Per l’occasione ha celebrato anche il decimo anniversario e presentato il nuovo logo Maxitech.

Tra le principali novità presentate ricordiamo: • STN 8500, filmatrice Omory (nella foto) in grado di raggiungere velocità fino a 120 vassoi/min, caratterizzata da una tecnologia esclusiva di alimentazione del film e di piegatura dell’aletta finale; • Easy Grader, calibratrice compatta di Linco, ideale per pesare e selezionare articoli con dimensioni fino a 250x350 mm e peso di 4000 g; • separatore 605 di Baader per separare le parti morbide dalle parti dure di qualsiasi tipo di prodotto alimentare; • barriera termica Mycom/Mayekawa, sistema innovativo utilizzato per impedire lo scambio termico tra l’interno e l’esterno di una cella frigorifera.

Termoformatrici per prodotti alimentari Le termoformatrici realizzate da AL.MA. (Cadorago, CO) - destinate a confezionare prodotti alimentari, secchi o cremosi - sono in grado di soddisfare le esigenze specifiche del settore food (igiene, elevata produttività, efficienza e affidabilità). Sul fronte dell’igiene è stata messa a punto una nuova linea per prodotti alimentari, con struttura e coperture interamente realizzate in acciaio inox. La sagomatura delle varie pannellature è stata studiata in modo da evitare il ristagno di residui di prodotto e dell’acqua usata per la pulizia della macchina.

A creative multipack Finpac Srl, Milan, has created an alternative multipack, particularly suited to concerns in the dairy and soft drinks sector. SleevePackTM in fact enables the grouping and

sleeving at the same time of 4 bottles using a single preperforated label. The system enables a considerable saving of material without prejudicing the main functions of the label (decoration, information on the product and relative identification).

The surface of the bottle is not totally covered, but only in the external part of the group of bottles that are wrapped (at the moment samples for a grouping of 2 or 4 bottles have been produced).

The SleevePack has several parts: some removable (those between the bottles) and other set ones on the bottle. The vertical pre-perforation facilitates the elimination of the part of the label between the bottles, thus enabling their separation, while another part stays attached to the single product, maintaining the information on the label.

Aluminium: the importance of recycling Aluminium’s total recyclability can contribute to the value of containers made with this material.

This is also demonstrated by the approach of the EU that, with the specific regulation governing environmental protection, penalizes nonrecyclable packaging.

As well as being a fundamental “ingredient” of many of our kitchen utensils of daily use, aluminium is the packaging material that registers the highest percentage of collection and recycling. In 2008, in fact, recovery of aluminium packaging in Italy reached 38,550 t, 63.6% of that put on the market. That means that circa 400,000 t of carbon dioxide were prevented from being emitted into the atmosphere (a problem arising from the extraction of aluminium from bauxite). This represents an important outcome for the environment, considering the 95% reduction in energy needed to extract aluminium. A valuable contributor to this result was Zenith Srl (Manerbio, BS), a leader in the production of aluminium containers. A full 85% of the Brescia based company raw material is derived from recycling, without in any way undermining the quality of the product. Furthermore, 20% of the waste materials of the production process are completely recycled.

And if, as in the case of Zenith, industry fields specific skills for a greater protection of the environment, on the other hand one needs targeted measures to incentivate segregated collection among consumers and municipal administrators, upping the recovery of all aluminium containers (not only tins). Because, as the people at Zenith maintain, the environment is everyone’s asset and safeguarding it the best we can is a challenge to be taken on for the common good.

Flow pack solutions Nuova Dizma’s flow-pack packaging machines (Pavan Group) stand out for their high performance, sturdiness and structural quality.

The company has renewed its offer to propose a broad range of products responding to all needs with made-to-measure advanced technical and financial solutions. A vast number of goods sectors are served: from pasta to bread, biscuits to crackers, chocolate to wafers, leavened bakery products to snacks, soap to cosmetics, medication to household cleaning products, paper to plastics, disposable products to spare parts, and more besides. Moreover, Dizma offers automations and automatic power supplies of various types and price-ranges, up to complete and automatic lines with mechanical hands and pick-and-place robots. Alluminio: l’importanza del riciclo La totale riciclabilità dell’alluminio contribuisce a valorizzare i contenitori realizzati con questo materiale. Lo dimostra anche l’atteggiamento dell’Unione europea che, con le normative specifiche in materia di tutela ambientale, penalizza gli imballaggi non riciclabili.

Oltre a essere “ingrediente” fondamentale di numerosi nostri attrezzi da cucina di uso quotidiano, l’alluminio è, tra i materiali di imballaggio, quello che registra le più alte percentuali di raccolta e riciclo; nel 2008, infatti, il recupero di imballaggi di alluminio ha toccato in Italia le 38.550 t, ovvero il 63,6% dell’immesso sul mercato. In pratica questo ha evitato l’emissione in atmosfera di circa 400.000 t di anidride carbonica (problema generato dall’estrazione di alluminio dalla bauxite).

Si tratta di un risultato importante per la salvaguardia ambientale, che ha anche consentito di risparmiare il 95% dell’energia necessaria per l’estrazione dell’alluminio.

Risultato a cui ha contributo anche Zenith Srl (Manerbio, BS), produttore di prima grandez-

za di contenitori di alluminio. La società bresciana utilizza per l’85% materia prima derivata da riciclo, senza che ciò influisca minimamente sull’aspetto qualitativo dei prodotti e, inoltre, ricicla in toto il 20% degli scarti di materiale derivati dalla produzione.

E se, come nel caso di Zenith, l’industria mette in campo competenze specifiche per una maggiore tutela ambientale, dall’altro sono necessari interventi mirati a incentivare la cultura della raccolta differenziata presso i consumatori e le amministrazioni comunali, potenziando il recupero di tutti i contenitori di alluminio (e non solo delle lattine). Perché, sostengono in Zenith, l’ambiente è patrimonio di tutti e tutelarlo al meglio è una sfida da accettare per il bene comune.

Soluzioni flow pack Da sempre le confezionatrici flowpack Nuova Dizma (Pavan Group) sono contraddistinte da elevate prestazioni, robustezza e qualità costruttiva. Oggi, la società rinnova la propria offerta proponendo una gamma articolata, che incontra qualunque richiesta con soluzioni tecniche ed GDV economiche avanzate, su misura del cliente. Un packaging “alternativo” Molti prodotti (tonno, legumi, carne, pomodori, spalmabili, pet food…) sono, in genere, confezionati in scatole metalliche. Frutti di mare, confetture, ragù e antipasti di pesce vengono invece spesso distribuiti in vasetti di vetro, sterilizzati in autoclave.

La veronese Lazzari Packaging - rappresentante esclusivo in Italia di Sealpac (produttrice di Traysealer) - propone un’interessante alternativa a entrambe le tipologie di packaging usate nel settore conserve.

Si tratta del sistema Sealpac, sviluppato in collaborazione con un importante produttore di materiali da imballaggio.

Il confezionamento dei prodotti a lunga conservazione viene eseguito su una linea Traysealer, impiegando vaschette preformate di plastica sterilizzabile e monomateriale, quindi riciclabili. Le confezioni realizzate sono

facili da aprire, grazie a un film pelabile sviluppato ad hoc e, data la resistenza agli urti o alle cadute, mantengono la forma originale. Ma i vantaggi non finiscono qui. Il sistema Sealpac garantisce infatti: - resistenza alla sterilizzazione in autoclave, sino a 130 °C; - barriera elevata e costante nel tempo (ad esempio sino a due anni per il tonno); - possibilità di riscaldare gli imballaggi in forno a microonde o forno convenzionale; - ottime proprietà sensoriali (eliminazione di odori sgradevoli); - flessibilità (rapido cambio formato sulla stessa linea); - riduzione dei costi di acquisto per confezione.

Applicato al confezionamento di un prodotto spalmabile a base di pesce, questo concept ha vinto, nel 2008, i DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation.

Many products (tunafish, legumes, tinned meat, tomatoes, spreads and pet food …) are generally speaking packed in metal tins. Seafood, jams, meat sauces and fish starters often come in glass jars, sterilised in an autoclave. The Verona based concern Lazzari Packaging - exclusive representative for Italy of Sealpac (the produer of Traysealer) - offers alternative solutions to these two types of packaging in the field of preserves.

More specifically the Sealpac system is devised in cooperation with an important packaging material producer.

The packaging of longlife products is carried out on a Traysealer line, using preformed trays sterilisable plastic that are monomaterial and hence recyclable. The packs made are easy to open, thanks to an especially devised pealable film, keeping their original shape thanks to their shock and drop resistance.

But the advantages do not stop here. The Sealpac system in fact offers; - resistance to sterilisation in autoclave, up to 130 °C; - high and constant barrier in time (for example up to two years for tunafish); - possibility of heating packaging in microwave or conventional ovens; - excellent sensorial properties (elimination of unpleasant odours); - flexibility (rapid format change on the same line); - reduction of purchasing cost per pack.

Applied to the packaging of a fish based spreadable product, in 2008 this concept won the DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation.

Food&Beverage M a t e r i a l s & M a c h i n e r y rinktec con brindisi lo scorso settembre: secondo l’indagine condotta dagli organizzatori, il 42% degli espositori all’expo tedesca delle tecnologie per il beverage ha firmato contratti di vendita nei 6 giorni di fiera, il 77% ha preparato il terreno per concludere affari nei mesi successivi e il 74% ha allacciato nuovi rapporti commerciali.

Ai dati ufficiali divulgati da Monacofiere fanno eco le opinioni che abbiamo raccolto durante la manifestazione, tutte positive, senza eccezioni. Drinktec 2009, affermano i produttori italiani che hanno esposto a Monaco di Baviera dal 14 al 19 settembre scorso, ha registrato un’affluenza più che soddisfacente (60.000 visitatori), molto internazionale (il 55% del pubblico era non-tedesco), in rappresentanza di tutto il mondo (170 Paesi, soprattutto Cina, India, Stati Uniti, Sudafrica,

guono): «I dati di fatto sono ormai chiari: la crisi interessa l’intera economia e ne conosciamo le dinamiche; i governi sono intervenuti a sostegno del sistema finanziario evitando il peggio; nonostante le difficoltà la maggior parte delle imprese manifatturiere ha “tenuto”; oggi stanno ripartendo gli investimenti.

Detto questo, non possiamo però ignorare i molti fattori che rendono l’attuale ripresa precaria e ne riducono la portata, a partire dal fatto che il mondo della finanza ha rilanciato vecchi giochi pericolosi (che non escludono l’eventualità di altre “bolle”) e che i governi hanno destinato aiuti a banche e assicurazioni senza, però, imporre la necessaria regolamentazione. In Italia, poi, non si è ancora intervenuto con coerenza e incisività a snellire la burocrazia e a sostenere tanto le imprese che hanno il

tori: “flessibilità” è dunque la seconda parola d’ordine, accanto a “economicità”.

Inoltre - anzi, proprio per questo - non accenna a fermarsi la tendenza a realizzare contenitori sempre più sottili, all’insegna della massima riduzione possibile dei materiali.

A Monaco ce ne hanno dato dimostrazione - per citare solo alcuni esempi emblematici - KHS (con un mezzo litro da 6.4 g); PET Engineering, che ha realizzato un prototipo di mezzo litro da 6,6 g (il Bottle Fly) e ora lavora a ulteriori sgrammature; Sipa che, dopo il litro da 16 g e il due litri da 27, oggi ha raggiunto il mezzo litro da 9,9 g e - ultima frontiera - da 7 g; Sidel che, passata dai 14,5 g del mezzo litro del 2006 ai 12,4 del 2008, oggi ha ottenuto 10,6 g lavorando sul collo della bottiglia e prosegue a grandi passi su una strada promettente (da citare anche la riduzione del 20%

Cin cin DRINKTEC IMBOTTIGLIAMENTO Un’inchiesta condotta da ItaliaImballaggio presso gli espositori del drinkec 2009 fa “il punto” sull’andamento del mercato internazionale del beverage. In queste pagine i trend tecnologici e di domanda, lo stato dell’arte in fatto di macchine e prodotti, le analisi degli imprenditori e i pronostici sul fine crisi.

Soprattutto, hanno affermato i nostri interlocutori, si è trattato di un’affluenza qualificata, per lo più di decision maker con progetti di investimento.

Era tutt’altro che scontato - le contraddizioni e la delicatezza dell’attuale momento economico e politico sono sotto gli occhi di tutti - e, dunque, ha portato sollievo. I produttori di macchine e soluzioni per l’imbottigliamento e il finelinea hanno, alla fine, manifestato ottimismo. Ottimismo, appunto, non semplice respiro di sollievo da scampato pericolo: più ragionato, più maturo, più “avvertito”, fondato tuttavia sulla consapevolezza che non basta ricominciare a vendere per uscire dalle secche.

Il perché lo ha spiegato, in estrema sintesi, Alfredo Aureli - titolare e presidente di Aetna Group - esprimendo il pensiero di molti altri imprenditori (per le varianti rimandiamo alle pagine che se-

coraggio di investire (con opportuni interventi di defiscalizzazione) quanto i lavoratori che rischiano la marginalità (con ammortizzatori sociali adeguati)».

Che fare, dunque? Aureli non ha dubbi: «Prima che l’economia torni ai livelli precrisi ci vorranno anni - stima l’imprenditore - e quando usciremo dal tunnel solo chi avrà avuto la capacità finanziaria e il coraggio di riorganizzare radicalmente la propria impresa potrà giocare da protagonista nell’economia del futuro».

PAROLA D’ORDINE: RISPARMIO Gli scenari futuribili sono già chiaramente prefigurati negli orientamenti della domanda di oggi. I grandi imbottigliatori internazionali, così come le piccole fonti che avviano oggi l’attività, chiedono macchine e tecnologie in grado di razionalizzare i flussi (molti i monoblocchi di nuova concezione), di risparmiare sui costi di gestione (anzitutto energetici), di gestire più operazioni e più tipi di conteni-

I fornitori di soluzioni e sistemi per l’imbottigliamento sono assolutamente consapevoli delle istanze di mercato, come mostra la rassegna di prodotti che segue queste note. E, in più di un caso, stanno anche mostrando di aver compreso i vantaggi che derivano dalla collaborazione con altre imprese, magari su un singolo progetto, superando così l’individualismo tipico della nostra cultura nazionale. Qualche esempio per tutti: Ocme con Promag nel finelinea e con BRB Globus nelle etichettatrici; Elettric 80 con il partner commerciale Bema (etichettatura e fasciatura) e con System Logistics (logistica); Sipa con PE Labellers e con la neo-acquisita Berchi per il processo integrato soffiatura-riempimento-etichettatura… Panda rei (tutto cambia), e anche velocemente. L'unità è dimensionata per fornire un rendimento orario di 28.800 contenitori, e può essere utilizzata indifferentemente per bevande piatte o gassate.

Continua, Tomba, la sua analisi, sottolineando anche la grande flessibilità che la nostra struttura produttiva, costituita in prevalenza da piccole/medie aziende, conferisce all’intera eco-

nomia nazionale. Al contempo, però, sottolinea che su molti piani non si torna indietro: «Nel nostro settore, il mercato non chiede più generiche prestazioni ma vantaggi concreti. In altre parole, si acquistano le macchine più veloci solo se la velocità, in quel contesto dato, porta beneficio; in altre situazioni si opterà piuttosto sulla maggior versatilità o sulla semplicità di un impianto.

Noi, oggi, ai nostri clienti garantiamo anzitutto certezze: sul fatto che forniamo loro esattamente quello che serve; che le nostre soluzioni sono affidabili; che garantiamo un servizio completo, coscienti che oggi l’area logistica insieme a quella del confezionamento sono gli ambiti in cui si possono sviluppare e realizzare effettive riduzioni di costo. Insomma, la ripresa si vivrà all’insegna della concretezza».

