ental care in Britain can be expensive as the amount of ‘free’ NHS care available is decreasing. Even more so if the patient needs a lot of work done. It can be a long process if it must fit in with work commitments but through IndexMedicaUK, everything is worked around each clients’ availability and needs. Research by the Treatment Abroad Medical Tourism Industry in 2007 showed that the most common dental procedures for patient travelling abroad were crowns, dental implants, bridges and veneers. Through IndexMedicaUK, there could be a saving of up to 70% on costs! In 2008, over 120,000 people travelled abroad for medical care, nearly half of those for dental work, and the forecast of migrating patients keeps rising. Clients of local company IndexMedicaUK would first have a consultation at the company’s centre in Wakefield where they receive a quote for the required dental work to be done at its surgery in Krakow, Poland. Depending on how long the client wants to stay, the company would then book flights, accommodation, shuttle to and from the airport and even provide the patient with a guide book - an additional attraction is a visit to the wonderful historic city of Krakow, which has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Polish academic, cultural and artistic life. Arek Buziewicz, one of the partners, told us: “We have sent people down already and have received very positive feedback. So far, we are exceeding our business model for growth and we are
ready to start hosting Open Evenings for local people to come along and find out more about our services, procedures and prices with presentations from Dr. Krzysztof Gonczowski, our dental specialist who carries out all procedures at our Krakow clinic.” In fact the first of these Open Evenings is being held at Herriots Hotel on Broughton Road in Skipton, on the 20th August, starting at 6pm. Attending this event will give you the opportunity to discuss your individual requirements with the dental specialists and learn more about the procedures they offer. If you have a Panoramic x-ray, you can bring this along to receive a free quotation and treatment plan. For example, four veneers, two crowns and whitening in the UK would cost you approximately £4,500. Through IndexMedicaUK you would pay £1,492 and any minor adjustments can be taken care of at their Wakefield clinic. That is a huge saving and in the current economic climate, the money saved could buy that much needed holiday or new car.
Testimonial “I have been trying to find a local NHS dentist for 3 years to no avail. Having found a dentist 30 miles away, after my first treatment the practice went private. I heard about IndexMedicaUK through a friend and haven’t looked back. Last year, I visited the beautiful city of Krakow, had a wonderful weekend and returned with a fantastic new smile for half the price I had been quoted for veneers in the UK.” Rebecca, 39 from Yorkshire.
For further information or to book a free place on one of the Open Evenings, Call Arek or Jan on Freephone 0800 334 5967

www.IndexMedicaUK.com
Questions you might have Q. How do I find out more? A. Come along to our Open Evening at Herriots Hotel in Skipton on 20th August at 6pm or call 0800 334 5967 for details of other events. You can also visit
www.IndexMedicaUK.com
Q. Are the dentists properly trained? A. All of the dentists at IndexMedicaUK have received a specialist degree according to the newest European Union Regulations. Three of them have PhD’s in medicine, three specialise in dental prosthetics, two specialise in dental surgery, one in paradontology (regression of the gums causing tooth loss) and others in conservative dentistry and endodentistry. Plus all of our dentists speak fluent English.
Q. Are you insured? A. We are one of the largest and most modern private clinics in Poland. Our success rate is based on the fact that our healthcare institutions are wellequipped with valuable, high end medical equipment. However, due to the lower staff salaries in Poland, we can offer you experienced dentists and a very high standard of service at such reasonable prices. All of our dentists have finished postgraduate study in a narrow discipline of dentistry - this is why we are able to deliver to our patients the highest level of treatment.
Q. What if I need more treatment, will I have to go back to Krakow? A. Your treatment is accurately planned so you avoid paying extras and any aftercare will be organised at our clinic in Wakefield. 5
Feel Great Lose Weight Slow Deterioration
From Bad to Worse
The diarrhoea however didn’t go away. I carried a backpack everywhere with my toilet essentials and had a mental map of decent loos in Melbourne. My joints and muscles hurt constantly and I felt as though I needed oiling in the mornings. My weight crept up. I was tired all the time. But I was overseas on an adventure so I pushed myself to go out in the evenings and after a few beers usually felt OK.
Although I recovered, for the next few years I was never really well. My weight ballooned, I was bloated, depressed, had chronic diarrhoea, caught every bug in circulation, had painful joints and muscles, was always tired, felt grubby (I couldn’t really explain it to anyone but it felt as though my blood was dirty) and sometimes had to use a walking stick.
Unidentified Illness
My Daily Bread
A Food Sensitivity Test Changed Everything!
I never realised my health was not great until I was lucky enough to discover what really good health feels like. I had been experiencing some apparently unconnected health problems for a number of years. Ultimately, despite numerous tests, the hospital doctors concluded that my immune system was fighting something they just did not know what or where.
Each evening on my way home I called into a bakery that sold amazing bread and enjoyed a couple of slices whilst preparing my evening meal. Little did I know the bread was pushing me to the brink of a health crisis.
Overweight, bloating, constipation, diarrhoea, depression, weight loss, anxiety, indigestion, eczema, recurrent infections, feel generally under the weather or have symptoms which have defied diagnosis? A food sensitivity test could help to restore your health.
It All Started With a Tummy Bug My health really began to deteriorate when I got a stomach bug whilst visiting the Phillippines en route to university in Australia. I wasn’t unduly concerned at the time: I had diarrhoea but nothing I couldn’t cope with.

