Hello.

If nothing else, 2016 has been a very stable year in terms of buyer confidence and attendance levels at inspections/open houses. A recent survey of almost 2,500 Australians illustrated that confidence in the housing market, particularly the residential sector, remains high. Sixty-four per cent of the respondents believed that now was a good time to buy, up four per cent from the same time last year. Just shy of forty per cent believe that house prices will rise over the next twelve months with the balance confident that they will remain relatively stable or flat. However units were not viewed so favourably with sentiment suggesting that the high levels of unit construction underway will continue to impede unit price capital growth for the next few years. Over the last twelve months to August 2016, units saw negative growth -0.4 per cent capital growth as opposed to a positive 4.9 per cent for houses. Regardless of consumer sentiment, supply levels and historical price change, navigating the residential property market is a deeply personal journey – unique to your circumstance at this current point in time.