Le imboccature 28 mm monofiletto in versione compatta si stanno diffondendo grazie alle loro caratteristiche di sicurezza ed economicità: è il caso della capsula PCO-16.8 proposta da CDS Srl Viroplastic (Piacenza) per imboccature PCO17 che, a fronte di un minor impiego di materiale, assicura una tenuta superiore. Si tratta di una capsula universale, idonea per imbottigliare acque minerali e bibite, bevande piatte e gassate fino a un massimo di 8,0 g/l di CO2. Viene prodotta tramite stampaggio a compressione, con temperature di estrusione sensibilmente più basse del sistema iniezione, ottenendo così una notevole costanza dimensionale.

Una speciale banda di garanzia ad alette flessibili assicura il passaggio agile e senza impuntamenti sull’anello di sicurezza dell’imboccatura, insieme a una presa salda e precisa. La filettatura

del tappo è prodotta per settori, per favorire una sgasatura di sicurezza prima dell’apertura completa. Il profilo esterno della capsula a righe sottili (144) assicura, infine, un’impugnatura gradevole e una buona visibilità dell'eventuale numero di lotto. Ma non si tratta della sola novità CDS. Tra la fine di quest’anno e l’inizio del 2010 l’azienda piacentina ha infatti programmato l’entrata in produzione di una linea dedicata a un nuovissimo tipo di capsula, che può essere montata su entrambi i sistemi mono-principio compatti (i già citati PCO-17 e PCO-1881).

Denominata Euro-2, proprio per sottolineare questa bivalenza, è stata presentata in anteprima assoluta a Drinktec, è prodotta a iniezione con un profilo esterno a 72 righe; è dotata di una speciale banda di garanzia con doppi settori di aggancio per una perfetta funzionalità ed efficacia anti-violo.

Più design con il vetro Il soffitto, realizzato con un gran numero di bottiglie retro-illuminate, dà la sensazione di essere avvolti dal vetro mentre i giochi di luce suggeriscono le mille potenzialità espressive della materia prima. Da qui si sviluppano gli altri elementi dello stand, comprese le porzioni di verde su cui sedersi, la quinta scenica che fa da sfondo alla reception - punto di accoglienza e ristoro - e persino le profumazioni d’ambiente che “arredano” le varie zone dello stand, contribuendo a realizzare uno spazio veramente multisensoriale. Questo lo spazio in cui O-I ha accolto i visitatori del Drinktec.

Lo ha progettato Francesco Lucchese - docente al Politecnico di Milano e all’Accademia di Brera, designer di fama e mastro vetraio (tirocinio a Murano) - pensandolo come «scenario naturale, dove tutti gli elementi enfatizzano la sostenibilità, salubrità, purezza e i benefici unici che il vetro ci apporta ogni giorno».

La vetreria ha voluto così valorizzare le potenzialità espressive di un materiale molto amato dai consumatori e, al contempo, mettere in scena la ricchissima gamma di bottiglie standard e personalizzate realizzate a partire dalla fondazione, nel 1903, ad opera di quel Michael Owens che inventò il procedimento per produrre le bottiglie di vetro a livello industriale (oggi O-I ha in catalogo oltre 2.500 modelli depositati, opera a livello globale con 23.000 addetti e 79 impianti produttivi in 21 Paesi, e ha realizzato ne 2008 vendite nette per 7,9 miliardi di dollari).

• Innovazione continua e piena assunzione delle responsabilità etiche dei produttori di packaging guidano lo sviluppo di OI, che in Europa ha costruito il primo mercato di sbocco al servizio di clienti grandi e piccoli nei vari segmenti del food e del beverage. La ricerca è anzitutto impegnata nello sviluppo di nuove forme e di nuovi colori, utilizzando una tecnologia specifica che consente di produrre cromie diverse in contemporanea, anche in piccole quantità. O-I, inoltre, è pioniera nell'uso della tecnologia NNPB (narrow neck press and blow), che permette di minimizzare il peso dei contenitori senza comprometterne la funzionalità, nonché maestra nelle lavorazioni a sbalzo e nei mille decori ottenuti con l’impiego della serigrafia, delle varie tipologie di finitura, delle sleeve e quant’altro di necessario a ottenere i look di tendenza.

Ma, per presentare le ultime innovazioni relative al finelinea, espresse nella “Linea Compatta”, ha scelto di organizzare un’open house presso il proprio stabilimento di Fornovo Taro (PR).

All’interno della Linea Compatta, segnaliamo Twisterbox, sistema per l’orientamento dei pacchi e la formazione in continuo degli strati, che la società emiliana ha ideato in risposta alla crescenti esigenze espresse dalla grande distribuzione di trattare pacchi instabili e cluster di piccole dimensioni. In grado di manipolare qualsiasi tipo di contenitore (multipack, fardelli, bottiglie di PET da 5 l, casse di plastica, cartoni, vassoi ecc.), viene posizionato all’ingresso del palettizzatore formando, di fatto, un insieme unico che riceve i prodotti dal finelinea, li posiziona e li palettizza con estrema facilità e rapidità tramite una serie di pinze di presa robotizzate.

Acmi ne ha di recente presentato la seconda generazione, Twisterbox 2, che può essere associata a tutti i palettizzatori della casa e impiegata in sistemi multiliner in abbinamento al robot Condor.

Cambiare, senza fermare Genesis Futura 80 (Robopac Sistemi) è un’avvolgitrice automatica ad anello rotante, con il dispositivo brevettato di motorizzazione esterna del carrello di prestiro.

Questa caratteristica permette di definire da quadro elettrico la forza di deposito del film che stabilizza il prodotto, raggiungere prestiri fino al 400% e variare questo fattore con continuità, anche nel corso dello stesso ciclo di fasciatura, senza doverlo interrompere.

Altissime le produzioni orarie, che raggiungono i 135 pallet/h.

PRIMO: INVESTIRE «È il momento di investire sugli uomini e di mettere a punto un processo gestionale che permetta di cogliere le opportunità, guardando ai mercati del futuro». Ragiona in positivo Alfredo Aureli, patron e presidente di Aetna Group (Villa Verucchio, RN - macchine e sistemi per il fine linea), nonostante faccia un’analisi della realtà tutt’altro che incantata (si veda l’introduzione di questo servizio). E precisa: «Anche nella fasciatura, come in altri ambiti del manifatturiero, in questi mesi di crisi abbiamo registrato una flessione significativa.

Tuttavia, ritengo di poter “recuperare il business perduto” razionalizzando le aziende del gruppo per migliorarne l’efficienza; ho iniziato concentrandomi sulla lean manufacturing, con l’aiuto di consulenti specializzati. La ripresa, infatti, è palpabile ma non dobbiamo abbassare la guardia: la fine del tunnel non si vede ancora e non dobbiamo esitare a compiere quei processi di riorganizzazione che nei momenti di sviluppo non abbiamo avuto il coraggio di fare».

Nel gruppo riminese la flessione di ordini ha riguardato più le macchine automatiche che le soluzioni di base. I visitatori della fiera hanno espresso un interesse particolarmente vivo per la linea composta da un avvolgitore a doppio braccio rotante (Helix HS40/2) e l’anello rotante Genesis Futura 80 in grado di assicurare altissime capacità produttive.

Grazie agli elevati valori di prestiro, e permettendo di definire in ogni momento la quantità di film da posizionare sul carico, queste macchine consentono di risparmiare film e ridurre quindi i costi di esercizio e impatto ambientale.

Nuove generazioni a finelinea Baumer (Castelfranco Emilia, MO) presenta la nuova generazione di incartonatrici wrap-around e di fardellatrici termoretraibili, con caratteristiche di base che rispettano gli standard dell’intera produzione dell’azienda emiliana: sincronizzazione dei movimenti meccanici tramite servomotori; cambio formato rapido; possibilità di impostare nuovi formati da pannello operatore; capacità di confezionare il quarto di pallet e il quinconce; ingresso a 90° in continuo (e relativa riduzione dello spazio, con un costo stampati contenuto); cambio bobina completamente automatico senza saldatura, anche per film, alla velocità di 80 ppm (con un risparmio del film dal 10 al 15%); inserimento alveari dal basso; concezione multifunzione, per confezionare sulla stessa macchina cartone wrap around, vassoio, vassoio + coperchio e solo film.

• A Drinktec, in particolare, allo stand Baumer era possibile “toccare con mano” le ultime novità, come il pannello operatore che, attraverso un’interfaccia grafica facile e intuitiva, permette di effettuare con immediatezza operazioni di cambio formato, diagnostica e analisi della produttività. Oppure l’alimentatore a 90° (brevettato), che consente di lavorare qualsiasi tipo di prodotto (inclusi parallelepipedi, ovali e le forme più svariate, anche particolarmente instabili) con film termoretraibile o cartone wrap-around, in spazi estremamente ridotti e a costi minori, in quanto elimina il divisore che incanala i prodotti. Questo sistema permette di produrre a moto continuo, grazie a un dispositivo di spinta rotante che, mantenendo la velocità costante, guida il prodotto senza pressione e serve più di una linea.

Food&Beverage Sleeveratrice modulare

Sacmi Labelling (Mozzecane, VR) ha esposto a Drinktec la nuova etichettatrice modulare Opera R.F.S.T. (Roll Fed Sleeve Tecnology). La macchina applica etichette avvolgenti termoretraibili partendo direttamente da film in bobina, e impiega una tecnica di saldatura laser; il processo viene completato da una o più stazioni di termoretrazione. Opera R.F.S.T. raggiunge i 60.000 bpm con contenitori da 40 a 110 mm di diametro, e posiziona etichette da 50 a 250 mm di altezza; inoltre può lavorare sia “full body sleeve” sia “partial sleeve”, orientando a piacere l’etichetta sulla bottiglia. Sacmi ne ha sviluppato anche una versione modulare estremamente flessibile, che applica non solo sleeve ma anche etichette roll fed, autoadesive e a colla.

Opera si può integrare nel CBF 10, presentato in fiera come il primo monoblocco di riempimento ultraigienico direttamente collegato a monte con la macchina forma bottiglie per compressione.

CBF (Compression Blow Forming) è un particolare processo di trasformazione del materiale plastico messo a punto in Sacmi, basato sulla combinazione dell’estrusione continua del materiale con la compressione e il soffiaggio. Permette di passare dal granulato plastico al contenitore, indipendentemente dal tipo di resina utilizzata, in un unico ciclo di lavorazione, utilizzando meno materiale.

Non era in fiera, invece, perché ancora in fase di brevetto, una soffiatrice di nuova concezione. Secondo le prime anticipazioni, è in grado di produrre diversi tipi di bottiglia su uno stampo ad hoc, con cambi formato rapidissimi. Dotata di servomotori che ne incrementano la flessibilità, è collegabile con la macchina a compressione che realizza le preforme: in questo modo vengono veicolate al soffiaggio direttamente, senza passare per il forno.

Pharmapack

CONFRONTARSI CON IL MERCATO Si è presentato in forze il Gruppo Sacmi, che quest’anno ha rinunciato ad altre manifestazioni B2B per puntare tutto su Drinktec. Soddisfatti della scelta i responsabili della compagine imolese, che ha sfruttato l’occasione per illustrare un gran numero di nuovi sviluppi, in vista della (confermata) ripresa della domanda. Con una precisazione: «Abbiamo valutato con attenzione la consistenza delle notizie circolate nei mesi scorsi - afferma Daniela Orlandi, marketing manager di Sacmi Labelling - e abbiamo scoperto che non tutte erano fondate sui fatti. Per esempio, se è vero che il bottling in Europa ha subito una battuta d’arresto, così non è stato negli Stati Uniti, dove addirittura sono stati incrementati gli investimenti, sia in linee complete sia in macchine stand alone. Piuttosto, si è esasperata la concorrenza fra noi fornitori, costretti a una guerra senza quartiere sui prezzi a esclusivo vantaggio degli utilizzatori, e senza più ambiti privilegiati di riferimento (se una volta c’era chi serviva in prevalenza le birrerie e chi si rivolgeva alle acque… oggi, tendenzialmente, i costruttori di macchine sono presenti in tutti i segmenti del mercato)».

Cambia, dunque, la geografia dell’offerta, anche per effetto della generale tendenza alla concentrazione: «Alla fine - stima Orlandi - resteranno i fornitori medio-grandi, con un’adeguata solidità anche sul piano finanziario, in grado di proporsi come interlocutori unici a un cliente che chiede soluzioni complete, partendo addirittura dalla preforma». I trend di domanda? Linee che partono dal pellet e finiscono al pallet, il più compatte possibili, con funzioni modulari e che consumino sempre meno energia.

L’ottimismo del manager si esprime anche nel pronostico di un’imminente piena ripresa delle attività che la fiera di Monaco autorizza, confermando la “tenuta” del settore imballaggio «dove, a mio parere, gli interventi di ristrutturazione radicale messi in campo da qualche azienda non erano sempre proporzionali ai problemi».

Sta di fatto che, in Sew, la frenata è stata gestita

senza ricorrere a licenziamenti o ammortizzatori sociali: «Abbiamo migliorato la produttività del personale e, al contempo, rimandato l’erogazione di incentivi e premi, chiesto il godimento delle ferie arretrate ecc. e ora siamo pronti ad affrontare la ripartenza del mercato con tutti gli strumenti e gli uomini necessari.

Se ci aspettiamo qualche difficoltà, casomai, è sul piano finanziario, per via dei rischi di solidità o di solvibilità dei clienti, e sulla tempistica delle consegne nel caso la ripresa delle commesse sia più vivace del previsto. Un problema, questo, che affronteremo molto volentieri».

Etichettatrice roll fed Drinktec si è svolto in un momento ideale per lanciare una novità, messa a punto da BRB Globus e sviluppata in collaborazione con Ocme (Parma). Si tratta di Mega Roll, macchina roll fed equipaggiata con la stazione di etichettatura Sagitta di Ocme. «Senza bisogno di complessi accordi formali - ha sottolineato al riguardo Alessandro Marchini - ci siamo seduti a un tavolo e abbiamo visto come lavorare insieme per mettere a punto un prodotto che sommasse la loro eccellenza nel taglio, incollaggio e sbobinatura, e la nostra nei caroselli e nell’impiantistica».

L’altra novità è la modulare Mega Flex, caratterizzata da camma elettronica programmabile e moduli intercambiabili con grande velocità e immediatezza, in modo da poter attivare di volta in volta differenti stazioni di etichettatura.

SCELTE CORAGGIOSE Ha navigato controcorrente BRB Globus (etichettatrici rotative, Porto Mantovano MN) che ha deciso di esporre (per la prima volta) a Drinktec poche settimane prima dell’inizio, quando - visti i “chiari di luna” - l’orientamento era piuttosto al risparmio: di partecipazione, metri quadri, personale… insomma costi.

Data la buona affluenza di visitatori, il ragionamento fatto da Alessandro Marchini, responsabile commerciale estero e presidente della società, si è rivelato corretto: «Abbiamo pensato che, dovendo selezionare gli appuntamenti, gli end user avrebbero scelto Monaco e così abbiamo chiesto uno spazio».

La decisione di partecipare a Dinktec è risultata vincente, anche perché proprio in quelle settimane, il mercato riprendeva a muoversi: «A fine agosto abbiamo notato un cambiamento nel “sentiment” e la riapertura di progetti che a febbraio erano stati congelati. Anche perché adesso è senz’altro il momento migliore per comprare, visti gli incentivi statali di detassazione e il gran numero di costruttori “scarichi” di commesse e alla ricerca di lavoro. Quanto al portafoglio ordini, vedremo… la voglia di investire c’è ma, spesso, com’è noto, si scontra con problemi di finanziamento».

L’anno del Dragon* Più risparmio con lo stretch «Da aprile i telefoni hanno ripreso a squillare a ritmo intenso e a maggio-giugno si sono riavviati i progetti di investimento».

Mercato in ripresa, dunque, per Gianluca Ianni, sales manager di Comag (Castrocielo, FR), che aggiunge: «Dallo scorso Drinktec ad oggi abbiamo sviluppato dei progetti nuovi su cui puntiamo molto, che ci hanno impegnati anche sul piano degli investimenti. La crisi globale ci ha dunque creato qualche ansia; fortunatamente il peggio sembra passato e, soprattutto, le nostre proposte soddisfano proprio le maggior esigenze di economicità che tutti sentono, suscitando attenzione e interesse concreto».