with detox
Poisoned Blood Towards the end of the semester, as my finals approached, I started to feel very unwell indeed. At my last exam I knew there was something seriously wrong when I could read each word on the paper but couldn’t understand the sentence. Ten days later I was in hospital being told that my survival was nothing short of miraculous. I had a massive infection in my colon which had poisoned my blood, my body was in shock and my organs were beginning to fail.
My life was beginning to feel pointless until I had a food sensitivity test which highlighted a number of problematic foods including wheat. Within a month of starting the elimination programme I was 22lbs lighter, happy, pain free and with normally functioning bowels. The battle my immune system had been fighting was finally over!
My doctor didn’t believe in food sensitivities; I believe the food sensitivity test saved my life. Don’t suffer in silence just because you keep getting told there’s nothing wrong with you. Food sensitivities can have a devastating effect on your life.

Lynne’s W8 Business Grows While Her Clients Shed the Pounds
A
ll About W8 consultant Lynne Ingham is seeing her business grow while her clients shed the pounds after a successful year in business. For Lynne Ingham, launching her All About W8 consultancy in Keighley signalled the start of a new life in a career that she was passionate about. Lynne, 52, had spent 32 years in the civil service, rising to the position of senior executive officer but had become demoralised and was looking for a new and exciting challenge. After spotting an advert for All About W8 she realised that she could put the skills she had acquired to good use by running her own consultancy and took a giant leap by becoming the executive consultant for Keighley. The venture has certainly paid off for Lynne as a year on she has a growing list of

aroline Scott, of Ingrow, Keighley, is just one of the local people Lynne is helping to achieve their weight loss goal. Caroline, 33, weighed 15st 9lb and was a size 20 when she started the All About W8 Regular Programme, in March. Now Caroline, who owns Chrysalis Health and Beauty Salon, in Keighley, is a slim size 14 and weighs 13st 2lb, after losing two-and-a-half stones in three months. She has just half a stone to go until she has reached her target weight and is now following the W8 For Life programme. Caroline says: “I was so determined to lose weight and All About W8 made it easy for me, especially with Lynne’s support. This is the easiest diet I have ever followed and I have felt the difference in how my clothes fit and my skin is more radiant. I’ve had loads of compliments from friends and my clients at the salon. I feel fantastic and I have so much more confidence.” Anyone in the Keighley area who is interested in losing weight or in becoming a W8 For Life consultant, can contact Lynne on 0844 544 8323, or 07941 392460. clients, whom she helps to achieve their weight loss goals, and a fulfilling job that she loves. The All About W8 diet involves having nutritionally balanced Mealpaks, which are low calorie, low GI and low carb, combined with healthy foods from an “add a meal” approved list. Lynne, who is also a Prince’s Trust business mentor, says: “I thrive off seeing my clients become healthier and happier after losing weight and it gives me such satisfaction. Since setting up the consultancy, I have never looked back and am having a lot of fun. “As a business it’s going from strength to strength. Last month my client base grew by 20 per cent from the previous month and I am now looking to recruit five W8 For Life consultants to run classes in the local area. It’s a fantastic opportunity for anyone who would like to run their own business but with full support from me and the All About W8 head office.”
Lynne, who is married to Dave, holds weekly W8 For Life meetings at her base at Temple Chambers, in Russell Street, Keighley. W8 For Life is just one of the five All About W8 programmes, designed to suit different lifestyles. W8 For Life is ever popular because it is a low calorie weight loss programme, which can help anyone to get into shape and lose weight quickly. Lynne says: “During my time in the civil service, I did a lot of personal development coaching and I have been able to transfer these skills to my new role with All About W8 as I help people to achieve their weight loss goals through one-to-one support. The All About W8 diet is fantastic because unlike other Very Low Calorie Diets (VLCDs), it incorporates healthy foods from the outset and the Mealpaks give you all the nutrition you need. The results it achieves can be astonishing, with clients dropping their excess weight very quickly.”

