FLORIDA ROADSIDE REVIVAL - SPACE OF FILTERED LIGHT AND SHADOW
INSPIRED BY THE REUSE OF A 1930’s ROADSIDE ICON, MOVEMENT, PERCEPTION, EXPERIENCE, AND VERNACULAR CRAFT
This proposed food hall and distillery project seeks to revive a roadside icon in a small but impactful historic downtown known for both its agrarian grove roots, as well as, legacy for mid-century modern craft . Building as occupiable “billboard” and design/space as “sign” of occupation are launching points for the conceptual study, The vision is to celebrate roadside architecture while righting some of its lost opportunities for human centric design.