Il manager si riferisce soprattutto ai sistemi di etichettatura con sleeve stretch, che integrano la storica offerta di manigliatrici dell’azienda laziale e la più recente e affermata serie di sistemi Decopack per cluster, anch’essi realizzati e “manigliati” con materiale estensibile.

Il motivo principale della vivace attenzione per lo stretch è di ordine economico: «Abbiamo di recente installato tre macchine per sleeve estensibili presso due impianti Pepsi-Cola in Russia, che le impiegano anche su contenitori lievemente conformati, e che hanno stimato in un buon 60% il risparmio di materiale rispetto al sistema shrink. Questi sistemi lavorano alla velocità di 50mila bottiglie/h, superando così un limite tradizionale dell’etichettatura stretch: la relativa lentezza rispetto alla linea di imbottigliamento. Inoltre, le etichette tubolari estensibili costano relativamente poco, garantiscono una buona macchinabilità e concreti vantaggi sul piano ambientale». Gli stessi benefici sostengono il sistema multipack (il già citato Decopack) che, soprattutto all’estero, non conosce flessioni; Comag ha di recente venduto nuove macchine in Grecia, Sudafrica e nell’Est Europa e persegue un ulteriore sviluppo dell’installato.

Non parliamo di concorrenti cinesi ma della nuova versione a tapparella del palettizzatore ad alta velocità, già sviluppato da Elettric 80 per il tissue e ora rivisitato per il bottling e lanciato allo scorso Drinktec. È caratterizzato da una particolare testa di presa capace di trattare anche le merci più delicate senza danni: per preparare lo strato, manipola i prodotti una sola volta e li posiziona su tapparelle mobili, sincronizzate con il/i robot di preparazione; il tutto viene trasferito al robot di palettizzazione, che muove la tapparella rilasciando così il prodotto (guidato dai compattatori regolabili posti sulla testa del robot) sul pallet.

Con Dragon si incrociano gli strati in modo da aumentare la stabilità del pallet e, al contempo, minimizzare il ricorso alle falde interstrato; si eliminano gli accumuli, si accorcia drasticamente la linea di palettizzazione, mantenendo la massima flessibilità alle alte velocità. INTEGRAZIONI DI SUCCESSO Aria di dinamismo e positività allo stand di Elettric 80 a Drinktec. «Il mercato è ripartito “alla grande” - ha affermato il presidente Enrico Grassi - e contiamo di chiudere l’esercizio con il fatturato allo stesso livello del 2008, anno in cui siamo cresciuti del 20%: siamo soddisfatti».

«Una fiera di grande successo per la nostra azienda - gli fa eco il direttore marketing Mikael Renström - premiata per aver presentato novità di rilievo e, in più, per avere allestito demo live di un sistema integrato di fine linea, interamente funzionante, che rappresenta la tecnologia di punta per il beverage».

Di particolare interesse - sottolineano in azienda - l’integrazione dei sistemi Elettric 80 con soluzioni di Bema per la fasciatura, e di System Logistics, con cui l’impresa di Viano (RE) ha instaurato un proficuo rapporto di collaborazione. «In questo modo abbiamo potuto mostrare in concreto come vengono interfacciati i singoli componenti di un fine linea complesso, e dimostrato i vantaggi del nostro approccio problem solving», aggiunge Renström. Star della mostra, il robot di palettizzazione Dragon, l’ultima versione dell’LGV Giraffe, il fasciatore robotizzato Silkworm e - sul piano dell’ospitalità - l’assai frequentato ristorante con menu italiano.

Secondo le statistiche aziendali, si sono presentati allo stand visitatori internazionali di alto profilo, con mansioni di responsabilità e ampia facoltà decisionale. L’interesse per le proposte dell’azienda emiliana è stato coronato da un nuovo contratto siglato proprio nel corso della manifestazione con il più importante produttore di messicano di birra. E il prossimo futuro? «Ci aspettiamo un 2010 intenso su molti mercati - si sbilancia Renström - anche grazie a Drinktec».

Carta per etichette “verdi” In risposta alla crescente necessità di soluzioni di imballaggio a basso impatto ambientale, a Drinktec Stora Enso (sede italiana a Vimodrone, MI) ha presentato NeoSet, carta per etichette da 70 g/m2, resistente all’umidità, che contiene un’elevata percentuale di fibre PCW (post-consumer-waste). La fiera è stata anche l’occasione per presentare l’intera produzione di carte per il labelling della multinazionale, collezionata in una raccolta completa di campioni - stampati e non - dal titolo Premium Label Papers.

Pubblicato in italiano, inglese, francese, tedesco e spagnolo, il volume comprende esempi interessanti di stampa e finitura per le più svariate applicazioni nel food & beverage, così come di etichette autoadesive e materiali metallizzati per etichettatura.

Sempre più modulare Bellissimo stand, poche macchine e molti video, grandi spazi per gli incontri e la ristorazione. Questa la formula scelta da KHS (in Italia a Pero, MI) per presenziare a Drinktec, con il motto “Competenza in Soluzioni”. Evidente l’approccio da fornitore globale della multinazionale tedesca che, infatti, con l’aiuto di tutte le società affiliate, ha forzato la comunicazione sul concetto di Life Cycle Solutions.

Le proposte in mostra, dunque, spaziavano dalla produzione delle bottiglie con tecnologia proprietaria di stampaggio per stiro soffiaggio al coating, dal riempimento ed etichettatura fino alle operazioni di fineliena. In quest’ambito figurano due delle novità lanciate a Monaco, a integrazione delle wraparound a marchio Advanced: la confezionatrice Innopack WP e l’avvolgitrice con film termoretraibile Innopack WSP. Grazie alla concezione marcatamente modulare, le macchine della serie Advanced assicurano una particolare flessibilità operativa. In funzione dei diversi prodotti e formati, infatti, possono essere dotate di moduli funzionali alle basse, medie o alte capacità produttive. Se necessario, è poi possibile sia aggiungere ulteriori moduli (ad esempio per impilare vassoi, inserire divisori ecc.), sia sostituirli nel corso del tempo.

Ideale per le industrie del beverage, ma anche per quelle alimentari e nonfood, le Advanced di nuova generazione possono lavorare con diversi tipi di contenitori - siano essi di vetro, metallo o plastica - raggiungendo una velocità di circa 100 cicli/min. Inoltre possono trattare senza problemi varie tipologie di cartone, dal kraft all’ondulato, con spessori fra 0,6 e 5 mm.

Innopack WSP, in particolare, monta un modulo appositamente sviluppato per trattare film sempre più sottili (assicura ottimi risultati con spessori fino a 35 µm e 950 mm di larghezza). Può essere dotata inoltre di un tunnel di termoretrazione “eco” che, rispetto ai modelli tradizionali, consente di ridurre del 50% i consumi energetici. Anche il cambio formato è stato ulteriormente ottimizzato: grazie a un pannello operatore elettronico, l’addetto macchina non solo sa dove è necessario intervenire con nuovi settaggi, ma anche come regolare le singole stazioni.

Tre macchine in una Da Sipa arriva una risposta - tutta italiana - all’insegna del risparmio energetico, della compattezza e della sostenibilità. L’azienda di Vittorio Veneto (TV) ha presentato infatti Sincro-Tribloc, un sistema che include soffiaggio, riempimento/tappatura e - questa è la vera novità l’etichettatura di contenitori di PET, facendone una soluzione ideale per l’inserimento in spazi ridotti. Le tre macchine che costituiscono il sistema integrato sono frutto della ricerca di aziende italiane leader nel loro settore: Sipa per la produzione dei contenitori, PE Labellers per le etichettatrici e Berchi (di recente acquisita da Sipa) per il riempimento e i sistemi di fine linea.

Sincro-Tribloc comprende quindi la soffiatrice rotativa SFR EVO di Sipa (in grado di raggiungere la elevatissima velocità di 2.200 bott/h per cavità), l’etichettatrice Roll-Adhesleeve di PE Labellers (che lavora senza colla a caldo e con un unico cilindro di taglio che evita contrasti tra lame fisse e rotanti) e una riempitrice volumetrica isobarica Berchi, estremamente affidabile e flessibile.

In fiera anche Fastlayer, sistema robotizzato per la preparazione dello strato di palettizzazione, particolarmente veloce, attrezzato con una testa in grado di trattare svariati formati e tipologie di prodotto.

Food&Beverage APPROCCIO GLOBALE «I rallentamenti più sensibili della domanda si sono registrati in area CIS e in Nordamerica ma sia l’America del Sud sia l’Asia e l’Africa hanno tenuto; in ogni caso, ora anche i mercati più “riflessivi” iniziano a manifestare nuove necessità di investimento e dunque ci aspettiamo una ripresa generalizzata degli affari». Questa - sintetizzata - la valutazione di Roberta Gualtieri, marketing manager di Sipa. L’impresa del gruppo Zoppas, di recente potenziata con l’acquisizione di Berchi (macchine e linee complete per l’imbottigliamento e l’imballaggio), si è affermata sul mercato del bottling con una forte identità di fornitore di soluzioni complete. Coerente la presentazione a Drinktec: in uno stand vasto, ben organizzato per aree di attività ed esteticamente molto curato, il gruppo trevisano (la sede è a Vittorio Veneto) ha presentato linee e singole macchine, contenitori - uno dei quali, un boccione per birra in PET da 20 e da 30 litri, realizzato in consorzio con altri produttori, ha vinto il Beverage Innovation Awards 2009 - come miglior “packaging alternativo”.

Molti gli spunti sui trend tecnologici che animano il settore del bottling, perlopiù ispirati a esigenze di maggiore economicità dei processi e salvaguardia dell’ambiente. Il più visibile riguarda l’alleggerimento dei contenitori di plastica che in Sipa ha portato a realizzare, dopo il litro da 16 grammi e il due-litri da 27, contenitori sempre più “estremi”: dal mezzo litro da 9,9 g a quello - questa l’ultima frontiera da 7 g. Complementare alla riduzione del peso, l’attenzione al riempimento hot fill addizionato di azoto, che crea la pressione “giusta”affinché, una volta raffreddata, la bottiglia non imploda.

Ma non solo. Sempre mirando al risparmio nel processo di soffiaggio, grazie al procedimento ARS (Air Recovery System) si consegue un recupero di oltre il 50% di aria che può poi essere riutilizzata all’interno dello stabilimento come aria di servizio. Adottando, invece, il sistema ARS Plus si può recuperare aria di soffiaggio ad alta pressione, che permette di ridurre la taglia del compressore fino al 35%, con relativi risparmi energetici. Per abbattere i consumi energetici, l’azienda ha inoltre rivisitato i sistemi di essiccazione: ha messo a punto Smartcoat, il primo processo ad alta capacità produttiva per la verniciatura esterna del contenitore in alternativa al plasma, che migliora la distribuzione dello strato e riduce l’impiego di coating; ha studiato un contenitore che può essere pastorizzato nello stesso tunnel usato per il vetro, che utilizza chiusure commerciali tra le quali il tappo DoubleSeal® della Bericap o il Minilok® della CSI. Food&Beverage M a t e r i a l s & M a c h i n e r y Una linea per la birra Fardellatrice a tutto risparmio Le fardellatrici serie Vega HT della Ocme (Parma) sono state riprogettate per garantire anzitutto la massima riduzione del consumo di energia (si stima un 20-25% di risparmio grazie allo speciale tunnel di retrazione e ai motori ad alta efficienza energetica), la grande accessibilità conferita dal lato operatore libero da ostacoli e dal carter di protezione a visibilità totale, e una più facile manutenzione dei maggiori componenti, dovuta a innumerevoli accorgimenti, fra cui i nastrini salita film e il trasporto nella zona avvolgifilm montati su carrelli estraibili. I visitatori del Drinktec 2009 hanno potuto esaminare la nuova configurazione plug and play, in cui il pannello elettrico è montato sulla macchina con i cavi già assemblati per un avviamento più rapido e il cambio formato completamente automatico con nastri motorizzati individualmente nella zona di selezione, a zero pressione sui contenitori (il cambio manuale rapido, tramite volantini, si effettua senza l’uso di strumenti). Il cambio formato in 5 minuti è stato dimostrato dal vivo allo stand, con macchina in funzione.

Si tratta di catene dotate ciascuna di un proprio servomotore, che regolano l’entrata e mantengono le bottiglie in fase con la velocità della macchina. Alcuni accorgimenti ad hoc consentono di movimentare anche contenitori molto instabili, per esempio bottiglie petaloidi da litro e mezzo.

La versatilità che ne deriva, hanno spiegato allo stand, permette di passare in soli cinque minuti da una configurazione “4x3” con contenitori da mezzo litro a un “3x2” da litro e mezzo. Da segnalare anche l’interfaccia operatore semplificata, con grafica intuitiva e funzioni di auto-apprendimento. La macchina lavora a 60 cicli al minuto su pista singola e può essere configurata con una, due o tre piste. Le nuove Vega HT (High Technology) affiancano la gamma consolidata di fardellatrici Vega S e Vega N, che include modelli per pacchi solo film, film + falda e film + vassoio, operative a velocità variabili tra i 30 e i 450 pacchi al minuto.

DOPO IL BUIO, LA “RIPRESINA” Bella fiera: meglio delle aspettative.

Questa, in sintesi, la valutazione su Drinktec resa nel corso della manifestazione da Emanuele Gatteschi, titolare di Ocme Srl (storico fornitore di sistemi di riempimento, imballaggio, palettizzazione e movimentazione, con sede a Parma).

Si rispecchia - commenta l’imprenditore - nel buon numero di stand molto spaziosi ma con poche macchine esposte: prenotati “largheggiando” prima della crisi, allestiti con la massima attenzione a contenere i costi durante i mesi bui di inizio anno, e ora «in fase di “ripresina”, per fortuna pieni di pubblico (che di Ocme ha pienamente apprezzato anche il punto ristoro, Ndr)» Gatteschi non minimizza l’entità della crisi, definita «il peggior momento degli ultimi vent’anni, con un’over reaction che ha portato a un blocco eccezionale degli investimenti». In compenso, è ottimista sul futuro prossimo, e prospetta una fase positiva di acquisti, tanto più numerosi quanto più a lungo saranno stati rimandati in precedenza. In concreto, Ocme prevede di chiudere il 2009 con una perdita moderata, e un 2010 pienamente positivo «e, onestamente, un piccolo “segno meno” dopo anni di crescita continua non rappresenta certo un problema insormontabile». Con un motivo di orgoglio in più: «Abbiamo fatto ricorso alla cassa integrazione solo una settimana, coinvolgendo senza eccezioni tutti i dipendenti, a prescindere dal ruolo e dal grado, onorando un principio di giustizia che ci ha guadagnato anche la solidarietà dei sindacati».

Per Ocme la fiera tedesca è stata l’occasione per presentare le fardellatrici di nuova generazione, rivisitate tenendo nel debito conto le richieste di risparmio energetico, ridotta manutenzione, rapidità dei cambi formato e - buon ultimo - flessibilità dei cambi formato.

Inoltre, l’impresa emiliana ha reso pubblici gli accordi di collaborazione con Promag (magazzini automatici), finalizzati a proporre sistemi di fine linea integrati con le navette a guida laser Auriga, e con BRB Globus (etichettatrici), con cui è stata sviluppata una nuova etichettatrice esposta in fiera.

Fra le novità presentate in fiera da Sidel, la linea completa per il confezionamento di birra si distingue per efficienza produttiva e ridotto consumo energetico. Comprende riempitrice (SF 300 LP), alimentatore tappi (Aidlin 24CR), etichettatrice (SL 90), sistema di pastorizzazione (Swing), tavolo di accumulo (AQ-HC), incassettatrice/decassettatrice (Incarobot/Decarobot) e un sistema per la preparazione degli strati di palettizzazione Axo-Smart abbinato a palettizzatore Robo-Column.

Particolari salienti: la riempitrice elettronica può essere installata in blocco con un tappatore ultra-clean, è motorizzata con servomotori. I tempi di CIP sono ridotti e consentono di minimizzare l’uso di acqua e di prodotti chimici.