ith the long summer holidays approaching quickly, many parents are probably wondering how they’re going to keep their children entertained. For those non-working mums and “shift dads”, the problem of childcare will be reasonably wellcovered. For families with both parents working full time, finding babysitters or “child carers” is sometimes quite an obstacle. Initially, the children will find plenty of things to entertain and amuse themselves; however by weeks 3 and 4, the novelty of “no school” will have worn off. Boredom may set in and behaviour problems appear.
1.Try to organize a weekly programme of events for the children. On a large calendar, list daily activities the children will look forward to and enjoy. 2. Alternate the “passive” and the “active” events. Passive activities include things such as watching TV or videos, playing handheld games and the computer. Active pastimes could include outings, cooking sessions, craft activities, sports etc, 3. The outings don’t necessarily have to cost money. Walk up to the local Tourist Information Office and collect a handful of free brochures. Or drop by the library to see if they are holding any special
events over the summer holidays. 4. Listen to local radio stations. They often broadcast upcoming events. 5. City centres may have a display board promoting local events. It amazes me how some people can live in an area for years and never really explore its surroundings as a “tourist”. Keighley offers dozens of attractions of a historical nature, natural beauty and cultural excellence. Why not enjoy the wonderful sights of your immediate environment and then spread your wings to other counties?
Possibly the Best Pan Asian Restaurant in the Area! Yo Yo Bar and Restaurant, Rosse Street, Off Saltaire Road, Shipley BD18 3SW

hen we did a restaurant review of YoYo’s Restaurant and Bar in Shipley at the beginning of the year we were completely blown away by the superb Japanese, Thai and Chinese food, which was to the highest standard we had experienced anywhere. We made some pretty bold statements and ones that were meant wholeheartedly at the time we dined. So on hearing that a new menu had been launched, we decided to re-visit YoYo’s and see if it was as good second time around, and I have to admit that it was even better! In fact it was so good that I contacted the owner Simon Dunn and asked him if he would be prepared to offer a discount for Here & Now readers as I want as many of you as possible to have the same dining experience that we had. Very kindly Simon has agreed to extend 15% discount on production of the voucher on this page. Try it and see what you think.

Welcome Food
The setting is really modern and trendy yet very tastefully done with great lighting and fantastic music played just at the correct volume to enjoy but also have a decent conversation.
“...the food is fresh and full of flavour...” The service is discreet, slick and professional under the direction of owner Simon Dunn, a man who obviously knows how to get the balance just right, as with the capacity to seat over 200 he has also realised that YoYo’s is the perfect venue for weddings, celebrations as there are some superb, large raised dining areas plus a large lounge and bar area where people can just have a drink or something light to eat if they don’t want a full meal; and

the food... ah well, the food is fresh and full of flavour, and most importantly as it is said that we ‘eat with our eyes’ and the food at YoYo’s is the most colourful, mouth watering picture on a plate that you will see anywhere. I was intrigued to see that it was still a magnet for all ages, I guess a great atmosphere and superb food and service attracts all. Once again we stayed long after we had finished our meal for another couple of drinks and to extend our evening out in a great atmosphere. Yo yo is Japanese for come, come or return. How apt!

