If you’re that talk show co-host, Amy Kushnir, you might somehow make the other event the scandalous one.

But of course, for people like Kushnir, all forms of homosexual behavior are inherently inappropriate, period. This is what we’ve been fighting against for years – that’s nothing new. With the cultural tide turning towards us, though, those who oppose LGBT rights have opted to take on a twisted form of martyrdom whenever possible. To them, the loss of any privilege means that freedom is being taken away, even if in reality, that loss is only making things more balanced for everyone.
Footage of Kushnir on her program, The Broadcast, ranting about the kiss between newly-drafted member of the St. Louis Rams Michael Sam and his boyfriend, then storming off the set, has made national coverage. In the time since her incident, she has appeared on Fox News and pulled out the current card among cultural conservatives: she feels persecuted for It’s frustrating, no doubt. here’s always more to people than meets the eye. You wouldn’t guess it when watching him moving at warp speed behind the always-busy bar at Lips, but veteran bartender Wes Ransom is a laid back guy off-the-clock. Friends and family take top priority in his life. When he finds himself alone, Wes loves spending time outside, but he is just as content staying home with a good book.
By Dylan S. Goldman
Why should people come and see you at Lips?
Well, I never received my calling to be a Queen from the land of Glitter, Rainbows and Duct tape, so I have to go above and beyond to deliver the same mind-blowing experience at the bar that the queens deliver out on the floor. I realized quickly that people who come into Lips are looking to have fun and be entertained. So I do whatever I can to make my guests my friends as soon as they sit down! Even when I am slammed I What is your signature/favorite drink to make and am still joking and laughing and trying to put on a show! what is in it? I started my bartending career at a trendy craft cocktail bar. All of our ingredients were delivered bi-weekly, we made all of our own juices and had a huge selection of flavored liquors that we infused ourselves…so really, my heart belongs to any cocktail that takes me more than 45 seconds to make. If I have to muddle mint and basil and squeeze fresh lime, then I’m in heaven. I love making any shot that is going to taste like something. It seems to always really surprise people. My personal favorite is a version of an Oatmeal Cookie shot. It has Jägermeister, Baileys, Goldschlager, and Kahlua layered. Yum. What has your craziest experience as a bartender been? Once, while working at a wine bar in Buckhead, I looked up to see 30 people and a camera crew flooding in from the front door. They surrounded the only patron at my bar and held a reality-TV-style intervention. The guy didn’t even blink an eye as he turned around and ordered another glass of house chardonnay!

hen Dolly Parton calls you, greeting you by name with her unmistakable Tennessee twang, it’s a good idea to immediately establish that the lady on the line is the actual legend herself.

DP: Well, I do believe that I have a lot of gay fans because I think they do accept me as I am – the differences in me – and I think they know that I see that and love that in everybody else. I am not a “Am I talking to the real Dolly or is this an impersonator?” I ask, judgmental person. I’m a very loving and accepting person. Do you sense that relaVery real, as it turns out. Currently promoting her 42nd studio al- tionship? bum, Blue Smoke, Parton talked about the country music community evolving beyond labeling gay people “perverse,” addressed DP: Yes, I do. I’ve always felt that. I’ve always felt that’s one of the rumors of her recent lesbian wedding and dished tit tips to drag things that’s drawn my gay fans to me. They do know that I do feel queens (more stuffing, girls). different, and all of my life I will be different. I always have been. Actually, I’ve been around so long people just kind of feel like they know me. They’ve seen me enough. DP: It’d be a lot better, I can tell you that. But people love to hate, I’m more like a favorite aunt or an older sister or somethin’, so I just and it’s just unfortunate but that’s the way it is. DA: You’ve been such a wonderful ally to us…so much so that people have actually mistaken you as a lesbian yourself. DP: (Laughs) Well, you know what, it’s true. In fact, there was some story recently (in the National Enquirer) where I was supposedly marrying my longtime friend Judy (Ogle) and that my husband was OK with it! I thought, “Where did they come up with all this?” I am not gay, but if I were I would be the first one running out of the closet. DA: When you look at yourself in the mirror, what do you see? DP: I see ways to improve myself. I’ve never been a true beauty and I’m always thinking, “I need to do this, or I could look better than that,” but I guess we all have that. DA: You’ve said that drag queens do you better than you. Have you learned anything about yourself from watching people impersonate you? DP: Most of the drag queens are about six feet tall already ... and then they put on those high heels! I ain’t big as a minute, so I always think, what I’ve learned about myself is, I’m not tall. I’m definitely even shorter than I knew I was! DP: Why wouldn’t I stand up for everybody, for all people? In the country field, we’re brought up in spiritual homes, we’re taught to “judge not lest you be judged,” and it’s always been a mystery to me how people jump all over things just to criticize, condemn and judge other people when that is so un-Christian – and they claim to be good Christians! We’re supposed to love one another. We’re supposed to accept and love one another. Whether we do or not, that’s a different story. But that’s what we’re supposed to do.
But actually, I am very honored when the drag queens all do their thing because I think it’s a big compliment. I get a big kick out of some of them. Some of them are really good! Some of them are…comical. DA: Some of them are so good you once lost a lookalike contest that you were in.