L’alimentatore capsule Aidlin 24CR, caratterizzato da nuovo sistema brevettato “a cascata”, è stato progettato per lavorare ad alta velocità (1.350 capsule/min). Infine, l’etichettatrice SL 90 può lavorare sia con etichette di carta applicate con colla a freddo sia con autoadesive trasparenti.

IMPEGNO PER IL RICICLO Sidel raccoglie la sfida ambientale e aderisce a NAPCOR (National Association for PET Container Resources), che rappresenta negli Stati Uniti e in Canada la filiera dei contenitori di PET. Impegnata in campagne di informazione e di education, con l’obiettivo di incoraggiare l’impiego di materiale riciclato, da 20 anni l’associazione riunisce una cinquantina di industrie del settore che mirano alla produzione sostenibile lungo l’intero ciclo di vita del contenitore.

I motivi dell’adesione sono espressi da Luc Desoutter, responsabile Sviluppo Sostenibile corporate: far parte di NAPCOR permetterà al gruppo di intensificare gli scambi con gli altri industriali «coscienti che la dimensione ambientale del PET è poco nota e che il materiale è oggetto di una percezione falsata, ma anche che il tasso di riciclo è a tutt’oggi insufficiente e richiede dunque un impegno dedicato».

Sidel ha all’attivo oltre 30.000 macchine installate in 190 paesi, ha 5.550 dipendenti e nel 2008 ha realizzato un fatturato di 1,19 miliardi di euro.

Carichi facili, stabili e velocissimi Tosa Srl (Cossano Belbo, CN) ha presentato a drinktec 2009 un’avvolgitrice automatica ad anello rotante e a doppia bobina, che raggiunge cadenze di 150 pallet/h.

La concezione modulare della macchina dà vita a molteplici funzioni opzionali che generano valore aggiunto per l’utilizzatore. Un esempio per tutti, la possibilità di programmare dei cicli di avvolgimento con film estensibile sottoposto a un maggiore tasso di retrazione, per ottenere una cordonatura a maggior tenuta nelle zone più critiche del carico palettizzato (la cordonatura può essere totale o parziale, a seconda delle esigenze). Altra caratteristica da segnalare è il dispositivo automatico metti-angolari, che permette di conferire ulteriore consistenza al carico e di evitare, nei casi di prodotti come astucci o brick fardellati con film molto tesi, il rischio danni, anche estetici, del carico.

Anche in questo caso, comunque, il cavallo di battaglia delle macchine Tosa è il dispositivo di cambio bobina automatico modello “801” (brevettato), che permette la sostituzione della bobina di film esaurita in meno di 30 secondi. È inoltre possibile applicare un dispositivo per riavvolgere il film tra i rulli del prestiro, sulla bobina quasi esaurita; la macchina completa il ciclo di avvolgimento del pallet e la saldatura del film prima che la bobina sia esaurita, per evitare che rimanga una coda di film sul pallet. Peculiarità del cambio bobine automatico Tosa - sottolineano ancora in azienda - sono l’estrema semplicità e affidabilità nel tempo.

TRASVERSALI È MEGLIO Focus del Tosa Group è il finelinea, declinato nelle produzioni specializzate espresse dalle tre aziende che lo compongono: avvolgitrici a piattaforma, braccio o anello rotante e sistemi per la movimentazione di carichi palettizzati di Tosa Srl (Cossano Belbo, CN); reggiatrici della CMR (Gambolò, PV) e fardellatrici con film termoretraibile di MIMI (Canelli, AT). «Proprio questa diversificazione, ampia e mirata a un tempo - dichiara Serena Tosa - ha contribuito a sostenerci nei mesi difficili. Le nostre soluzioni sono infatti trasversali a tutti i settori industriali e poter operare ad ampio raggio ci ha permesso di bilanciare la caduta degli ordini, evitandoci il ricorso a misure come la cassa integrazione». Quanto all’oggi, dopo una buona fiera, la domanda sembra in ripresa.

Ink-jet per superfici assorbenti Z640 è il nuovo ink-jet Zanasi ad altissima definizione, dotato di consolle stand-alone capace e di pilotare contemporaneamente fino a due teste di stampa, per una o più linee di produzione. Le teste sono disponibili nella versione T768 con un campo di lavoro fino a 102 mm (4”) e T384 con campo di lavoro fino a 51 mm (2”), che consentono rispettivamente di stampare fino a 32 righe e fino 16 righe di caratteri alfanumerici con matrice a 7 punti.

Z640 permette di riprodurre codici a barre, date di produzione e scadenza, lotti, testi descrittivi e logotipi con inchiostri brevettati ad alto contrasto, tutto ad altissima risoluzione. Il sistema è predisposto per la stampa dei 6 principali tipi di codice a barre: 2/5 Industrial, UPC-A, CODE 39, CODE 93, EAN 13 & EAN 8, UCC/EAN-128, CODE 128, ITF (A, B, C), 2D Data Matrix.

Questa macchina è indicata per la stampa di superfici assorbenti o semi assorbenti come per esempio carta, cartone, legno e stoffa. È costituita da un computer industriale integrato nella consolle e dispone di una versione aggiornata del GIS GraphJET (Graphic Interface Software) e di un display touch-screen da 12” SVGA a colori, che permette di creare e gestire in modo estremamente semplice e intuitivo i messaggi da stampare, anche con alfabeti stranieri. In dotazione anche due dispositivi USB 2.0 e una connessione Ethernet LAN RJ45.

OLTRE LA SIEPE «Gli italiani dovrebbero imparare a guardare un po’ più in là del proprio orto: si amplia l’orizzonte di riferimento e a volte si scoprono cose interessanti». Gianni Zanasi l’ha fatto e ha visto, per esempio, che il mondo delle multinazionali mostra un interesse sempre più vivo «anche per i fornitori piccoli come noi, che siamo competitivi, disponibili, flessibili e garantiamo pronta assistenza in tutto il mondo, prima, durante e dopo l’installazione. E che hanno espresso interesse sia per la stampa dei cartoni sia per il microcarattere su astuccio: una tecnologia in grande evoluzione, sempre più richiesta anche per applicazioni di “fascia bassa”. Gelati da spremere È il gelato l’ultima frontiera dell’alimento in Cheerpack. «Si conserva nel congelatore, si leva poco prima del consumo per lasciarlo ammorbidire e si ”spreme”» spiega Elisa Roggero, general manager di Gualapack SpA (Castellazzo Bormida, AL). Grande estimatore di questa soluzione, Nestlé, che ha scelto il contenitore flessibile e richiudibile per la linea “spremibile” di gelati, associando così l’alimento a un’inedita gestualità ludica.

Cheerpack è un contenitore primario per prodotti alimentari e non, di diversa tipologia e densità, resistente alle sollecitazioni meccaniche e con elevate proprietà barriera all’ossigeno e alla luce. È disponibile con capacità da 40 a 1.500 ml, in versione stand up, con o senza cannuccia, con cerniera “zip”, bocca centrale o laterale. The figures divulged by Monacofiere are echoed by the opinions that we gathered during the show, all positive, without exceptions. Drinktec 2009, the Italian exhibitors that was at Munich from 14th to 19th September last, registered an attendance that was more than satisfactory (60,000 visitors), highly international (55% of the public was non German), representing the entire world (170 counties, aboveall China, India, the USA, South Africa, Mexico and the United Arab

is in recession and we know the dynamics of the same; the governments have intervened to support the financial system avoiding the worst; despite the difficulties most of the manufacturing concerns have “held”; today investments are starting up again. Having said this, we cannot though ignore the many factor that make the current recovery precarious and reduce the extent of the same, starting off from the fact that the financial world is back to playing old and dangerous games (that do not exclude the possibility of other “bubbles”) and that the governments have destined aid to banks and insurance without though imposing the necessary regulations. In Italy what is more one still hasn’t intervened coherently and incisively to slim down the burocracy and support both the concerns that are courageous enough to invest (with opportune measures

An outcome that was anything but certain the contradictions and delicate nature of the current economic and political situation are known to all - and, hence, relief was felt all-round. The machine and bottling solution as well as end-of-line producers in fact showed optimism. Optimism indeed, not merely a sigh of relief after having escaped danger: a more thought-out, more mature, a more keenly felt reaction.

WATCHWORD: SAVINGS ALL-ROUND

Future scenarios already clearly feature in the orientation of demand today. The big international bottlers, like the small springs starting up activity today, demand machines and technologies capable of rationalising flows (many the new concept monoblocks), save on running costs (aboveall energy costs), manage several operations and several

worthy of note the 20% lightweighting of the UHT milk bottles, that go from 28 g to 24 g)… The providers of bottling solutions and systems are absolutely aware of the market situation, as is shown by the review of products that follow these notes. And in more than one case, they also show they have understood the advantages that derive from cooperation with other concerns, perhaps regarding a single project, thus overcoming the individualism typical to the Italian national culture. Some examples for all: Ocme with Promag for end-of-line and BRB Globus for labelers; Elettric 80 with commercial partner Bema (labeling and strapping) and with the System Logistics (logistics); Sipa with PE Labeller and with the newly purchased Berchi for integrated blow-fill-label processes.

A complete wet-end bloc, comprising a Contiform S16 blow-moulding machine, a Multimodule labeler featuring two Contiroll stations and a filler for producing and volumetic VODM-PET filler foor PET containers: its name is ErgoBloc L (for “Liquid”) and it’s one of the most important novelties that Krones presented at Drinktec 2009.

The entire system has been designed for an output of 28,800 containers an hour, and can be used for both still and carbonated beverages. The goals were to ensure, in comparison with a conventional line, a lower TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), a high level of efficiency combined with an optimised material flow, an improved operator control concept and a downsized footprint. The ErgoBloc L concentrates exclusively on valuecreative functions, saves energy, and is also ideally suited for handling lightweight containers.

On the technical point of view, the basic problem involved in blocsynchronising this configuration is that stretch blow-moulding machines are not variable-speed line components: Krones had solved this conundrum with some innovatively drive technology and an intelligent control concept.

The labeling technology has also been comprehensively revamped for the ErgoBloc L, in order to reach a speed of 36,000 containers an hour, and also the closure feed with a new “cascading sorter”.

Hence, even if the general difficulties are unfortunately a reality, in the food sector some concerns have been able to make acceptable margins and we certainly don’t expect a débacle. In fact, if it is true that for two years noone has done product innovation, rather aiming at a reduction of costs in all fields containing investments - rationalising consumption and organization, reducing maintenance costs etc… - it is equally true that, for this very reason, we now see a general reawakening».

Tomba continues his analysis, also underlining the great flexibility that our productive structure, mainly made up of small and medium firms, confers on the entire Italian national economy. At the same time though, he underlines that on many levels there is no turning back: «In our sector, the market no longer demands general performance but concrete advantages. In other words, faster machines are purchased only if the speed in that given context brings direct benefits; in other situations people will rather opt for greater versatility or the simplicity of a system… We today aboveall guarantee our customers certainties: that we provide them with exactly what they need; that our solutions are reliable; that we guarantee a complete service, conscious of the fact that today the logistics area along with that of packaging are those where concrete cost reductions can be conceived of and carried out.

That is to say, the recovery will be to the tune of concreteness».

CERTAINTIES ABOVEALL «We can

This summing things up is the declaration made at the end of Drinktec by Franco Tomba, managing director of Krones Italia. That on the one hand plays down the extent of the crisis and on the other prospects what should happen shortly: “Not only has food (including beverages) held - the manager in fact points out but in this sector raw material prices

The compact single thread 28 mm necks are spreading thanks to their safety and low cost: this is the case of PCO-16,8 offered by CDS Srl Viroplastic (Piacenza) for PCO-17 necks that, while using less material, ensures a better airtightness.

This is a universal capsule, suited for bottling mineral waters and beverages, flat and carbonated soft drinks up to a max of 8.0 g/l of CO2.

It is produced via compression pressmoulding at extrusion temperatures considerably lower than injection systems, thus obtaining a notable constancy in size. A special flexible flap guarantee strop ensures its easy assembly onto the neck safety ring, giving an accurate, solid grip. The cap threading is produced in sectors to ensure safety degassing

prior to complete opening. The external profile of the thinly lined capsules (144 lines) lastly ensures a good hand grip and good visibility of any lot numbers.

But this is not the only new feature from CDS. Between the end of this year and the beginning of 2010 the Piacenza based company has in fact programmed the entering into production of a line dedicated to a new type of capsule, that can be mounted on both the mono-principle compact systems (the already mentioned PCO-17 and PCO-1881).

Denominated Euro-2, to underline this bivalence, it was given its first-timeever preview at Drinktec, being injection moulded with an external profile of 72 lines; it has a special guarantee strip with double attachment sectors making the same perfectly functional and tamper evident.

More design with glass The ceiling, made using an immense number of backlit bottles, gives one the sensation of being enveloped in glass while the plays on light suggest the thousand expressive potentials of this raw material. From here the other elements of the stand develop, comprising the portions of green which one can sit on, the scenic backdrop behind the reception - that constitutes a help- and refreshments point - and even the ambient perfumes that “furnish” the various areas of the stand, contributing to creating a space that is truly multisensorial. This the space in which O-I welcomed its visitors at Drinktec. It was designed by Francesco Lucchese - who teaches at the Milan Polytechnic and the Brera Art Academy, designer of fame and master glassworker (trained at Murano) - thinking of it as a «natural scenario, where all the elements emphasize the sustainability, salubriousness, purity and the unique benefits that glass brings to us everyday».

Thus the glassworks wished to exploit the expressive potential of a material much loved by consumers and, at the same time, field the rich range of standard and personalised bottles made ever since the company was founded in 1903, at the behest of Michael Owens who invented the procedure for producing glass bottles industrially. Today O-I has over 2,500

deposited models in its catalogue and operates at world level with 23,000 employed and 79 manufacturing sites in 21 countries, and in 2008 achieved net sales for 7.9 billion dollars.

• Continuous innovation while fully accepting the ethical responsibility of packaging producers guides the growth and development of O-I, that in Europe has built its prime outlet market serving both large and small customers in the various segments of food and beverage. Their research is aboveall committed in the development of new forms and new colors, using a specific technology that enables the production of different shades simultaneously, also in small quantities. O-I, what is more, is pioneer of the NNPB (narrow neck press and blow) technology, that enables the downgauging of containers without compromising their functionality, as well as master in embossing and the thousand decorations obtained with the use of screenprint, of the various types of finishes, sleeves and whatever else is needed to obtain a cutting edge look.

Orientation at end-of-line Acmi took part at Drinktec with a communication stand, in which it showed films covering its most recent installations. But, to present the latest technological innovations for end-ofline, called “Linea Compatta”, it organized an open house at its Fornovo Taro (PR) based works.

Within Linea Compatta, we highlight Twisterbox, an innovatory proposal for orientating packs and continuous layer formation, that the Emilia based company has created in response to the growing demand from broadscale distribution marketing for dealing with unstable packs and smallscale clusters. Twisterbox can handle any type of container (multipacks, bundles, PET or 5 l bottles, plastic crates, cardboard boxes, trays etc.).

It is positioned at the palletizer infeed actually forming a single machine that, receiving the products from the end-of-line belt, adroitly and speedily positions them and palletizes them through the use of a series of robotised pick-up grippers. Acmi recently presented the second generation, Twisterbox 2, that can be associated with all the Acmi palletisers and used in multiliner systems coupled to the Condor robot.

Change, without stopping Genesis Futura 80 (Robopac Sistemi) is a rotating ring automatic wrapping machine, with a patented external carriage prestretch motorisation device. This device enables the definition of the deposit force of the film that stabilises the product from the control panel, reaching prestretch values of up to 400% while varying this factor continuously, even during the same wrapping cycle without interruption of the same. Hourly output is extremely high, reaching 135 pallets/h.

FIRST: INVEST «This is the time to invest in manpower and to devise a management process that enables opportunities to be grasped, with an eye to the markets of the future». Alfredo Aureli, patron and president of the Aetna Group (Villa Verucchio, RN - machines and systems for end-of-line) reasons positively, despite the fact he is making an analysis of a reality that is anything but rosy (see the introduction of this article).