With Virgin Vie @ Home our customers can enjoy a girls’ night in instead and treat themselves to our fabulous skin care and make up. The benefit for me? I get a fun night out whilst earning money.”
Every consultant who joins Virgin Vie @ Home is given full training, giving them the confidence to get their business started and enjoy their parties. ollowing our features last year on Cowling based Drystone Community Radio, the hits to their website immediately increased from 4,500 per month to 20,000, proving the impact HERE & now! has within the local community. I met with the new Drystone Community Radio team to find out more about them and it was really exciting to see what they have planned. I also had the pleasure to be interviewed and to be able to share with their listeners the history of Here & now Magazine, how and why we started and our own plans for the future. Drystone Radio is staffed entirely by volunteers; and they are always looking for additional people to help raise funds, assist
with administration, marketing, broadcasting and also with print services. If you are interested and want to know more, call 01535 635392 or email email@drystoneradio.com. Recently the current team ran the Big 10k Run to raise funds for Sue Ryder on the 22nd of March at Victoria Park in Keighley and Drystone Radio provided The Voodoos for entertainment. There were over 400 runners on the day and it was made even more poignant as Jade Goody lost her battle against cancer that day. The Voodoos rocked the runners out and back in, and Town Cryer, Kevin Reid Griffiths, who is also one of their broadcasters, set them off on their way. All in all another great success for Drystone Radio.
Drystone Radio went live again on January 16th on 106.9 FM. For details of shows please visit www.drystoneradio. co.uk or email@ drystoneradio.com. They are always on the lookout for volunteers if you have time to dedicate, or want to advertise with them call Veronica on 01535 635392.

You’re in Safe Hands with Mortgage Q
M
ortgage Q was formed in April 2001, primarily to service the needs of homebuyers through the links the company had with a local firm of estate agents. When Managing Director Andrew Milnes sold that part of the business to the estate agents at the start of 2008, he was entering into uncharted waters. Having the luxury of being introduced to hundreds of people every month who were looking for mortgages to buy houses, Andrew and his team had always been busy and were completing on over £100 million of mortgages a year. Despite that success, Andrew felt that the firm had lost its personal approach - the very thing that had made it successful in the first instance. “This went against everything I had learnt as a financial advisor and I wanted to go back to knowing my client fully, being able to afford to spend time with them and understanding their circumstances and needs. This is something that is often missed when high volumes are completed” So, in April 2008, Andrew moved into Aire Valley Park on Wagon Lane, Bingley with the intention of getting back to providing high quality personal service and advice for their existing clients only. As quite often happens in business, things did not go as planned and Andrew soon found that he was attracting lots of new clients by his reputation for providing good quality advice. This has meant an increase in team numbers. Andrew has now added an advisor to his team and is still looking to recruit further. “Whilst the move was a big decision, I could not be happier with how things have worked out. I think that over the last twelve months we have enhanced our reputation as the Aire Valley’s premier mortgage brokerage” Whilst Andrew knew that the good times in the housing market could not last forever, not even he foresaw the near collapse of the whole British banking system and the problems that this brought to his particular area of speciality - mortgages.
Always one to look for the positives, Andrew saw this as an opportunity and has enhanced the services on offer from Mortgage Q to try and help people through the tough times. “As daft as it sounds, the problems people have had obtaining finance have proven to be good for me as more people are now seeking ‘quality’ advice and we believe we are in the driving seat to provide it. Further more, we have started, mainly in response to our client’s needs, to help with advice on things like debt management plans, mortgage arrears and problems with managing finances on a day-to-day basis. We have even started to help clients find cheaper utility packages. Unlike many estate agency based mortgage advisors, my aim was never just to help people buy their house - I wanted to try and help them own it. With this in mind I feel a sense of duty to assist when things are not as good as they perhaps have been.” Good planning is the key to this and Andrew urges people with problems to avoid the ‘ostrich’ syndrome. Burying your head in the sand is the worst thing you can do, it’s often said that the hardest part of sorting out a problem is the first phone call and Andrew echoes this “Over the last twelve months, we have helped people who were on the verge of repossession and people who were just a day late with the mortgage. We have helped people with over £100,000 of unsecured debt and people who owed £25. Whatever the circumstances, it’s a worry and the first thing you need to do is take advice”. For advice and assistance with mortgages, debt management or even utilities, call Andrew and his friendly team for a no-obligation informal chat. Are you a Woman with Vision? W omen today are playing an ever more important role in the business world and locally this is very true! Just over a year ago a networking group was set up by four local business women, for other women in business to be able to refer great business between them, helping them all to keep ahead of the competition. Pamela Whiteley, Rachel Palm, Susan Copeman and Angela Riches, all have very different businesses, but found it easy to refer new business referrals to each other and realised that the potential of doing this on a much bigger scale would not only benefit their own businesses further but would enhance and build the business of many others. So as Women with Vision, other like-minded ladies in business are invited to join the group and reap the benefits of such powerful interaction. There are people who would rather not be involved in networking - it strikes fear into their hearts. They imagine that networking is a pastime for the aggressive and predatory. Nothing could be further from the truth with Women with Vision. Women with Vision gives its members the opportunity to build their personal network balance sheet with confidence, giving on one side, taking on the other. Having attended many networking groups, the four founders knew how effective networking can be if done correctly, and this has proven to be the case over the last 14 months. Here’s what some of the members have to say; “I love the Women with Vision meetings and have done business with many of
22
the members. I have had many referrals following on from that. It is such a costeffective way to gain new business.” Sam Ferrington, Greenfield Wills & Trusts.
“Women with Vision has really benefited me as a new business. It’s always hard to find your first clients and customers so it was a relief to find this concept working for me so quickly.” Natalie Wild, YourHR “I was amazed that after having the opportunity to do a 15 minute presentation on my business, it had such an immediate impact on the business I received from Women with Vision. I am thrilled with the return against such a small investment and would urge any local business women to attend a meeting.” Rachel Palm, SureSlim Bingley and Skipton. “Women with Vision meetings have a really good energy. They come up with some brilliantly creative ways to let the members know about each business and what kind of referrals they would like, so anyone who does not want to stand up and present doesn’t have to. There are many effective ways to promote each business to the group.” Angela Riches, Here & now Magazine. If you do what you always did, you will get what you always had! Dare to be different, change means success! For details on the monthly meetings and venues and to find out how it could benefit your business, call Angela Riches on Tel: 01274 420091 or email angela@madpublications.co.uk.

