ANOTHER WON DISCO NIGHT

SWEETWATER 420 FEST

The ladies of Women’s Outdoor Network are invading the Heretic for an albeit early night of “back in the day” disco music and dancing. Ladies, dust off those bell bottoms, pick out that afro, find a geometric polyester shirt so you can get your boogie on.

This eco-friendly festival is more than just music and fantastic beer. It’s about making positive changes in the way each and every person affects the earth. The lineup includes Snoop Dog, Primus, Cage the Elephant, and so many more. Plus there is, of course, a sinful amount of suds to be consumed from SweetWater Brewery.

Friday, April 17 • 7 - 10 p.m. • Heretic (2069 Cheshire Bridge Rd. NE)

Friday, April 17 - Sunday, April 19 • Centennial Olympic Park (265 Park Ave. W) • sweetwater420fest.com

ATLANTA BALLET: MODERN CHOREOGRAPHIC VOICES This year ABC is bringing back three of our favorite innovative works from past seasons including: Seven Sonatas which focuses on the playful relationships of three couples, the imaginative ballet in Quietly Walking, and the thrilling Minus 16. Friday, April 17 - Sunday, April 19 • 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. • Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre (2800 Cobb Galleria Pkwy) • atlantaballet.com

“I fought for my country. Now I’m bringing the fight to my HIV.” Reggie - Atlanta, GA Living with HIV since 1985.

As a military guy, I know how to follow orders. So when my doctor told me to start and stay in treatment, I listened. Now my treatment regimen is part of my life. That means I take my pills, I keep my medical appointments, I stay connected to support groups and I keep up with the latest education. Treatment works for me, and now I show other veterans who are HIV-positive how it can work for them.

Rounding out the month, one of my favorites sets up in Inman Park on April 24. The Inman Park Festival is also a FREE event, except for the Tour of Homes at $20 per adult. With arts and crafts on full dazzling display, you’re in for a real treat. They have food trucks everywhere, which is always a fat kid staple. I don’t go do anything, unless food is there. I’m always on the fence if alcohol isn’t available, but food is a must! Hell, there’s even a parade at 2 p.m. on the Saturday of the event, so count me in. Who doesn’t love a parade?? Not to be outdone by April’s offerings, the lusty month of May has some amazing events and festivals to discover also. But more on them, another time. Check out www. Atlanta.net/events/festivals for all of your information needs.I’m obsessed with fair weather events (cause damn it if it doesn’t get hot here, fast) in Atlanta, and you should be too! Just watch out for the raping tree sperm, because we all know pregnant fellas in summer make for awkward swimsuit choices.

Festivals, Great Weather, and Tree Sperm! Well, we’ve drunk our way through St Patrick’s Day; and reveled in bad drag all around the awesome Easter races. Now, it’s time to put the plants back outside, and gear up for some quirky and cool activities in Atlanta...that you may or may not know about, that I get obsessed with. Celebrating the yellow fog of pollen, the Atlanta Dogwood Festival dominated Piedmont Park this past weekend. It’s always FREE, and heralds the arrival of Spring in Atlanta. What’s not so free is the VIP barbecue and brews event held each year at the Main Stage. But having access to a bathroom at these events, is always a plus when you get to middle age. Trust me! Kicking off 8 weekends beginning this Saturday, is the Georgia Renaissance Festival. They’re celebrating 30!!! years of jousting and royal antics for fans, and as always...BOGO first weekend. So, $22 gets you and a guest in. If not able to go until later in the season, the Royal Value Combo Pack is $100 and gets 4 people in with food and drinks. Not a bad way to spend a day with friends and family. Speaking of this weekend and $100, it’s that much and more enticing to get into the always popular Sweetwater 420 Fest at Olympic Centennial Park. The VIP weekend and VIP single days, are all that’s left for fans to purchase. But includes 5 free cocktails, and private viewing areas of Main Stage events like the always smokin’ Snoop Dog. 22 | 4.15.15

DA: Yeah, you got to do the ponytail and everything. Who would you have put on the bottom two? KH: I would have put Miss Fame. She was really messing up her lines way more than I was. I was just missing a word. She was missing her whole freaking line! DA: What was your favorite moment on the show? KH: One of the most exciting moments is right before you go into the work room for the first time because you don’t know who you’re going to see. It all these emotions at the same time. So your going: ‘Ok, who’s going to be bitchy? Who’s going to be sweet?’ That moment is very exciting and crazy. DA: You said bitchy and sweet. Who was the sweetest person on the cast this season? KH: Miss Kasha Davis. She so cool and sweet. DA: Then who is the bitchiest from this season? KH: (laughs) I would probably have to say Violet.

Kandy Ho’ Everything the way that she wants. This week on RPDR we face (yet another) group challenge. Is anybody else getting a little tired of these? In the end Kandy Ho’ faced off against Jaidynn Diore Fierce as they lip-synced for their lives to Arianna Grande. It was Kandy’s third time in this position, so we kind of knew what was coming next. I caught up with Kandy as she was jet-setting between San Fran and Puerto Rico.