And states: «Over these months of crisis a significant drop has also been registered in wrapping the same as in other fields of manufacturing. All the same, I deem we will be able to “recover our lost business” rationalising the companies of the group to improve their efficiency; I started by concentrating on “lean manufacturing”, with the aid of specialised consultants. The recovery is in fact palpable but we should not drop our guard: the end of the tunnel is still not in sight and we should not hesitate to carry out those processes of reorganization that we were not courageous enough to make in times of growth».

In the Rimini based group the drop in orders has been more in automatic machines than in basic solutions. Visitors to the fair expressed a particularly live interest for the line made up of a double rotating arm (Helix HS40/2) and rotating ring Genesis Futura 80 wrapping machine capable of ensuring high production capacities.

Thanks to the high prestretch rates, enabling the quantity of film to be placed on the load to be defined at all times, these machines enable saving in film and hence reduce running costs and environmental impact.

New generations at end of line Baumer (Castelfranco Emilia, MO) is presenting its new generation of

wrap-around casepackers and heatshrink bundling machines. The basic characteristics of these machines reflect the standards of the entire output of the Emilia based concern: synchronisation of mechanical movements via servomotors; speedy format change; possibility of setting new operator panel formats; capacity for packing a quarter of the pallet and quiconce; 90° continuous infeed (and relative reduction of space, offering consequent savings on materials); completely automatic reel change without splicing, also for film, at the speed of 80 ppm (with 10 to 15 % saving in film); insertion of honeycombs from below; multifunctional conception, enabling processing with cardboard wraparounds, trays, trays + lids and film only on the same machine.

• At Drinktec in particular visitors to the Baumer stand were able to get a first hand view of the latest innovations, like the new operator panel, that via a userfriendly graphic interface enables immediate format change operations, diagnostics and productivity analysis. Alongside the same, the patented 90° feeder, that enables any product to be processed (including parallelepipeds, ovals and the most varied shapes, even particularly unstable ones) with heatshrink film or cardboard wraparounds, in extremely cramped spaces and with little cost inasmuch it enables the elimination of the separator that channels the products.

This system enables continuous production thanks to a rotating thruster that, keeping a constant speed, guides the product without applying pressure and serves more than one line.

Modular sleeving machine Sacmi Labelling (Mozzecane, VR) showed the new modular labeling machine Opera R.F.S.T. (Roll Fed Sleeve Technology) at Drinktec. The machine applies heatshrink wraparound labels starting directly from the film on reel, and uses a laser welding technology; the process is completed by one or more heatshrink stations. Opera R.F.S.T. reaches 60.000 bpm with 40 to 110 mm diameter containers and positions labels that are from 50 to 250 mm high; it can work both “full body sleeve” as well as “partial sleeve”,

orientating the label on the bottle as desired. Sacmi has also developed an extremely flexible modular version, that not only applies sleeves but also roll fed, selfadhesive and glue labels.

Opera can be integrated in CBF 10, presented at the fair as the first ultrahygienic filling monoblock directly connected upstream with the compression bottle forming machine.

CBF (Comression Blow Forming) is a particular plastic material converting process devised by Sacmi, based on the combination of the continuous extrusion of material with compression and blowing. Enabling the going from plastic granulate to the container, never mind the type of resin used, in a single work cycle using less material.

Not at the fair though, because still being patented, a new concept blowing machine. According to the first anticipations, it can produce different types of bottles on one ad hoc mould, with highly rapid format changes. Equipped with servomotors that increase its flexibility, it can be connected with the compression machine that makes the preforms: in this way they are sent directly for blowing, without passing through the oven.

SQUARE UP TO THE MARKET The Sacmi group was out in force, this year bypassing other B2B encounters to wager all on Drinktec. And the heads of the Imola based company are satisfied with the choice made, that exploited the occasion to illustrate the huge number of new developments, in view of the (confirmed) recovery in demand. Though wishing to state: «We have carefully evaluated the consistence of the news that has done the rounds in these last months - Daniela Orlandi, marketing director of Sacmi Labelling states - and we have discovered that not everything was founded on facts. For example, if it is true that bottling in Europe has suffered a lull, this was not the case in the US, where investments have even been upped, both in complete lines as well as in stand alone machines.

Rather, the competition between us suppliers has become exasperated, compelled as we are to fight a merciless price war to the exclusive advantage of the users, no longer with privileged main areas (if once there were those that mainly served the breweries and those that catered for water… today machine constructors are tendentially present in all segments of the market)».

Hence the geography of the offer changes, also due to the general tendency to concentrate: «At the end Orlandi estimates - the medium-to-large suppliers will remain, with an adequate solidity also on the financial level, capable of offering themselves as sole interlocutors to a customer who demands complete solutions, even starting off from the perform».

The trends in demand? Lines that start from pellets and end with pallets, as compact as they can be, with modular functions and that consume the least energy possible.

State-of-the-art drives Movigear® is the most recent creation of Sew-Eurodrive’s R&D in the field of drives. This drive thus represents an “intelligent” and self-managing system, which, thanks to its capacity for connecting with the rest of the installation, considerably reduces startup times and facilitates control and maintenance operations.

Opportunely connected to user functional applicational software, it performs the tasks assigned in the simplest possible way.

Technical characteristics: ultracompact design; single line installation principle (one wire suffices for transfer of information and energy); installation simplified thanks to PowerLAN technology, with signals sent through power chords; high level of protection; smooth surfaces and ventilated motor for better hygiene: less noise pollution; constant torque at a wide range of speeds; high breakaway torque; electronic braking.

MECHATRONICS AND SUSTAINABILITY «Our customers appreciate our mechatronic technology products: more sophisticated, and at times also more costly than those of the previous generation, but so much more

advantageous in terms of wiring and, most of all, energy savings, as to also make them an excellent choice for the sake of economy. What’s more, certain wastes are no longer sustainable and that now seems clear to everybody, which makes me more optimistic about the vital intelligence of the human race».

Maurizio Mojoli, director general of Sew Eurodrive in Italy (Solaro, MI), expresses with his usual wit his satisfaction in having invested in Drinktec 2009, where the multinational automation specialist presented its entire range of products (gearmotors, frequency converters, software and custom drive solutions) at an attractive stand surrounded by visitors. The manager’s optimism is also expressed in his prediction for an imminent renewal of all activities, which the fair in Munich authorizes by confirming the “hold” of the packaging sector: «where, in fact, in my opinion the radical restructuring carried out by some concerns was not always proportional to the problems faced». Indeed, Sew handled the slowdown without resorting to layoffs or social security cushions: «We improved the productivity of our personnel and, at the same time, postponed the dispensation of incentives and rewards, requested that vacations be deferred etc., and now we are ready to face the restart of the market with all necessary people and tools. If we expect any difficulties, they will be limited to the financial area, due to the risks to the solidity and soundness of our customers, and to the timeliness of deliveries if the return of orders proves livelier than expected. This is a problem which we will be glad to deal with».

Roll fed labelling machine The German show fell in an excellent period for presenting a new feature, a machine devised in cooperation with Ocme (Parma). Indeed launched at Drinktec 2009, the Mega Roll is a roll fed machine equipped with Sagitta roll fed labelling station by Ocme.

«Without the need of complex formal agreements - Marchini highlighted we sat down at a table and figured out how to work together to create a product summing their cutting, gluing and unreeling skills to our carousels and plant and system excellence».

The other new feature was a modular machine, the Mega Flex, with programmable electronic cam and speedy and immediate interchangeable modules of different labeling stations.

COURAGEOUS CHOICES BRB Globus (roto labelers, Porto Mantovano MN) has been swimming against the tide, having decided to exhibit (for the first time) at Drinktec just a few weeks before it opened, when - given these difficult times - the tendency should have been towards saving: in terms of participation, square metres, personnel… meaning costs. Given the good attendance of visitors, the approach of the foreign trade rep and president Alessandro Marchini turned out to be the right one: «We thought that, having to choose between events, the end users would have opted for Munich and thus we asked for a space».

The decision to take part at Drinktec was a success, also because in those weeks the market began moving again: «At the end of August we noticed a change in the general feel of things and the reopening of projects that had been frozen in February (also because now is without a doubt the best moment for buying: state detaxation incentives, jobless constructors out looking for work…). As far as the order books are concerned, we shall see: the will to invest is there but often, as is wellknown, one comes up against problems of funding».

More saving with stretchfilm «From April onwards the phones were ringing once more at an intense rate, and May-June the investment projects started up again». Hence for Gianluca Ianni, sales manager of Comag (Castrocielo, FR), the market is in recovery, and who adds: «We have been developing new projects ever since last Drinktec, something we are wagering a lot on, and that have also committed us on the level of investments. Indeed the global crisis caused us some anxiety, fortunately the worst seems to be over and aboveall our proposals in fact respond to the greater need for economising felt by all, hence arousing attention and concrete interest». The manager aboveall refers to the concern’s stretchfilm sleeve labeling systems, that integrate the Lazio based companies traditional offer of handle applying machines along with the more recent and successful Decopack system series for clusters, these too made and provided with handles in stretch material. The main reason for the lively attention for stretchfilm is understandably an economic one:

«We have recently installed three stretch sleeve machines at two Pepsi Cola plants in Russia, that also use them on slightly conformed containers, and that have estimated a good 60% saving on material compared to the shrink system. These systems operate at the speed of 50 thousand bottles/h, thus exceeding a traditional limit of stretch labels: the relative slowness in respect to the bottling lines. Furthermore, the stretch sleeve labels cost relatively little, present a good machinability and concrete advantages in environmental terms».

Demand for Comag’s multipack system (the already cited Decopack) is bolstered by the same benefits, aboveall seen to be unflagging outside Italy; Comag has recently sold new machines in Greece, South Africa and eastern Europe and is counting on further increasing its number of machines installed.

It features a special pick-up head capable of also handling the most delicate goods without damage to them: to prepare the layer it handles products once only and places them on the mobile slat, synchronised with the preparation robot/s; everything is transferred to the palletisation robot, that moves the slat thus releasing the product (guided by the regulatable compactors placed on the robot head) on the pallet. With Dragon the layers are interleaved in order to increase pallet stability and, at the same time, minimising any resorting to interlayers; pile-ups are eliminated, the palletisation line is dramatically shortened, keeping max flexibility at high speed.

Drinktec. «The market has got off to a great restart - president Enrico Grassi asserted - and we reckon we will close the financial year with a turnover on a par with 2008, year in which we grew by 20%: we are satisfied».

«A highly successful fair for our company - marketing director Mikael Renström echoes - rewarded for having presented key new features and on top of that of having set up live demos of a fully functioning integrated end-of-line system that features as cutting edge technology for beverage».

Of particular interest the integration of Elettric 80 systems with Bema wrapping solutions, and with System Logistics, with which the Viano (RE) based company has struck up a burgeoning partnership. «In this way we have managed to show how the single components of a complex end-of-line are interfaced, and demonstrated the advantages of our problem solving approach» Renström adds. Stars of the show, the palletisation robot Dragon, the latest version of the Giraffe LGV, the robotised wrapper Silkworm and - in terms of hospitality - the much attended

restaurant with Italian menu.

According to company statistics, high profile international visitors presented themselves at the stand, executives with responsibility and decisional faculties.

The interest for the proposals of the Emilia based concern were crowned by a new contract signed during the show with the most important Mexican beer producer.

And the coming future? «We expect an intense 2010 on many markets Renström ventures - Also thanks to Drinktec”.

Paper for “green” labels In response to the growing interest for low environmental impact packaging machines, at Drinktec Stora Enso (Italian branch at Vimodrone, MI) presented NeoSet, a 70 g/m2 wet strength label paper, that contains a high percentage of PCW (postconsumer-waste) fibres. The show also constituted the occasion for presenting the multinational’s entire label paper product offering, in a complete collection of samples printed and unprinted - entitled

Food&Beverage M a t e r i a l s & M a c h i n e r y Premium Label Papers. Published in English, German, Italian, French and Spanish, the volume includes interesting examples of prints and finishes for a whole host of food & beverage applications, as well as for pressure-sensitive and metalized labeling materials.

Evermore modular Wonderful stand, few machines and lots of videos, large spaces for encounter and refreshment. Faithful to their company motto “Competence in Solutions” this was the formula KHS (Italian headquarters at Pero, MI) chose for their presence at Drinktec.

Evident the German multinational’s approach as global supplier that in fact, with the aid of all its affiliated companies, has forced its communication onto the concept of Life Cycle Solutions.

The proposals on show ranged from bottle production with proprietory stretch-blow pressmould technology to coating, from filling and labeling up to end-of-line operations. Two of novelties launched at Munich featured

in this field, integrating the Advanced brand wrap-around machines: the Innopack WP wrap-around packer and the Innopack WSP wrap-around shrink packer. Thanks to their markedly modular conception the machines of the Advanced series ensure a special operational flexibility.

Depending on the various products and formats in fact they can be fitted with low, medium or high production capability functional modules. If needed further modules can also be added (for example to stack trays, insert separators etc.) or replaced at a later date. Ideal for the beverage industry, but also for food and nonfood, the new generation of Advanced machines can work with different types of containers - be these in glass metal or plastic - reaching a speed of around 100 cycles/min. As well as that they can successfully process various types of board, from kraft to corrugate, with thicknesses that go from 0.6 to 5 mm.

The Innopack WSP in particular also features a module especially developed for treating ever thinner

film (it ensures excellent results with film thicknesses of up to 35 µm and 950 mm width). It can also be equipped with an “eco” shrink tunnel that, compared to traditional models, enables a 50% reduction in energy consumption. The format change has also been further optimised: thanks to an electronic operator panel, not only does the machine operator know where the further settings have to be made but also how to adjust each station.

Three machines in one From Sipa comes an all-Italian solution featuring energy conservation, compactness and sustainability. Indeed, the Vittorio Veneto (TV) concern has presented Sincro-Tribloc, an innovative system that includes blowing, filling/capping and - this is the true novelty - labeling of PET containers. Thanks to the integration of thee machines in one, it represents the ideal solution when installation space is limited.

The machines that make up the integrated system are the results of

research by Italian concerns at the top of their sector: SIPA for container production, PE Labellers for the labels and Berchi (recently acquired by Sipa) for filling and end of line systems.

Sincro-Tribloc includes Sipa’s SFR EVO rotary blower (able to reach the very high speed of 2,200 bott/h per cavity), PE Labellers’ Roll-Adhesleeve labeler (which operates without using hot glue and with a single cutting cylinder that avoids contrasts between fixed and rotating blades) and an extremely reliable and flexible Berchi isobaric volumetric filling machine.

The fair also witnessed Fastrayer, a robotised system for preparing the palletisation layer, particularly speedy and flexible, through which one head can deal with various different product formats and types.

GLOBAL APPROACH «The slowdown has been most felt in the CIS area and in North America, while South America as well as Asia and Africa have held; at any rate, now even the most adversely

affected markets are beginning to show new needs for investment and hence we expect a generalised recovery of business».

This - summed up - is the evaluation made by Roberta Gualtieri, marketing manager of Sipa. The company, part of the Zoppas group, recently empowered with the purchase of Berchi (machines and complete lines for bottling and packaging), has won a place for itself on the bottling market with a strong identity of complete solution supplier. Coherent the presentation at Drinktec: in a vast stand, well organized per areas of activity with an appealing design, the Treviso based group (headquarters in Vittorio Veneto) presented lines and single machines, containers - one type, a 20 and 30 litre PET container for beer, made in consortium with other producers, having won the Beverage Innovation Awards 2009 - as best “alternative packaging”. The bottling sector shows many features inspired by prevailing technological trends, mostly responding to the need for greater economising of processes and safeguarding the environment. The most visible involve the lightening (or “downgauging”) of plastic containers that Sipa has brought about, after the 16 gram litre container and the two litre one weighing 27 grams, containers that are evermore “extreme”: the 0.5 l weighing 9.9 g - and the latest frontier - 7 g.

Complementary to the reduction in weight, one has the attention to hot fill with added nitrogen, that creates the “right” pressure so that once cooled down, the bottle does not implode.