here are not many businesses that are breaking records at the moment but United Carpets in Shipley are certainly bucking the trend with their success. Owner Adrian Lee puts much of this success down to the fact that their profile is going through the roof with a fleet of new vans, which you have probably seen driving around the area, billboard advertising and some very popular competitions in Here & Now Magazine. Adrian is confident that with discounts and offers, which cannot and will not be matched by anyone else in the area, and the extensive choice in flooring and beds on offer at his Shipley store, he has got something to suit anyone’s pocket. However, price and choice are only two of the reasons that Adrian believes his store is successful. He explains: “I saw the whole concept of selling carpets and flooring change eight years ago. As an independent trader, United Carpets were selling the same products at the price we were buying them in for. This is when I made the decision to become part of the United Carpets concept as the buying power is phenomenal. This company is the fastest growing flooring company in the UK today.” Adrian is proud of the newly introduced Customer Charter, which is a ten point pledge to all United Carpets customers. It proves that they are a company you can trust in today’s uncertain economic climate. With United Carpets, your money and goods are completely safe. At United Carpets, Woodfloor and Beds in Shipley you will find the perfect flooring for your home, office or commercial premises, expert advice and service from the in-store team plus a superb fitting service by fully trained, fully insured, trustworthy fitters! You never know who you are letting into your home, so it’s reassuring to hear that the fitting team at United Carpets in Shipley have been an established team for the last 10 years.Because the total sales and service experience is so good, they work on 80% referrals from satisfied customers. Many carpet shops have just one fitter, which means you could be waiting quite a while to have your own carpet fitted - if their previous fitting job runs over time, this has a knock on effect, delaying your own carpet. Due to the size of the store, particularly since their recent refurbishment and the introduction of the Bespoke Range, United Carpets have a fitting team large enough to guarantee getting your new carpet fitted at your convenience and not the store’s - it can even be fitted the next day if that is what you want. It makes sense to call in at United Carpets, Woodfloor and Beds in Shipley for choice, quality, service and probably the best deals you will find anywhere.

