Simple Tasty Artichokes By Suzanne Jacobus, Resident since 1993

My mother grew up in San Francisco. They had an Italian friend who owned a restaurant in North Beach. This is how they taught my mother to prepare artichokes, so it has always been our family go to method. Ingredients: • 4 Medium Sized Artichokes • 5 cloves Garlic • Olive Oil • Salt and Pepper Directions: Cut bottoms and tough sides from the artichoke stems. Place the artichokes in pot and pour water half way up. Drizzle generously with olive oil. Put two halves of garlic inside leaves of each artichoke. Place extra garlic in the water. Salt and pepper. Bring to boil then turn down to simmer. Cook for 30 to 40 minutes. Artichokes are done when a fork can be inserted easily in bottom center.

The name says it all - simple, tasty artichokes!