But not only that. As ever aiming at savings in the blow process, thanks to the ARS (Air Recovery System) over 50% of the air is recovered that can be reused within the works as service air. In turn adopting the ARS Plus system high pressure blowing air can be recovered, that enables the compressor size to be reduced up to 35%, with relative energy saving. The company has also revamped the curing system to cut energy costs; it has devised Smartcoat, the first high capacity production process for the external coating of the container, in alternative to plasma, that improves the distribution of the layer and rationalises coating operations; the company has also devised a container that can be pasteurised in the same tunnel used for the glass, that uses commercial closures including the DoubleSeal® cap by Bericap or Minilok® by CSI.

Bundling machine for economising Parma based Ocme’s Vega HT series of shrink-wrap packers have been redesigned to aboveall enable a max. reduction in energy consumption (that is estimated at around 20-25% saving thanks to the special shrink tunnel and the high energy efficiency motors), offering full accessibility to the operator side now free from obstacles, a well as the full vision safety guards, an easier maintenance of the major components - thanks to numerous solutions, belts in the film feed ramp and in the film wrapping section mounted on extractable trolleys.

Visitors to Drinktec 2009 were able to examine the new plug and play configuration, in which the electric panel is mounted on top of the machine with already connected cables for a speedier start-up, and the completely automatic format change with belts motorised individually in the selection area, with zero pressure on containers (comprising speedy tool-free manual change using flywheels). The 5 minute format change was demonstrated “live” on the stand on perfectly functioning machines.

Infeed is regulated and the bottles kept in phase with the machine speed by servomotors on each belt. Special devices enable the transfer of even highly unstable containers, for example petaloid litre-and-a-half bottles.

The versatility that the system offers, they explained at the stand, enables one to go in only five minutes from a “4x3” half litre to a “3x2” litre-and-ahalf container configuration. We also cite the simplified operator interface, with intuitive graphics and selflearning facility. The machine operates at 60 cycles a minute on a single lane and can be configured with one, two or three lanes.

The new Vega HT (High Technology) go to join the consolidated Vega S and Vega N range, that include models for film only, film + layer and film + tray packs, that operate at speeds variable between 30 and 450 packs a minute.

AFTER THE GLOOM, THE MINI RECOVERY - A fine fair: better than expected. This, summing up, is the rating of Drinktec made during the show

Srl (the traditional supplier of filling, packaging, palletising and handling systems headquartered in Parma). A show reflected - the entrepreneur comments - in the recurrence of spacious stands with few machines on them: generously booked before the crisis and set up with the maximum eye to costs during the gloomy months at the beginning of the year - «and now, in the phase of the mini recovery, full of visitors (who also fully appreciated Ocmes refreshments stand Ed.)».

Gatteschi does not minimize the scale of the crisis, defined «the worst moment in the last twenty years, with an over reaction that has led to an exceptional blockage of investments». Against this he is optimistic as to the coming future, that prospects a positive phase of purchases, that should be all the stronger the more they were held off in preceding times.

Basically the people at Ocme predict they will close 2009 at a moderate loss, and with a 2010 fully positive, «and honestly, a small “minus sign” after years of continuous growth does not certainly stand as an insurmountable problem».

With a further reason for pride: «We only resorted to state subsidised employment for a week, involving all employees without exceptions, never mind their role or post, honouring a principle of justice and solidarity that also won us the solidarity of the unions». For Ocme the German fair offered a chance to present their latest generation bundling machines, revamped duly considering the demands for energy saving, low maintenance, the rapidity of format change and - last but not least - format change flexibility. As well as that, the Emilia based enterprise has also made public its coworking agreements with Promag (automatic warehouses), with the end of offering integrated end-of-line systems comprising the Auriga laser guided shuttles, and with BRB Globus (labelers), involving a jointly created labeling machine presented the fair.

A line for beer Among the new features presented at the fair by Sidel, their complete line for packaging beer stands out for production efficiency and reduced energy consumption. It comprises the SF 200 LP filling machine, Aidlin 24CR cap feeder, SL 90 labeler, Swing pasteurization system, AQ-HC accumulation bench, Incarobot/Decarobot

crating/decrating machine and AxoSmart system for preparing the palletised layers combined with the Robo-Column palletiser.

Salient features: the electronic filling machine can be installed en bloc with an ultra-clean capping machine, being motorized with servomotors.

The CIP times are short and enable the minimisation of the use of water and chemical products.

The Aidlin 24CR capsule feeder, featuring a new patented “cascade” system, has been designed to work at high speed (1,350 capsules/min).

Lastly, the SL 90 labeler can operate both with paper labels applied with cold glue as well as transparent pressure sensitive labels.

Easy, stable and speedy loads At Drinktec 2009 Tosa Srl (Cossano Belbo, CN) presented an automatic double reel rotating ring wrapping machine that reaches rates of 150 pallets/h. The machine’s modular conception gives rise to many optional functions that generate added value for the user. An example for all, the facility of programming the wrap cycles with stretchfilm subjected to a greater shrink rate, to enable a more resistant creasing in the more critical areas of the palletised load (the creasing may be total or partial, depending on the demands).

Another characteristic worthy of note is the automatic corner placer, that enables a further solidity of the load and to avoid, in the event of products such as cases or bricks bundled together with highly stretched film, the risk of damage, including aesthetic damage to the load.

In this case too at any rate Tosa’s piece de resistance is its patented automatic model “801” reel change device, that enables the replacement of the empty reel in less than 20 seconds. A device for rewinding the film between the prestretch rollers onto the nearly empty reel can also be applied; the machine completes the pallet wrap cycle and the welding of the film prior to the reel running out, to avoid a film tail forming on the pallet.

Tosa underlines the extreme simplicity and reliability in time of its automatic reel change device.

TRANSVERSAL IS BETTER - The Tosa Group focuses on end-of-line, declined in the specialised output of the

three companies that go to make up the same: rotating platform, arm or ring wrapping machines for handling palletised loads at Tosa Srl (Cossano Belbo, CN); strapping machines at CMR (Gambolò, PV); bundling machines using heatshrink film at MIMI (Canelli, AT).

«This very diversification, broad yet targeted at the same time - declared Serena Tosa - has without a doubt contributed to supporting us during the recent bleak months. Our solutions are transversal to all industrial sectors; our ability to operate across a broad spectrum has enabled us to balance off the fall in orders, and for this reason too, to avoid measures such as redundancies». As for today, after a good fair, demand seems to be recovering.

Inkjet for absorbent surfaces Z640 is the new high definition Zanasi inkjet, that comes with standalone consol capable of concurrently piloting up to two printheads for one or more production lines. The heads are available in the T768 version with work field up to 102 mm (4”) and T384 with work field up to 51 mm (2”), that respectively enable printing up to 32 lines and up to 16 lines of alphanumerical characters with 7 dot matrix.

Z640 enables the reproduction of barcodes, production and bestbefore dates, lots, descriptive wording and logotypes with high contrast patented inks, all at high resolution. The system is set for printing the 6 main types of barcode: 2/5 Industrial, UPC-A, CODE 39, CODE 93, EAN 13 & EAN 8, UCC/EAN-128, CODE 128, ITF (A, B, C), 2D Data Matrix.

This machine is recommended for printing on absorbent or semiabsorbent surfaces such as for example paper, board, wood and fabric.

It comprises an industrial computer integrated in the consol and comes with an updated version of GIS GraphJET (Graphic Interface Software) and a 12” SVGA color touchscreen display, that enables the simple and intuitive creation and management of messages to be printed, even with foreign alphabets.

The system also comes with two USB 2.0 devices and an Ethernet LAN RJ45 connection.

BEYOND THE HEDGE - «The Italians should learn to gaze a bit more beyond their own market garden: you extend your horizon and at times you discover interesting things». Gianni Zanasi did so and for example saw that the world of multinationals is showing an ever livelier interest «also in small suppliers like us, noticing that we are competitive, available, flexible and that we guarantee ready assistance throughout the world, before, during and after installation.

And aboveall we are used to listening, to understanding what each user might need in order to improve their output and create ad hoc solutions».

The first Drinktec attended by Zanasi Srl (Sassulo, MO), known producer of inkjet printers, has confirmed the interest from companies of all sizes and for all types of proposals: from the super performant top end to the simplest for starting-up activities.

As well as that, «At Munich we met operators that only visit these fairs the entrepreneur comments - aboveall from Europe and Asia. And that expressed interest both for printing packing cases as well as microcharacters on cartons: a technology that is evolving greatly, also now evermore in demand for low end applications.

And not only on cardboard. But we shall speak of that again a few months on…».

Sealing plastic bags in tins or boxes Cibra (Cernusco sul Naviglio, MI) presents the IND sealer, fitted on a structure that allows to seal heavy duty bags in any situation. IND is particularly suitable for the food, chemical and pharmaceutical industries, as it can seal bulky or heavy bags, even placed inside tins or boxes, with a double ribbon impulse seal. The bags can be made of polyethylene with or without gussets, coextruded or or light multilayer films, with maximum width of 100 or 130 cm. The trolley feeder allows to bring the sealing unit where needed, thus avoiding moving the bags. The vertical support enables raising, lowering and turning the sealing pincers in the most convenient way, and to use them under a filling station. When the sealer is not in use, the pincers can be removed from their support and leaned on the trolley to reduce bulk. Thanks to its impulse functioning, the pincers are always cold and can be easily handled.

Produced as Antilux, Omnipack, Copack, Polikem and Chemipack and constructed on plastic film, paper, canvas, polyester, PP or nylon mediums, with or without aluminium foil inbetween, these products are used for sea consignments to eliminate the risk of damage due to oxidisation as a result of prolonged storage in the ports or in particularly cold or tropical countries. Supplied on reels or in jackets made to measure of any shape or size, they guarantee impermeability to moisture and impenetrability to light, resistance to tearing and pulling, to temperatures and UV rays, perfect tightness and protection lasting many years. refrigerated units of research centres - to monitor the best before date, see to restocking and control of invoicing. Thanks to the Aton system, when an employee picks up a product, he or she passes through a gateway with tag reader that traces the operation and automatically sends the necessary data for invoicing and restocking to EuroClone. OnID hence operates on products already coded with tags, via an RFId gate comprising a reader and 4 antennas, complete with 2 photocels that capture the entry and exit of the goods and that enable the activation of the reader as the product passes through; the readings are transmitted to the Euroclone systems via ftp. Thanks to the functional block architecture that features on the Aton Mobility Platform, onID hence constitutes a solution capable of performing all the system management and control functions, along with the integration and coordination of the various information sources.

Coinvolge direttamente il consumatore, che può controllare l’autenticità della merce acquistata tramite un semplice SMS, e apre inedite possibilità di rapporto B2C. E.P.

IDENTIFICAZIONE UNIVOCA ratteristiche è ingegnosa e, al tempo stesso, apre un inedito canale di comunicazione fra produttori e consumatori, che potrebbe veicolare non solo messaggi relativi all’autenticità dei beni, ma anche offerte e promozioni, servizi e quant’altro vorrà suggerire la fantasia dei marketer.

mmaginate la scena: una signora elegante acquista, in una boutique del centro, una costosissima borsa griffata. Poi, si siede al tavolino di un bar e aspetta l’amica a cui mostrare il prezioso oggetto. Un po’ per gioco, un po’ per ingannare il tempo, toglie il rivestimento che nasconde una parte dell’etichetta e trasmette, al numero di telefono indicato, il codice riportato sotto. Il “bip” con il messaggio di risposta arriva pochi istanti dopo, e la signora lancia un grido: «Mi hanno imbrogliata! Che vergogna…. mi hanno venduto un falso! Ah, ma adesso mi sentono…» (segue bagarre).

Univocal identification Imagine the scene: an elegant lady buys a costly designer label handbag in a city centre boutique.

Then she sits down at a bar and waits for a friend to show the precious object to. A bit out of fun, and a bit in order to while away the time, she removes the coating that hides part of the label and transmits the serial number printed underneath to the phone number indicated. A “bleep” with the answer message arrives a few seconds after, and the

lady utters a cry: «I’ve been ripped off! Shame on them… they have sold me a fake! But now they will hear from me…» (a row ensues).

We have invented a situation that from today onwards can become reality.

During an international press conference held at Labelexpo Europe (Brussels, 23rd-26th September 2009), Federico d’Annunzio, already known in the sector as head of Nuova Gidue and

This is the name of an anticounterfeit system that as its name suggests, univocally identifies a given goods item (that and only “that” item of clothing, cognac, perfume, pharmaceutical product, document, DVD, credit card etc.) and, aboveall it is a system that cannot be forged. The technology that ensures these features is ingenious and, at the same time opens up an unprecedented channel of communication between producers and consumers, that might not only convey a message

acknowledging the authenticity of the goods items, but also offers and promotions, services and whatever else the marketer fancies.

EASY TO VERIFY Dacom (Cornaredo, MI) has devised and patented the project, Ritrama (Caponago, MI) designed the new ad hoc substrate, Prati (Marradi, FI) contributed with Jupiter TC280 that checks the labels via video inspection with Nikka, that scans and captures the univocal data, stores and “secretizes” the same, carrying out the counting and rewinding and last but not least - Etipack (Cinisello Balsamo, MI) supplied the labeler that applies the univocal label and “activates” the Data Matrix code.

UN’IMPRONTA DIGITALE UnivocalSign assegna, dunque, ai prodotti “un’impronta digitale” unica, univoca e non duplicabile. Alla base di tanta sicurezza troviamo un’etichetta prodotta utilizzando uno speciale supporto autoadesivo, sulla cui superficie sono distribuite, in maniera del tutto casuale (ogni volta diverse per numero, orientamento e disposizione, non riproducibile neppure in Dacom) alcune particelle esagonali rilevabili al tatto. Su questo stesso materiale, accoppiato a una carta bianca, viene poi stampato un Data Matrix corredato di codice alfanumerico, che resta associato al “disegno” generato dalle particelle in rilievo e costituisce, dun-

At the basis of all this secrecy we find a label produced using a special selfadhesive substrate, over the surface of which some hexagonal particles that can be sensed by touch are distributed completely randomly (always different in terms of number, orientation and layout, and that are non reproducible even by Dacom).

The code of each label is sent and stored in a server, that is only activated the moment the code is applied to the product. After the purchase, the consumer is able to check the originality and authenticity of the product by removing the secretization label of the particles and touching the relief surface; as further proof, as we have seen, the consumer can verify (via SMS, MMS or email) in real time the serial number or the image of the selfsame

code with the data memorized in the server.

THE ROLE OF THE MACHINE As well as Dacom, that conceived of and that owns the system, and Ritrama, that provided the materials for the label, the good running of the tooling-up process is guaranteed by Prati and Etipack. The Jupiter control table of the Tuscan company prints the Data Matrix code (continuous inkjet, D.O.D. or with thermal printing) and subsequently, using a 100% Nikka video inspection system, checks the label containing the unique pattern. Hence it associates the univocal datum with the Data Matrix code, stores the relative combination and secretizes the univocal sign, concluding the

Etipack hence has provided a “kit” made up of a labeling machine (chosen in function of the type of application demanded), a software and a viewing system, that are for applying the secretization label on the particles in relief and, aboveall, to capture and transfer the codes present on the UnivocalSign label to the centralized database. Da questo momento in poi ciascun prodotto reca un’impronta digitale ed è identificato in maniera univoca.

A Labelexpo Etipack ha portato un’etichettatrice modello Pharmasafe che, oltre ad applicare l’etichetta UnivocalSign, applica sigilli anticontraffazione sui lembi di astucci farmaceutici formati, a garanzia dell’integrità delle confezioni. La macchina è anche dotata di protezioni anti-infortunistiche che arrestano il funzionamento in caso di apertura accidentale ed è, inoltre, interamente accessibile dal lato operatore per la massima facilità di intervento. Un PC industriale ne agevola la programmazione, l’interfacciamento con altre applicazioni e l’implementazione di software.

Etipack brought a Pharmasafe model label to Labelexpo that as well as applying UnivocalSign labels, applies anticounterfeit seals to the flaps of formed pharmaceutical cases, and guarantees the integrity of the pack. The machine also has accident prevention protection that stops the machine running in the event of accidental opening and that is also entirely accessible from the operator side of the machine for max ease of intervention. An industrial PC facilitates the programming, interfacing with other applications and software implementations.

