MATERIALS: + VAGGIS noticeboards + Lavender Spray paint + Pink Spray paint + Masking Tape +Paper to cover STEPS: Take out your measuring tape and mark the midpoint of your notice board, it is at this point that you will tape your corks board from. For the pink one I marked the left side and for the other one, the right side was marked. Gather old papers and tape around them, make sure to have the inner corners of the frame covered as well to avoid painting them alomg with. Apply several or a single coat of paint as per the coverage of your spray. I found the gold Montana spray paint having good coverage as one coat was enough. Let the paint dry and then carefully strip off the tape from your noticeboards to reveal the pretty rad effect.

THE LAZY GIRL GUIDE TO CHANGE

Page 14

L

ife is a constant balancing act between fearing change and constantly moving forward. As much as it makes me

uncomfortable, I know that life is in constant flux and whether it excites you or terrifies you: it will happen sooner or later. Fall marks the beginning of each era in my life -- Forget New Years! With the start of each Fall, I look at all the changes that will happen to my life. As someone who has a deep fear of the unknown – this season marks an air of uncertainty. Some may look at the beginning of Fall as exciting and new – but I twinge at any possibility of failure. Here are some facts that I have learned that help me with this:

1

. There is no success without failure, but don’t fixate on failure. Just try your best and ride the waves. Don’t ever look back (if it’s not to improve your strategy, then it’s irrelevant), and just keep moving

Page 15

forward.

2

. Have a plan A, and a plan B to Z. Always have a strategy and follow through with it.

3

. Start with the small things and work your way through it – baby steps darling!

4

. Never forget that you have options – you don’t have to settle for whatever the outcome is.

5

. Ask for advice and find confidence in your ability to make it!

Page 16

If you’re lazy on top of hating change – we’ve got something for you too! Don’t you fret; here are few tips to deal with all the changes happening in your life this Fall:

1

. Get excited about it! If you find something you care about, you’ll want to do it. Even finding the humor in it – whether it be roasting coworkers at your new job or going to a class with an amusing professor, finding interest is a key element to taking action and conquering uncertainty.

2 3

. Have a vision and start finding ways to get reach your goals.

. Consider each option carefully and narrow them down to their details and achievability

4

. What would Beyoncé Do??? If she’s not your icon insert other queens: Oprah, Tina Fey, Meryl Streep, Adele, Selena, or the two other chicks from Destiny’s Child… whatever floats your boat!

Summer

Isn’t Over Until We Say It’s Over!

I

t’s the last long weekend of summer and we have no clue how the summer time came and went so quickly! Don’t fret too much lovelies – summer isn’t technically over.

Although the end of summer is upon us, we urge you to seize the last bit of warm weather! Go out, make a drink or two, and enjoy a patio or pool side. Even though fall is a time to get back into the swing of things, the sun is still out and the weather is still poppin’ (fingers crossed!). Why not have a summer after party? Don’t let the summer vibe end until the leaves start turning. Then you can cry… but until then, sashay away.

COCONUT PAPAYA SMOOTHIE

Page 29

Pineapple Ginger And Turmeric Tart FOR THE COCONUT ALMOND GLUTEN FREE BASE: • Rectangular tart pan 8 x 12 inches • 8.45 oz (240 g) grated coconut • 9.5 oz (270 g) ground almond • 6 oz (170 g) condensed milk • 0.7 oz (20 g) water • pinch of salt FOR THE PINEAPPLE, GINGER AND TURMERIC CREAM: • 25 oz (710 g) fresh pineapple juice, natural (about 35 oz (1 kg) natural pineapple, peeled) • 2.45 oz (70 g) fresh lime and lemon juice, about 1 lime + 1 lemon • 1.6 oz (45 g) fresh ginger, peeled • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder • 4 large eggs • 4.25 oz (120 g) unsalted butter, melted and cooled • 8.8 oz (250 g) sugar • 6 gelatin leaves • pinch of salt FOR DECORATION: • dehydrated pineapple flowers • green pineapples leaves Source: Bake-Street

Page 30

INSTRUCTIONS: MAKE THE COCONUT AND ALMOND BASE. 1. In a large bowl add the grated coconut along with the ground almond and salt, mix with a spoon. 2. Pour the condensed milk and mix to integrate the ingredients. We will have to work a bit with our hands to get a homogeneous mixture. 3. Add water little by little and integrate at the same time. We will have to get a batter that does not break but does not exceed when hydrating it. 4. Tranfer the mixture to the tart pan. We will do it in small portions and we will adjust the mixture to this, both the base and the sides. 5. Once we have all the mixture transfer into the mold, we will help with a small glass to level the mixture. 6. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours so the base gets firm. MAKE THE PINEAPPLE, GINGER AND TURMERIC CREAM. 1. Fill a bowl with very cold water and introduce the gelatin leaves inside to make them hydrate. 2. Melt the butter, set aside. 3. Clean the pineapple, cut the outer crust and slice it. We will reserve 6 or 7 slices, finely cut, to make the flowers later. 4. Using a blender we will elaborate the pineapple and ginger juice. Add both in pieces and liquefy, reserve the juice. 5. Squeeze the lemon and lime, pour into a mediumsized pot. 6. Pour the pineapple juice and ginger along with eggs, sugar, melted butter and turmeric. 7. Place over medium heat stirring (my vitroceramic hob has 1-9 position, I used the 5), thus avoid adhering to the bottom of the pan and forming lumps. 8. Keep it to the heat, beating with the rods constantly until the mixture reaches the 181ยบF, for this we will help us of a digital thermometer. It is important that the mixture does not boil. It will take us about 10 minutes, patience. 9. Remove from the heat and let the mixture reduce its temperature to 131-122ยบF. 10. Add the hydrated gelatin leaves, previously very well drained, and mix with the rods until completely dissolved. 11. Pour the pineapple mixture over the base, you will have a little more of the mixture that you will need for the tart, and place in the fridge overnight.

Mango Kiwi Chia Seed Smoothie Bowl INGREDIENTS 2 tablespoons chia seeds 1 ½ cups unsweetened almond milk, divided 2 medium bananas, sliced and frozen 2 cups frozen mango chunks 2 kiwis, peeled and sliced Optional Toppings 2 tablespoons chia seeds, chopped nuts, coconut, other fruits and seeds INSTRUCTIONS In a small bowl, add chia seeds and ½ cup of almond milk. Give it a good whisk, until thoroughly combined.

Take the chia seed mixture out of the fridge—it should have thickened to a gel-like consistency. Give it another good whisk. Using a rubber spatula or spoon, scrape the chia seed mixture out of the cup and into the blender. Blend until smooth. Pour into two bowls. Top with kiwi slices. Add additional toppings as you’d like. Source: Demeter | Beaming Baker

Cover and let set in the fridge for about 10 minutes. Add bananas and the remaining 1 cup of almond milk to a blender. Blend until smooth, scraping down the sides of the blender as need. Add mangoes, blending until mostly smooth.