i folks. These are exciting days at Cougar Park. Our team has been running in third place in the Cooperative Championship One table and the brand of football being produced in the 2009 season is among the most exciting seen at the club for several years. In fact, the quality of the Cougars’ performances has been recognised by the league’s competition sponsors, Co-operative, because they named our head coach Barry Eaton as the Championship One’s Coach of the Month for May and included five of our players in the mythical Team of the Month for our division. It was the largest contribution by any club in the division including league leaders Dewsbury Rams, who had four players named in the side. Congratulations are due to Dan Potter, Danny Jones, Jon Presley, Andy Shickell and Scott Law. We like to think that it’s a sign of the times that other people outside Keighley are now starting take notice of us and that the hard work being undertaken here at Cougar Park is beginning to pay off. Barry Eaton fully deserves his award too. Ever since he was appointed two years ago he has proved to be a shrewd, hard-working coach and we really appreciate all that he has done for the club. While we’re talking about Cougar success I must also mention that we have become of the first clubs in the professional game to be awarded the Clubmark Gold award. St Helens from the engage Super League and Leigh Centurions from the Co-operative Championship have also reached the same benchmark award which demonstrates the you have put in place appropriate environments, people with right coaching qualifications and signed up to the highest standard policies to work in
partnership with young people. It’s an award that we’re really proud of because it shows the world that we care about the quality of our community work and that we’re keen to work with young people. These kinds of awards are not given lightly and that makes the gold award an even bigger achievement for a club like Keighley Cougars. Since I last penned a few words to you there have been several comings and goings on the playing staff. We have welcomed to the club centre three-quarter Damien Reid from Batley Bulldogs and prop Ryan Benjafield from Workington Town. Our coach Barry Eaton thought that both players were the kind of people we were looking for to reinforce the side as we seek either promotion as the divisional winners or a place in the end-of-season play-offs. Leaving us were our Scots World Cup second row forward Neil Lowe and halfback Craig Fawcett, both of whom have signed for our Championship One rivals Hunslet Hawks. As Barry Eaton said at the time we wish them well at their new clubs and thank them both for what they have achieved with the Cougars. Neil wanted a greater chance of guaranteed first-team Rugby League while Craig had found it tough to break up the successful halfback pairing of Danny Jones and Jon Presley. Barry felt that Crag was too good to be restricted to only reserve team rugby so we reluctantly agreed to let him join Hunslet. While the Cougars normally like to think as big as they can, during May we took a smaller view because a bunch of miniature Freddie Cougars arrive at Cougar Park. Liz Kidman, head of the Cougar Pride ‘Playing for Success’ class, was the brains behind the commissioning of the small furry replicas of the club’s furry mascot Freddie. She had them made so that she could promote the club in various important educational arenas.
It was an inspirational move and she has now made some available for sale to the public. They cost £9.99 plus £2.00 postage and packing and can be obtained from the Club Shop, Keighley Cougars RLFC, Cougar Park, Royd Ings Avenue, Keighley, West Yorks BD21 3RF. We have also started another couple of community initiatives. For the home game against Workington Town we introduced the ‘Cougar Crawl’ which is a scheme based on the highly successful walking bus system used by schools. The club’s mascot Freddie Cougar walks through town collecting young people who want to go to the Cougar games and escorting them on a route from the war memorial on North Street via Lawkholme Lane to Cougar Park. It’s a new initiative and the club are really proud of not only attracting more young people to watch Rugby League at Cougar Park but using the exercise to count towards the anti obesity campaign as well as keeping young people safe. We’ve also started the ‘Freddie Gang’. This is a group of volunteer school children who will help run the marketing campaign and activity diary for the club mascot, Freddie. The initiative, which is being supported by the Keighley branch of Subway, is designed to give up to 25 children an opportunity to involve themselves in the marketing and media industries. The ‘Gang’ was launched when Wigan’s Great Britain prop Stuart Fielden and his business partner Simon Leah, who hold the Subway’ franchise in Keighley, came to Cougar Park for a photo opportunity. Finally, congratulations are due to one of our biggest fans Sue Dodds because when we visited Blackpool Panthers in May it was her 1,000th consecutive game both home and away following the Cougars. Her achievement attracted loads of media attention and we made a special presentation to her at the home game against Workington Town to mark her achievement.