MOLTE FUNZIONI PREZIOSE La caratteristica più evidente di UnivocalSign è la capacità di creare un filo diretto con il consumatore che, oltre a garantire l’originalità di un manufatto, può assicurare la tracciabilità di eventuali prodotti rubati e poi reimmessi sul mercato, oppure commercializzati in un mercato/ canale diverso da quello a cui sono stati destinati.

Garantisce così un beneficio al grande pubblico ma anche ai produttori, che possono risalire all’origine della frode e bloccare la diffusione del prodotto contraffatto, oltre che al punto vendita, in grado di proporsi sia al fornitore sia al cliente finale come interlocutore di fiducia e garante di qualità.

Accanto a queste funzioni, “intrinseche” al progetto, se ne scorge una, prettamente comunicativa, che sembra promettente. Come ha suggerito lo stesso D’Annunzio alla fine della conferenza di Bruxelles, la fantasia dei brand owner saprà suggerire nuovi modi per parlare direttamente al singolo consumatore che attiva il canale UnivocalSign, offrendo un’occasione di relazione diretta e interattiva one-to-one.

Facile immaginare la comunicazione di offerte dedicate, inviti, promozioni ed eventi, ma anche - nelle modalità che la natura stessa del mezzo potrà suggerire - informazioni e notizie, musica e immagini e tutto quanto può essere utile a coinvolgere il singolo consumatore nel mondo della marca.

MANY PRECIOUS FUNCTIONS The most evident characteristic of UnivocalSign is its capacity to create a direct line with the consumer that, as well as guaranteeing the originality of the item, can ensure the traceability of any stolen products placed back on the market or traded in a market/channel different to that for which they have been destined.

One can easily imagine the communication of dedicated offers, invitations, promotions and events but also - in the mode that the nature itself of the means might suggest information and news, music and images and everything that can be useful to involving the single ■ consumer of the brand.

Progettata e costruita da FCL, rappresenta una soluzione flessibile per realizzare sleeve (complete o parziali) e sigilli di garanzia, assicurando rapidi cambi formato. Può trattare contenitori circolari, ovali e quadrati con velocità fino a 300 contenitori/min. in funzione dell’altezza della sleeve. Può applicare diversi tipi di materiale (PVC, PET, OPS o PLA) di spessore da 40 a 70 micron, su contenitori sia pieni che vuoti, di varie forme e tipologie (plastica, vetro o metallo).

Per la retrazione su recipienti chiusi è disponibile un tunnel a vapore, in acciaio inox, in linea con le normative PED e dotato di: celle regolabili, ugelli di iniezione vapore, display digitale per la temperatura, valvole apertura e chiusura pressione, aspiratore vapore, valvole e manometri.

Macrocaratteri ad alta definizione Markem-Imaje propone una soluzione innovativa per la stampa nitida di testi, grafici e codici a barre GS1 compatibili su cartoni, vassoi e film d’imballaggio. Si tratta del nuovo marcatore a getto d’inchiostro per macrocaratteri ad alta risoluzione 5800, che utilizza la tecnologia a base di resina termoplastica TouchDry®. Ideale per applicazioni di stampa su cartone ondulato, è compatto, modulare e risulta facilmente integrabile sulle linee di confezionamento esistenti, sulle formatrici di cartoni o nastratrici.

L’inchiostro utilizzato, eco-compatibile, senza solventi e ad essiccazione istantanea, non è soggetto a sbavature o scolorimenti. La tecnologia Markem-Imaje che impiega inchiostri TouchDry® consente di stampare su diversi substrati, in differenti condizioni ambientali, da 0 a 40 °C, a velocità che raggiungono i 182 m/min.

Rispetto alla serie 5000, il modello 5800 introduce alcune novità che interessano la forma e le prestazioni dell’apparecchiatura: ingombro più ridotto, interfaccia utente di nuova generazione, maggiore facilità di utilizzo, funzionalità di integrazione e minore consumo di energia.

Il 5800 può funzionare sia in modalità stand-alone sia completamente integrato utilizzando il software Markem-Imaje CoLOS® Entreprise. È dotato di interfacce utente intuitive basate su icone, ed è facile da usare (la connessione USB semplifica, tra l’altro, la trasmissione di file di dati).

Marcatura laser al servizio dell’etichetta Matec Srl, attiva nel settore della marcatura e codifica industriale, propone una gamma completa di apparecchiature, prodotti e servizi per l’apposizione di segnali d’identificazione e la loro lettura. Le tecnologie impiegate da Matec comprendono etichettatura automatica, marcatura laser, sistemi di visione artificiale e avanzamento della produzione.

Integrando i sistemi laser Scanmatec 3V con i sistemi automatici di movimentazione delle targhette e di avanzamento delle etichette, Matec ha messo a punto un sistema di codifica innovativo al servizio dell’automazione di fabbrica e dell’identificazione dei prodotti. Automatic sleeving machine FCL Engineering (Fontanella, BG) proposes machines for labeling, sleeving, filling and capping.

The Fast sleeving machine, thanks to its modular structure, can be configured for any use. Designed and built by FCL it stands as a flexible solution for creating sleeves (complete or partial) and guarantee seals, ensuring rapid format changes. It can treat circular, oval and square containers at speeds up to 300 containers/min, depending on the height of the sleeve. It can apply different types of materials (PVC, PET, OPS or PLA) 40 to 70 microns thick, on both full and empty containers, of various forms and types (plastic, glass or metal).

For heatshrink of closed containers a steam tunnel is available in stainless steel, in line with the PED standards and fitted with:

High definition large characters Markem-Imaje proposes an innovative solution for clear printing of GS1 compatible barcodes, texts and graphics on cartons, trays and packaging films. It’s a new 5800 high resolution inkjet marker for large characters that uses TouchDry® thermoplastic resin-based technology. Suitable for printing applications on corrugated cardboard, it is compact, modular and proves to be easy to integrate on existing packaging lines, on case formers or taping machines.

The ink used is eco-compatible, with no solvents, dries

instantaneously and is not subject to smudges or fading. The Markem-Imaje technology which employs TouchDry® inks enables printing on diverse substrates, with various environmental conditions, from 0 to 40 °C, at speeds that reach 182 m/min.

Compared to the 5000 series, the 5800 introduces a few new features related to the shape and functionality of the structure: reduced bulk, latest generation user interface, greater ease of use, integration functionality and lower energy consumption.

The 5800 can work in stand alone mode or completely integrated using Markem-Imaje Entreprise CoLOS® software. It is equipped with intuitive, icon-based user interfaces, and is easy to use (what’s more, the USB connection simplifies transmission of data files).

Laser marking at the service of the label Matec Srl, that operates in marking and industrial coding, offers a complete range of equipment, products and services for attaching ID signs and reading the same. The technology used by Matec comprises automatic labeling, laser marking, artificial viewing systems, product procedure control systems.

• The laser Scanmatec marking system enables indelible printing on plastic and metal supports.

Integrating the Scanmatec 3V laser system with the tag automatic handling and label feeding systems, Matec has devised an innovatory coding system serving factory automation and product identification. The development of the two parallel systems with similar technology, but differing in terms of the products to be handled, enables the use in any production concern.

• HD Flexo, lanciata a inizio 2009, integra ottica a 4000 dpi e una tecnologia di retinatura estremamente affidabile in grado di assicurare un’elevata qualità di stampa flessografica in modo estremamente semplice.

• Della famiglia CDI ricordiamo due modelli. CDI Spark 1712 è un’unità di esposizione per pellicole e lastre flessografiche competitiva e di piccole dimensioni, creata specificamente per gli stampatori di etichette a banda stretta.

FLEXO DIGITAL - EskoArtwork proposes some solutions in the digital flexographic printing sector.

• HD Flexo, launched in early 2009, integrates 4000 dpi optics and an extremely reliable screening technology capable of ensuring extraordinary flexographic print quality in a very straightforward manner.

• Of the CDI family, two models in particular are worth mentioning. CDI Spark 1712 is a convenient flexo plate and film imager of small dimensions, created specifically for narrow web label printers. CDI Spark 2530 is suitable for manufacturers of carton labels and packaging, as well as producers of flexographic plates in small volumes.

For a better warehouse management Founded in 1987 in Pittsburgh (USA), Vocollect has contributed to the change in the mode of working in warehouse facilities. Thanks to the Vocollect Voice technology, widespread over the six continents in fact, operators can exchange information with warehouse facility management system, dialoguing by voice in their own mothertongue.

What with a drastic reduction of human errors, the system enables a considerable improvement in the quality of operations. To this one can add a significant increase in productivity, that derives from the contemporary nature of the information exchanged with the IT system and the performing of the activity in itself. Another important benefit derives from the greater safety at work: the operators, being able to work with hands and eyes free, are hence protected from the most common accidents.

I benefici di ordine economico e ambientale che derivano dal ricorso al pallet pooling nella catena di fornitura.

Alcuni esempi da Chep. hep (sede italiana a Milano), nota a livello mondiale per i servizi di pooling di pallet e contenitori, si avvale di uno stock di oltre 300 milioni fra pallet e contenitori appunto. Le sue soluzioni consentono di ridurre i danni alle merci durante il trasporto e di contenere i costi della supply chain. La dimostrazione in due casi emblematici.

Più efficienza - Univeg Trade Italia, che commercializza ed esporta frutta e verdura, ha scelto i pallet blu 800x1200 mm forniti da Chep per le spedizioni all’estero. In questo modo, l’azienda ha ridotto sia la complessità delle operazioni di trasporto - avvalendosi della rete internazionale Chep - sia eventuali danni ai prodotti, in virtù della robustezza delle attrezzature. Inoltre, come commenta Roldano Calzolari, managing director di Univeg Import Italia «grazie al ricorso al pooling, è stata evitata l’emissione di 426 t di CO2 nell’atmosfera, grazie all’effetto di assorbimento del carbonio e al positivo impatto sul trasporto».

The economic and environmental benefits deriving from the use of pallet pooling in the supply chain. Some examples from Chep.

Sustainable logistics Chep (Italian headquarters in Milan), known at world level for its pallet and container pooling service, avails itself of a stock of over 300 million pallets and containers. Chep’s solutions, as well as offering their customers added value, enable a reduction both of damage to goods during transport and costs of the sypply chain. Here are two practical cases.

More efficiency - Univeg Trade Italia, Italian company leader in the marketing and export of fruit and vegetable, has chosen the 800x1200 blue pallets supplied by Chep to send its products abroad. Univeg will thus be able to reduce both the complexity of its transportation

operations, thanks to the international Chep network as well as the damage to the produce (given the sturdiness of Chep’s products).

Meno costi - Un esempio di riduzione dei costi della supply chain è offerto dalla collaborazione avviata da Chep con la spagnola DinoSol (grande società di distribuzione di beni alimentari), per cui l’azienda ha organizzato una serie di procedure operative standard allo scopo di regolare la gestione dei pallet presso i 450 punti vendita e centri di smistamento DinoSol dislocati su tutto il territorio iberico.

«In particolare - racconta Fernando Caballero, logistics director di DinoSol abbiamo incrementato le misure di controllo e ridotto il numero di pallet Chep extra circuito. Inoltre, abbiamo introdotto il sistema Chep Portfolio CATTM, uno strumento web utile per la gestione e il controllo dei pallet che riceviamo dai nostri fornitori. Grazie ad alcune azioni correttive, ora possiamo verificare on-line il numero di pallet che i nostri fornitori dichiarano a Chep, confrontandolo con la quantità da noi ricevuta».

L’efficienza va a favore di tutti: «Quanto emerge dall’attuale bilancio di pallet DinoSol - commenta Ignacio Simonet, responsabile della divisione Retail Management di Chep Iberia - è in linea con le nostre registrazioni. Siamo infatti prossimi a recuperare il 100% dei pallet spediti a DinoSol, un traguardo davvero significativo. Senza contare il fatto che abbiamo evitato i problemi associati al riutilizzo inappropriato dei pal■ let blu Chep».

Less costs - An example of the reduction of costs of the supply chain is offered by the cooperation started up by Chep with DinoSol (one of the main Spanish retailers) for which the company has organized a series of standard operative procedures to the purpose of regulating the management of pallets at the 450 DinoSol salespoints and distributions centres throughout Spain.

«In particular - DinoSol logistics head Fernando Caballero tells us we have increased control measures and reduced the number

of Chep pallets outside the circuit.

As well as that we have introduced the Chep Portfolio CATTM system, a webtool sued for the administration and the control of the pallets that we receive from our suppliers. Thanks to some corrective actions, we can now verify online the number of pallets that our suppliers declare to Chep, comparing them to the quantity received by us».

The efficiency is in everybody’s favour: «What emerges from the current DinoSol pallet balance Ignacio Simonet, head of the Chep Iberia Retail Management Division comments - is in line with our registrations. We are in fact close to recovering 100% of the pallets sent to DiniSol, indeed an important achievement. Without counting the fact that we have avoided the problem associated with the inappropriate reuse of Chep’s blue ■ pallets».

End of line & Handling Succhi di frutta: soluzioni d’imballo affidabili La vasta gamma di macchine di imballaggio e di sistemi robotizzati offerti permette a Cama Group di soddisfare differenti e svariate esigenze, in relazione alle velocità e alle caratteristiche tecniche dell’imballo da realizzare.

Grazie alla specializzazione multisettoriale, l’azienda di Garbagnate Monastero (LC) vanta numerose applicazioni di successo nel settore beverage e, in particolare, nel comparto succhi di frutta, il cui consumo in costante incremento ha indotto i produttori a utilizzare impianti sempre più prestanti e affidabili per far fronte alle nuove richieste di mercato.

Ecco spiegato uno dei motivi per cui Cama è stata selezionata per fornire tre astucciatrici elettroniche destinate a imballare i brick cuneiformi di succhi. Ogni astucciatrice è in grado di ricevere fino a 160 confezioni al minuto, ognuna dotata di apposita cannuccia la cui presenza viene garantita da un sistema di visione del cliente. Vista la particolare forma del prodotto, Cama ha ingegnerizzato per questa specifica applicazione uno speciale sistema di orientamento, capace di ruotare di 180° un prodotto per consentire raggruppamenti di confezioni con un’interfaccia base-testa. Proprio il corretto orientamento del prodotto era uno dei requisiti fondamentali chiesti dal cliente, così da rendere visibile il marchio attraverso un’originale finestra posizionata su un lato della confezione. I succhi, orientati singolarmente, vengono alimentati in un convogliatore a tasche monoasse, raggruppati per due e trasportati nella zona d’inserimento in un astuccio in micro-onda, prelevato da un magazzino a grande capacità. I prodotti vengono raggruppati in configurazioni di 6-8 o 10, poi introdotti da uno spintore negli astucci e successivamente trasferiti al sistema di chiusura dell’astucciatrice.

Su espressa richiesta di un altro produttore del settore, Cama ha realizzato una linea compatta e di ingombro ridotto per imballare i brick di succhi di frutta. Una multimballo elettronica ad alta velocità (30.000 brick/h) provvede a confezionare i contenitori in fascetta avvolgente. I prodotti vengono successivamente caricati in vassoi dall’isola monoblocco Cama, composta da una formatrice di scatole integrata e da un innovativo robot a due assi in fibra di carbonio.

Fruit-juices: reliable packaging solutions The vast range of packaging machines and robotised systems offered enables Cama Group to satisfy a host of different and varying demands, in relation to the speed and the technical characteristics of the packaging to be made.

Thanks to its multisectoral specialisation, the Garbagnate Monastero (LC) based company can boast numerous successful applications in the beverage sector and, in particular, in the fruit-juice segment, the constant increase in the consumption of which has induced producers to use ever more performant and reliable plantsystems to face the new market demands.

One of the reasons why Cama has been selected to supply three electronic cartoning machines for packaging cuneiform juice briks.

Each cartoning machine has a capacity of up to 160 packs a minute, each pack with its special straw attached, the presence of which is checked by the customer’s vision system.