fairyscopes ARIES (March 20 – April 19):
LIBRA (September 23 – October 22):
You won’t be the people person you usually are today. That’s okay, because everyone needs a little alone time for self-introspection. Go on a stroll, watch the clouds in the sky, try not to speak to anyone at all. Spend time with your thoughts and recharge.
Your acquisitive nature may get you into trouble today. Your quest for gossip may teach you a hard lesson about prying into other people’s affairs. Don’t go sticking your nose into other people’s business unless you want it smashed in by a fist or other blunt object.
TAURUS (April 20 – May 20):
SCORPIO (October 23 – November 21):
Be sensitive to the needs of your partner or boyfriend today, but don’t put your own on a back burner. Relationships are a two-way street, and it’s easy to give without getting much in return. But the dance can be sweet if the two of you tango together.
You’ll go through periods of high energy today that’ll be counteracted by moments of extreme laziness. This yin/ yang thing will go on all day, and people won’t know which one is the dynamic you, or the one that can barely muster the strength to get up to go to the bathroom.
GEMINI (May 21- June 20):
SAGITTARIUS (November 22 – December 20):
Do something healthy for yourself today. Go for a long hike or bike ride, eat fresh foods or just lie in the sun and breathe some fresh air. Get some friends together to go along, and you can all get healthy together.
Share your dreams with others today. Not the hopes and wishes you have for your life, but the dreams that pop up in your sleep. Even the biggest of Fellini fans won’t know what to make of them, and hopefully they’ll give you the number of a good therapist.
CANCER (June 21- July 22):
CAPRICORN (December 21 – January 19):
You may have a hard time dealing with your emotions today. In turn, people may have a hard time dealing with you. Try not to give in to your dark sides when in public today. Put on a fake face and be all smiles. You may be a seething cauldron of emotions, but don’t throw others in there with you.
You may find yourself detached from your friends today. You may like it that way. They bring happiness and joy to your life, but sometimes they can get on your nerves. Don’t feel guilty if you ignore them today. Just make sure they’re not in the same room. That’s just rude.
LEO (July 23 – August 22):
AQUARIUS (January 20 – February 18):
Today may be a nice one to spend with your family. Be the good son and plan a special dinner for them. Whether you treat them to a nice restaurant or cook something at home is up to you. But they will appreciate your heartfelt attempts to love and nurture them.
You may have deep feelings for a guy who barely takes notice of you. Pining for him from afar won’t get you anywhere and you’ll eventually have to approach him. The worst he can do is say ‘no’. Of course, that’ll be devastating to you, and you’ll retreat straight back into therapy.
VIRGO (August 23 – September 22):
PISCES (February 19 – March 19):
You hate when people throw their opinions in your face, especially when they differ from yours. Your stubborn refusal to listen to other points of view will eventually be your downfall. And then the others will laugh and laugh.
You may find yourself out of your element today in a place where people aren’t very nice. They will claw and bite and try to tear you down at every opportunity. Don’t you just hate dinner with the family?

