Welcome to the latest edition of my Market Report It’s a wrap. With the 2016/17 financial year and 2nd quarter of 2017 now behind us, this beautiful part of the world has again confirmed itself as one of Australia’s most consistent and stable markets for capital growth. Where the question of affordability is starting to reduce some of the enthusiasm we are seeing in Sydney and Melbourne, balanced investors are looking to South East Queensland, the peninsula, as a great buying opportunity. As the PIPA (Property Investment Professionals of Australia) Chairman said, “I think on the whole it’s going to be an affordability story, there’s an almost seventy per cent difference in median value and only a seventeen per cent income difference between Brisbane and Sydney.” When we also consider general sentiment and confidence surrounding greater economic conditions, continued investment in local infrastructure and urban renewal there is an expectation that our local housing market will rally solidly from now through to the close of 2018.
