scene of people feverishly working while singing church hymns and giving thanks above for the ability to help those in need. This honorable project was a pleasure to be a part of and it would be a tremendous blessing in the future that the Zeta Phi Chapter could partner to help feed 21,000 people along side of Brother Posley and his loyal church members. Great Job to Brother Posley and the Antioch Baptist Church.
In conclusion Brothers, There are several worthy events taking place in the City of Indianapolis that requires the Brother’s attention. During our time at the Black Expo, several groups such as schools and not for profit agencies requested we attend their events. All of these events involve the youth and our presence is greatly missing. We often speak of these noble crux but fail to produce. The Time is Now Brothers!!!! Thank You for allowing me to serve.