ack in the early days of my career at the infamous Bijou Theater, we had a never-ending parade of sexy strippers runnin’ all over the goddamn place. It was my job to keep those boys in line, therefore, I know all about the trials and tribulations of the business. And when it comes to making it rain, believe me ... y’all ain’t seen shit until you’ve sat in the seats of the Bijou. (Note: Be sure to bring Febreze, baby wipes and a roll of Certs if you ever plan on finding out for yourself) Like jocks, stripper problems come in all shapes and sizes. Let’s take a peek inside the g-string in this week’s Favorite Bitch!
Dear Miss Tiger, My boyfriend is a stripper. I busted him having phone sex. He said he only does it for one customer who tips him very well. I don’t know what to think! Help! -Jason Dear 100% Customer Satisfaction Guarantee, Instead of asking my advice, you need to ask your man what he does for the bastard that tips more than that phone fucker. NEXT!
Dear Miss Tiger, I left my boyfriend for a stripper who I’ve wanted since the Dear Miss Tiger, moment I laid my eyes on his big dick. But he left me after a I strip at a popular gay bar. They had a twerking contest, so I week of dating. How do I get my boyfriend back? took my break and entered it. I ended up throwing my lower -Emory University Undergrad back out. It was crazy because the manager called an ambulance and they carried me out on a stretcher! I’m all better Dear Dumb Like A High School Drop Out, but embarrassed as shit! I haven’t been back in weeks. Got Consider yourself fucked ... and not by that hung stripper any advice? you were “jonesing” for. Your ex is like your virginity - some -Dustin things you just can’t get back! FYI - You wouldn’t be in this mess had you appreciated the caviar you had at home instead Dear You Ain’t The First Motha Fuckah To of dining on fish sticks from a fast food joint. NEXT! Make A Messy Exit From A Gay Bar, Rule Number One: Remember that you’re the talent and not Dear Miss Tiger, a patron. My little brother is a stripper. How do I convince him to get a respectable job? Let this be a lesson, that had you continued to handle your -Marcy business, you would’ve been hustlin’ old men ... instead of being laid out on the floor like one. NEXT! Dear A Respectable Job Doesn’t Pay The Bills Hunty, Dear Miss Tiger, Girl, trying to change him is like trying to stop a diabetic from My partner and I are saving money to buy a house. I keep tell- smuggling Little Debbie Nutty Bars under the mattress! ing him to limit his expenditures. When I get the credit card bills, I see he’s wasting a lot of money on Starbucks Iced Chai Need advice? Write, Tweet or Facebook me and get the Tea Lattes. How do I get him to watch his money? answers you’ve been looking for, Hunty! -Jeffrey Dear Stay Single And By Your Own Damn House, Forget watching the budget for a moment. Shouldn’t the bastard be watching his waistline? P.S. Be thankful he’s sucking on straws. The bitch could be spending his coins sittin’ in a dark corner and sucking on some stripper’s dick. And that would cost a hell of a lot more than Starbucks, hunty! NEXT! 74 // 05.21.2014

Bitch SESSION SEND US YOUR BITCHES!
If Grindr is on your phone, then – like it or not – you’re part of “the scene.”
Text 404.969.BTCH or email bitch@davidatlanta.com
What’s with the old nasty fat trolls on the lake? Damn, can’t us young hotties have anything to ourselves? I don’t like to date my age. So boring, sexually. Romanticism doesn’t belong in the bedroom; treat me like a sleazy hookup. After seeing your latest selfie, and knowing what you look like in real life, I’d like to hire you for your Photoshopping abilities.

Where are all the sexy black men who like thick white bears?
I don’t dance. I sway rhythmically. Pointing out my flaws isn’t going to make yours any less apparent.
Throwing shade takes a bit of creativity. Being a bitch takes none. I forgot that my one friend was a vegan because he went a whole conversation without mentioning it.
I have a very sexy health life. You do not want to be a roadblock to Clay Aiken’s dreams, because if you are, shit gets real.