DA: You know she’s from Atlanta. Don’t be coming for my Atlanta girls! How long have you been doing drag? KH: About nine years now. DA: Do you have a “drag mother”? Is it Queen Bee Ho? KH: No, we’re drag sisters! There’s about nine of us in a drag family called the Doll House. We each have different last names, but Queen Bee and me are very similar so she just put the ‘Ho’ in there. I don’t know. DA: Who would you have been for Snatch Game?

David Atlanta: Puerto Rico has a long history of providing talent on RPDR, what is it do you think about that tiny KH: On my audition tape I did Britney Spears, but for the island that produces so much drag talent? show, I was going to do Martha Kandy Ho’: I think Puerto Rican drag queens are extremely pre- Stewart. I think she’s so serious, pared. We like to take everything overboard and just have fun but she makes you laugh with with it. If Puerto Rico had a drag school lots of people would go her seriousness. to it. It’s the preparation that captures the eye. DA: Would you have done DA: How would you describe the Puerto Rican school prison cell Martha? of drag? KH: (laughs) No, but that would KH: Perfection. Just one word. Purrfection! have been funny! DA: This was your third time lip-syncing for your life. Watch every week as David What were your thoughts at the time when Ru declared Atlanta interviews each you in the bottom two yet again? queen hours after the sashay away. We’ll release it online KH: Once I went in this last challenge, I kinda thought I might be and then in print the followon the bottom again. Personally, I don’t feel as if I should have ing issue. It’s the best way been on the bottom. But, I guess it is what it is. I’m just happy I to know your queens this got to lip-sync to Arianna Grande. season. ARIES (Mar. 20 – Apr. 19): Your emotions could be quite strong this week. You may find it difficult to act without having intense feelings come into the picture. Be careful about speaking without first thinking how your words will affect other people. Be open to others’ opinions.

LIBRA (Sep. 23 – Oct. 22): Try to stay on the lighter side this week. This may be easier said than done. You’re the bridge that connects an island to the shore. The water is rising and the island is about to be completely submerged. People are scrambling to reach you.

TAURUS (Apr. 20 – May 20): Other people may find it difficult to deal with this week’s intensity, but you will be quite adept at fitting into whatever situation comes your way. The waters may get quite rough, especially when it comes to love and romance, but know that the boat you’re on is seaworthy.

SCORPIO (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21): You may be trying to deal with things in a neat, orderly manner this week. Try not to get too frustrated if things don’t work out exactly the way you’d like. Tension may occur when matters of the heart come up for discussion.

GEMINI (May 21- Jun. 20): Issues of the heart may be a bit difficult to deal with now. Try not to completely shut off the channels of communication while you work on dealing with these issues. It’s vital that you open the channels wider and bring more of your feelings to the surface.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22 – Dec. 20): Just when you thought you had love and romance all worked out in your head, something or someone steps in to put your heart in a whirl once again. More than likely, the intensely emotional drama of the day is a passing phase, so try not to get too worked up about it.

CANCER (Jun. 21- Jul. 22): You may get frustrated today when people don’t seem to act rationally. To you, the issues may be perfectly cut and dried. Keep in mind that not everyone sees the world the way you do. There’s an element of strong emotion that’s likely to play into the picture.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 21 – Jan. 19): Be careful of letting your heart get carried away. Extreme emotions are likely, making you very aware of your environment and what other people are thinking about you. Fantasy is a terrific way to escape the emotional intensity.

LEO (Jul. 23 – Aug. 22): Go deeper beneath the surface this week. You may get along just fine with the way you now handle things. Keep in mind, however, that you aren’t likely to progress down your path until you turn up the intensity. If you don’t, you may find that someone turns it up for you.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18): Be prepared for an emotional backlash that’s likely if you get too possessive about your romantic partner. Issues about freedom versus commitment could arise whether you’re involved in a close relationship or not. Figure out your position on the matter before you proceed.

VIRGO (Aug. 23 – Sep. 22): You may wonder why it is that you can gain control of so many parts of your life, but nothing seems to go right when it comes to romance? Dismiss the notion that you’re unworthy of love. Don’t try to portray yourself as someone you’re not.

PISCES (Feb. 19 – Mar. 19): You may feel blocked on all sides this week, with no escape hatch. There’s a strong set of forces acting in such a way as to make you feel responsible for some mess that has occurred in your life. Don’t blame everything on yourself.

I’m sorry; talking to you seems as appealing as playing leapfrog with unicorns.

Just because I find you attractive doesn’t mean I like you. You’re appealing to my eyes, not my heart or mind. It is not that deep.

Some people have way more dick in their personality than they do in their pants.

Let’s cancel The Real Housewives and put on an Atlanta reality show that people will actually watch: America’s Next Top Bottom.

In your Easter edition, the conspicuous placement of the words “Kelly Clarkson” in bold on the cover had us all wondering which cover model she was? She looked good either way.

I long for the days when we were called homosexuals and stayed in the closet. I’m afraid all of this gay “special rights” protesting will lead to serious persecution someday.

I swear my “People You May Know” list should read “Gays You Don’t Know Yet... But You Could”.

I called your boyfriend gay and he hit me with his purse!

What is with that guy at the bar? His breath is so strong. He needs listerine... not a sip, not a swallow, but the whole friggin’ bottle!

Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful; hate me because your boyfriend thinks so.