Given the particular shape of the product, Cama has engineered a special orientation system for this specific application, capable of rotating a product 180° to enable groupings of packs with a base-head interface. Indeed the correct orientation of the product was one of the fundamental requisites demanded by the customer, this to render the brand visible via an original window placed on one side of the pack. The juices, orientated singly, are fed two-by-two to a monoaxial pocket conveyor in the insertion zone in a microcorrugate carton, picked up from a large capacity storage facility.

The products are grouped in configurations of 6-8 or 10, then inserted into the cartons by a thruster and subsequently transferred to the cartoning machine closure system.

On express demand from another producer in the sector, Cama has made a compact low bulk line for packaging fruit-juice briks. An electronic hi-speed multipacking machine (30,000 briks/h) sees to packing the containers in wrap-around strips. The products are subsequently loaded onto trays by the Cama monoblock island comprising an integrated box former and an innovatory bi-axial carbon fibre robot.

Automation & Controls Safety PLC Safeline by the German concern Dina (represented in Italy by Masautomazione - Segrate, MI) is a flexible and modular safety PLC, for wiring and machine logic in category 4 already conforming to SIL3. It enables the obtainment of signals from safety actuators (emergency buttons, bimanual commands, switches, photoelectric barriers…) and motion signals or that is monitoring the speed of motors on machines fitted with rotating parts with a great mass (and incredible inertia). Safelines reveal the actual rotation because they can be connected to proximity sensors, onboard machine encoders or inverters and programmed to extremely low rotation speeds.

These PLCs can control a large or small number of I/Os, also the analogical type, they can be interfaced with Profibus and Ethernet networks and are programmable via a userfriendly software.

PLC di sicurezza Safeline della tedesca Dina (rappresentata in Italia da Masautomazione di Segrate, MI) è un PLC di sicurezza flessibile e modulare, per cablaggi e logiche di macchina in categoria 4 già conforme a SIL3.

Permette di ottenere segnali da attuatori di sicurezza (pulsanti d’emergenza, comandi bimanuali, interruttori, barriere fotoelettriche...) e segnali da motion ovvero dal monitoraggio della velocità dei motori su macchine dotate di parti rotanti di grande massa (e notevole inerzia). I Safeline rilevano la rotazione effettiva perché collegabili a sensori di prossimità, encoder o inverter a bordo macchina e programmati su velocità di rotazione ridottissime.

Questi PLC possono controllare un numero grande o piccolo di I/O, anche di tipo analogico, sono interfacciabili a reti Profibus ed Ethernet e programmabili tramite un software certificato intuibile e facile da usare.

Integrated solutions for motion control Kinetix is Rockwell Automation’s offer for integrated and multidisciplinary control (PLC, motion control, drive control, network management etc). The drives of the Kinetix 2000, Kinetix 6000 and Kinetix 7000 families are run by Controllogix, Guardlogix and Compactlogix through digital interfaces and Sercos fibre optics.

The parameterising, the tuning of the settings, the diagnostics are carried out directly in the RSLogix 5000 programming environment via guided and wizard procedures so that all the data are saved in the same project.

As well as on Sercos the coming Kinetix generation will be able to count on Ethernet/IP real-time interface, extending the potentials of the motion system with new performances and network topologies. The motorisations available comprise low and average inertia brushless motors (MP and TLY family) also in food grade or stainless steel version for covering all needs (continuous torques from 0.1 to 150 Nm).

Rockwell’s catalogue also offers asynchronous motors for particularly harsh conditions, torque motors and a broad range of linear motors.

Precision planetary gearboxes Wittenstein alpha (Italian branch in Sesto S. Giovanni, MI) presented its new SP+ TP+ precision planetary gearboxes. The two families, including angular versions, have been optimized from the standpoint of materials and productive processes, not to mention design. That means an increase in torques and absolute 1:1 geometric compatibility, all without any variation in the order codes or costs.

Both series guarantee energy efficiency (thanks to greater power in reduced bulk) and interchangeability with the previous series (since the external dimensions and interfaces remain unchanged).

Also, thanks to its twenty-five years of experience, the concern has managed to push to the limit the potential of these two gems, focusing on a cutting-edge design.

Indeed, in order to offer the greatest possible design freedom for both the SP+ and TP+ lines, a modular design was adopted, enabling combinations with the ipoide series, while the SP+ family also includes a version with hollow shaft and connector.

The SP+ series supports even higher outgoing radial loads, and the perfected toothing ensures greater safety in daily operation.

Depending on the application, the torques have been increased by as much as 25%. That enables an increase in power density and offers the customer the option of selecting a smaller (and therefore cheaper) gearbox.

But that’s not all. With the help of cymex® 3 scaling software, designed by Wittenstein alpha, the gearbox’s ideal configuration can be determined, guaranteeing at the same time quick and easy scaling of the entire cinematic chain, with the option of also calculating energy consumption.

Gli azionamenti delle famiglie Kinetix 2000, Kinetix 6000 e Kinetix 7000 sono gestiti dai controllori Controllogix, Guardlogix e Compactlogix tramite l’interfaccia digitale a fibre ottiche Sercos.

La parametrizzazione, il tuning della regolazione e la diagnostica vengono svolte direttamente nell’ambiente di programmazione RSLogix 5000, attraverso procedure guidate e wizard in modo che tutti i dati vengano salvati nello stesso progetto. La prossima generazione di Kinetix potrà contare, oltre che su Sercos, sull’interfaccia Ethernet/IP real-time, estendendo le potenzialità del sistema motion con nuove prestazioni e topologie di rete.

Le motorizzazioni disponibili comprendono motori brushless a bassa e media inerzia (famiglie MP e TLY) anche in esecuzione food grade o stainless steel per coprire tutte le esigenze (coppie continuative da 0,1 a 150 Nm). A catalogo Rockwell propone anche motori asincroni per applicazioni particolarmente gravose, motori torque e un’ampia gamma di motori lineari.

Riduttori epicicloidali di precisione Wittenstein alpha (sede italiana a Sesto S. Giovanni, MI) ha presentato i nuovi riduttori epicicloidali di precisione SP+ TP+. Le due famiglie, incluse le versioni angolari, sono state ottimizzate dal punto di vista dei materiali, dei processi produttivi, nonché del design. Ciò significa aumento delle coppie e assoluta compatibilità geometrica 1:1, il tutto senza alcuna variazione nei codici d’ordine e nei costi.

Entrambe le serie assicurano efficienza energetica (grazie a una maggior potenza in ingombri ridotti) e intercambiabilità con la serie precedente (poiché le dimensioni esterne e le interfacce rimangono invariate).

Grazie inoltre all’esperienza maturata in venticinque anni di attività, l’azienda ha potuto spingere al massimo le potenzialità di questi suoi due fiori all’occhiello, puntando su un design all’avanguardia. Per offrire infatti la massima libertà progettuale sia per

la linea SP+ che TP+ è stato adottato un design modulare che permette la combinazione con la serie ipoide, mentre la famiglia SP+ prevede anche la variante con albero cavo e calettatore.

La serie SP+ sopporta carichi radiali in uscita ancora più elevati e la dentatura perfezionata assicura una maggiore sicurezza nell’operatività quotidiana.

A seconda dell’esecuzione, le coppie sono state incrementate fino al 25%. Ciò permette un aumento della densità di potenza e offre al cliente la possibilità di scegliere un riduttore di taglia inferiore (quindi più economico).

Ma non è tutto. Con l’ausilio del software di dimensionamento cymex® 3, progettato da Wittenstein alpha, si può determinare la configurazione ideale del riduttore, garantendo al contempo il dimensionamento dell’intera catena cinematica in maniera semplice e veloce, con la possibilità di calcolare anche il consumo energetico.

Il glossario intende far convergere e restituire, in una forma immediata e di facile fruizione, il complesso sistema di conoscenze inerente il packaging: dalle culture del progetto alle tecnologie, dalle tecniche di stampa, ai processi di confezionamento, dalle forme della distribuzione ai contenuti ambientali. Riduttori epicicloidali a gioco ridotto

ATS 3080 è il sistema di fascettatura automatico, veloce e versatile proposto da HellermannTyton (Limena, PD) come soluzione innovativa e in grado di soddisfare ogni esigenza di applicazione, dato che può essere utilizzato per installazioni su tavola di cablaggio, con attrezzatura sospesa o montata a banco per installazioni manuali. ATS 3080 consente inoltre di risparmiare tempo e denaro, perché utilizza solo la parte di nastro necessaria al diametro di legatura, senza produrre sfridi, e il taglio è netto, a filo della chiusura.

Il nastro a dentatura esterna e le chiusure sono fornite in bobina continua, disponibile in bobine da 500 m e 5000 chiusure. Il nastro a dentatura esterna è ideale per applicazioni con cavo siliconico o con isolante particolarmente delicato, in quanto non danneggia l’isolamento dei conduttori. Un altro vantaggio offerto è la possibilità di usare tre ganasce con diametri diversi (30, 50 e 80 mm): grazie all’elettronica di cui è dotato, riconosce la ganascia e cambia automaticamente i parametri per il ciclo che risulta estremamente breve (solo 1,3 secondi utilizzando la ganascia da 50 mm).

Neugart GmbH di Kippenheim (sede italiana a Moncalieri, TO), che opera nel campo dei componenti per trasmissioni meccaniche del moto, è specializzata nella tecnologia dei riduttori epicicloidali a gioco ridotto. La gamma produttiva si suddivide in tre principali categorie.

• La serie “economica” PLE ha gioco contenuto e offre esecuzioni a partire da 6 min. arco, elevate coppie in uscita pur con dimensioni ridotte, rapporti di riduzione da 3:1 a 512:1. È suddivisa in 8 taglie per coppie trasmissibili fino a 1.000-1.200 Nm e un rendimento del 96%. L’azienda propone anche una versione angolare (WPLE, con gioco angolare comunque contenuto ed efficienza del 94%), e una flangiata (PLFE, a norme ISO 9409).

• La serie “per impieghi gravosi” PLF-HP è caratterizzata da un gioco inferiore ai 3 min. arco, con coppie trasmissibili fino a un massimo di 1.800 Nm, rapporti da 4:1 a 64:1.

• La nuova linea “ad alte prestazioni” PLN prevede invece un gioco anche inferiore a 1 min. arco, maggiori coppie massime in uscita, rapporti da 3:1 a 100:1, una vita ancora più lunga, efficienza al 98% e una silenziosità di funzionamento ≤58 dB (A).

Vetro ai raggi X Il sistema di ispezione Glass Chek Quad di MettlerToledo Safeline X-ray è dedicato al monitoraggio di prodotti ad alto rischio, confezionati in contenitori di vetro. Grazie a una tecnologia adattativa assicura, infatti, una identificazione rapida e affidabile di corpi estranei come vetro, metallo e pietra.

Binding in a second ATS 3080 is the speedy and versatile binding system offered by HellermannTyton (Limena, PD) as an innovatory solution capable of satisfying all application needs. It can be used for installation on the cabling table, with suspended equipment or the same assembled on the bench for manual installations. ATS 3080 also enables savings in both time and money, because it only uses the part of the tape required for the binding diameter, without producing working waste while providing neat cut flush to the closure. The externally toothed tape and the closures come in continuous reels, available in reels of 500 and 5000 closures. The externally toothed tape is ideal for applications with siliconated cable or with particularly delicate insulators, in that it does not damage the conductor insulation.

Another advantage there is the possibility of using three grippers with different diameters (30, 50 and 80 mm); thanks to the electronics with which it is equipped, it

Reduced backlash planetary gearboxes Neugart GmbH of Kippenheim (in Italy is at Moncalieri, TO), that operates in the field of components for mechanical transmission, is specialised in reduced backlash planetary gearboxes. Its production offer is divided into three main categories.

• The “economical” PLE series with minimal backlash offers executions starting from 6 arc. min, high torque even with small size, 3:1 to 512:1 reduction ratios. X-ray glass The Mettler-Toledo Safeline X-ray Glass Chek Quad inspection system is dedicated to monitoring high risk products packed in glass containers. Thanks to an adaptive technology the same in fact ensures the rapid and reliable identification of extraneous bodies such as glass, metal and stone. The system carries out a simultaneous vertical x-ray scan along with three horizontal beams, that minimises the areas hidden at the base, on the walls and in the neck of the glass container maximising the coverage and probability of locating the

extraneous object. Multiple inspection systems can also be stored for obtaining an optimum result whatever the size or shape of the container. Glass Chek Quad is effective aboveall with large necked containers and offers max performance with glass fragments.

The software provided enables the inspection of up to 1,000 containers a minute and offers an intuitive and userfriendly interface, with a product menu that can be set or regulated by personnel without having to turn to specialised technicians (thus reducing machine down time to a minimum). It is also capable of measuring the filling level of the glass containers, while an optical barcode reader facilitates the automatic product change for greater productivity. The special access and events register system stores all the activities in a database (for example the quality and hourly rhythm tests), guaranteeing the complete traceability of any change made.

Interruttori di sicurezza a cerniera Sicurezza e stile in un unico prodotto: così viene proposta la linea Palladio di Pizzato Elettrica (Marostica, VI), dove l’interruttore è stato completamente integrato nella cerniera meccanica, garantendo così maggiore sicurezza. Grazie al montaggio posteriore senza viti in vista e alla linea molto curata, l’interruttore risulta facilmente integrabile.

Componenti per la sicurezza La gamma produttiva della Wide Automation (San Giovanni in Marignano, RN) comprende tappeti e bordi sensibili, bumpers e centraline elettroniche, tutti componenti necessari a gestire i sistemi di sicurezza e di protezione. Si tratta di dispositivi in grado di rilevare la presenza dell’operatore in zone pericolose, sia per rischi di tipo ambientale, sia per quelli di collisione con veicoli o di schiacciamento ad opera di organi meccanici in movimento.

Wide Automation è attiva anche nella produzione di cilindri elettrici, componenti elettromeccanici che trasformano i motori elettrici in attuatori lineari. In questo caso, la società si avvale della collaborazione di diversi costruttori di motori sia passo/passo che normali d.c. motor. Per le versioni ad alte prestazioni utilizza motori brushless con azionamento integrato completo di CANopen della tedesca ERL, casa che Wide Automation rappresenta in Italia.

• Di recente, l’azienda ha rinnovato sia i componenti destinati al settore sicurezza (ha ridisegnato i tappeti e lanciato nuovi modelli di bordi e di bumper) sia i cilindri elettrici. Per quanto riguarda i cilindri elettrici, grazie alle frizioni ad isteresi magnetica della multinazionale Ogura, è stato possibile mettere a punto un nuovo prodotto in grado di sostituire completamente un cilindro pneumatico o oleodinamico; inoltre, con l’inserimento di una scheda elettronica può sostituire gli attuali meccanismi di apertura porte.

Components for safety Wide Automation (San Giovanni in Marignano, RN) produces components used in making safety systems for protecting machine operators. Their range includes sensitive perimeter carpets, bumpers and electronic switchboards needed for managing safety systems.

These are devices capable of revealing the presence of the operator in dangerous areas, both concerning environment type risks as well as risk of collision with vehicles or crushing by active mechanical devices.

Wide Automation is also active in the production of electrical cylinders, electromechanical components that transform electric motors into linear actuators. In this case, the company avails itself of the cooperation of different motor builders of both stepper and normal d.c. motors. For the high performance versions brushless motors are used with integrated drive complete with CANopen from the German concern ERL, producer that Wide Automation represents in Italy.

• The company has recently renewed both its components for the safety sector (it has redesigned the carpets and launched new perimeter and bumper models) as well as electrical cylinders. As far as the electrical cylinders are concerned, thanks to the magnetic hysterisis clutch made by the multinational Ogura, a new product has been devised capable of completely replacing a pneumatic or oleodynamic cylinder; as well as that, with the insertion of an electronic card, current hatch and door opening mechanisms can be replaced.

ItaliaImballaggio is an independent magazine, published by Edizioni Dativo Srl, Milan, whose aim is to give voice to the Italian packaging industry in as capable and professional way as possible, while rejecting a conformism that all too often confuses information with advertising.

The magazine is divided up into five basic sections - covering marketing and design, statistics and sector trends, management, environment and legislation and lastly, technological and product innovation - all of which including indepth features and news in brief.
