CHEER – Mrs. Heitman: Congrats to our Lady Cardinals for placing 3rd in our final tournament of the basketball season! Cardinals, Lady Cardinals, and Cardinal Cheer all had a fun weekend in Topeka, KS, and even got to play in a little snow while we were there! Mrs. Harbeson: Chilly Greetings to Everyone! I hope everyone enjoyed another 4-day weekend. I'm writing this on Tuesday not knowing if tomorrow will be another snow day. Congrats to our Lady Cardinals on winning 3rd at the Topeka tournament, and I also heard that our boys played well but just came up short in their games. No matter what the outcome, we are all proud of you! Believe it or not, we are heading into the final few weeks of our 3rd quarter. Spring Break is just four weeks away! With that being said, I encourage you all to study and do your best work. You'll be glad you did once those report cards come out! Just to remind you, study hall is offered to all middle school students at no extra charge every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30. You may come for part of it or stay for the full hour. This is a great time to get some one-on-one help from your teachers on anything you're struggling with. I encourage you all to take advantage of this opportunity. In language, everyone should have their books chosen for their book reports that are due in three weeks; and we are all finishing our noun units in grammar. Be looking for a unit test this week! All classes scored a class average of at least 80% on their last vocabulary tests, so as promised, we will be heading to Turtles on a decent day next week to celebrate. Good job, Everyone! God's blessings to you on the rest of your week! Mrs. Hanson: WHEW!!! Mousetrap cars- done. DNA models- done. Tests-done. What a last few weeks we have had! So proud that everyone worked so hard on everything and did so well. j No it's on to new content. We are starting with vocab and will have our first quiz Friday. 7th/8th graders will be going on a field trip to iFLY on March 12 for a STEM lesson on air resistance and terminal velocity and will cost $35. I just wanted to let people know in advance. A permission form will go out soon. p.s. Let it snow! Ms. Pacey: I hope everyone enjoyed their second long weekend in a row. Test corrections are due Thursday, and every box needs to be filled for each question in order to receive credit. In Algebra we are writing linear equations. PreAlgebra is working with rational numbers. Course 2 is reviewing operations with fractions and will have a test Tuesday of next week. Course 1 is finding the LCM in order to add fractions. Have a great week! Mr. Covert: We’re back after another long break! I hope everyone had a chance to get recharged and ready to hit the ground running now that we’re back. Our classes are picking up where we left off. The 8th grade is looking at the cultural changes in our country that occurred in the late 1800s. In 7th grade, we’re continuing our look at the northern part of South America. As for 6th grade, we’re going to wrap up the birth of Islam and then head back over to Europe and cover the period from the fall of Rome to the rise of the first major kingdoms of the medieval era. I pray that God continues to bless our school family as we move through this month. Blessings on your week!

On Jan. 22, 2019, the 46th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion on demand, the governors of both New York and Illinois signed laws to extend and promote abortion. In response, LCMS President Rev. Dr. Matthew C. Harrison released a statement highlighting the Synod's commitment to respecting the sanctity of life at all its stages. The statement reads, in part: "We live as citizens in this world, and we seek to be obedient to our nation’s laws. We thank God for our leaders and for this great land He has given to us and for its precious freedoms and opportunities. The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod advocates strong citizenship and active participation in government. We obey the laws of our land and encourage those around us to do so. We are, however, bound by our conscience to speak against those laws that are unjust and, especially, those laws that violate God’s law and the natural law that binds all mankind. Abortion and other means through which humans kill humans violate these natural and moral laws that form the foundation of society. Therefore, we stand against these actions and against all laws that sanction abortion or the taking of innocent life." Read the full statement at lcms.org/abortion-statement-january-2019
