Gazing out across the Broadwater to Wave Break Island late one afternoon I was reminded of why my family and I live here. There’s reference to it in both the names of the suburbs covered in this report and I suspect it’s largely the reason why you live here as well. Water. We love being near it, and if like me you agree, life’s better when you live near it. Humans have always loved being close to water and it’s a common affinity shared around the globe. For locals, living here in Biggera Waters and Runaway Bay, being near the water can mean so many different things. Casting a line from the foreshore, trying your hand (and body) at kitesurfing, a kayak trek or a Sunday spent sailing – there is so much on offer and more than I can list here. But aside from the obvious water based pursuits, our part of the world is also home to over 1,000 kilometers of walking and bike tracks. Trails linking Gold Coast parks, neighbourhoods, schools and foreshores. An interconnected corridor and one of the best ways to commute to work, take a casual walk to clear the mind and an inspiring way to explore everything on offer. So, whether you are new to the area or just wanting to see what’s now on offer, a walk along the pathway from Quota park to the Labrador boat ramp will give you a very clear idea of just how much choice we all have when it comes to lifestyle around here. Or if you would prefer, drop in at my office or one of my open homes – I have maps and guides, programs and schedules and I am only too happy to help.
